Lyrics for Where Is My Mind? as interpreted by numb

Where Is My Mind? Lyrics
Oooh - stop

With your feet in the air and your head on the ground
Try this trick and spin it, yeah
Your head will collapse
When there's nothing in it
And you'll ask yourself

Where is my mind?

Way out in the water
See it swimming

I was swimming in the Caribbean
Animals were hiding behind the rocks
Except the little fish
But they told me, he swears
Trying to talk to me, to me, to me

Where is my mind?
Way out in the water
See it swimming?

With your feet in the air and your head on the ground
Try this trick and spin it, yeah
Your head will collapse
When there's nothing in it
And you'll ask yourself

Where is my mind?

Ooh
With your feet in the air and your head on the ground
Ooh
Try this trick and spin it, yeah
Ooh
Ooh

Well overall I'd say anyone who has done LSD, as I'm sure the pixis (and myself) your mind feels like one it's gone and two its swimming. thats the only way you'd hear a fish talking to you. I thought there were angels and demons trapped in the walls when I was tripping.

I think this song is about whores, like in many of their songs.
With your feet in the air and your head on the ground
Try this trick and spin it, yeah
Your head will collapse
When there's nothing in it

Most whores are dumb

I feel this song it's almost tangible. Well anyway my take.

I kinda see this song as an interpretation to dreaming. next time you are dreaming and are in the clouds. Just ask yourself to spin your head around. wkd cool right?

This song is asking a literal question. Where do the thoughts in my head physical exist?

Great song.

Not sure if I am correct or not, but the line "Tryin' to talk to me to me to me" always sounded like "I said talk to me coy koi."

Just wanted to share that. It'd be rather contrictory since the fish was the least "coy" and he was swimming in the Caribean, and a koi is usually associated with Japan, though.

This verse has always driven me crazy. I've tried to find the correct lyrics for years now and have never quite got there. A while ago I saw Frank Black guest performing with Placebo doing a version of Where Is My Mind. Brian Molko sings the second verse a lot more clearly than Frank ever has and his lyrics are plainly:

"Animals were hiding behind the rocks,
Except the little fish,
Then he told me East is West
And he tried to cry...
Where is my mind?"

The East West line sounds pretty close to what Frank sings in the original but the next line still mystifies me - not sure if Brian Molko is doing his own interpretation here or if he got those lyrics from Frank. The mystery continues! And anyway I should probably stop obsessing about it now - if Brian Molko doesn't know the words even when he's sharing the stage with Frank Black then I probably never will either...

Check out the vid on Youtube if you search for user elainalee81 / Pixies, Placebo Where etc...

This song is not nearly as good as the cover. I'm being sarcastic. I just want you all to realize that because no one has any sense of humor on these things. And uh...well...the only thing that I think about when I hear this song is the best thing out of Fight Club, the credits. So yeah, I instantly loved this song cuz it reminded me of the pure joy I got from changing the channel.

Actually, the song does have some what of an obvious meaning, besides metaphors. It was written about a story one of the members of the Pixies used to tell about being as high as they'd ever been and then going scuba diving.

2nd

I believe this song is about suicide, that's indicated in the first verse, the chorus is about the moment of regret, and the second verse is about the afterlife

this pixies gather up all the rushes of adrenaline and emotion and ideas that swirl round in ones mind, and translate them into an amazing, amazing song. when listening to it, the music washes over your mind as if you were getting into a warm bath, and it consumes you for a while..

one of the most intense movie moments i have ever experienced is at the end of fight club, where the buildings start to implode and he takes her hand.. hanahiscool sums it up pretty well in the above comment

if you have ever tried to delve into your mind, and follow each tangent that another thought brings up, you soon see that your mind is too complicated and too diverse to step back and look at. so you end up confused, and not feeling great about it.

and this song captures that randomness, that infiniteness, in such a good way that you could just float on the feeling of knowing how random your mind is, and not caring about anything else. until the song ends.

its kinda depressing when the song ends if you keep thinkin about your mind.. it feels awesome to continue the songs feeling, and not care..

i doubt anybody who reads this will have a clue what im trying to say..
