Lyrics for Isla de Encanta as interpreted by numb

Isla de Encanta Lyrics
Hermanita ven conmigo
Hermanita ven conmigo
Hay aviones cada hora,

Isla de encanta,
Y me voy, y me voy, y me voy

Donde no hay sufrimiento
Donde no hay sufrimiento
Me vieron pasar por la calle,

Isla de encanta,
Y me voy, y me voy, y me voy

Nuestro propio animal canta a la gente pa'grati' ,
Hey babe what are we doing here?.

La
Lo
Patria

Isla de encanta,
Y me voy, y me voy, y me voy

Hmm. I just got back from Vieques...also known as the Island of Enchantment. And I do believe that Frank Black spent a bunch of time in Puerto Rico.

BTW, Vieques is a very nice place. Get there before the hotels move in.

Frank Black was in San Juan, Puerto Rico for a while and that experience surfaced in a lot of his songs. This song is definitely about Puerto Rico. In fact, I was in San Juan last week, and was amused to see that on all the license plates was "Isla del encanto" I was like, hey! That's a Pixies song! And my friends had no idea of course. But a lot of Surfer Rosa comes from Frank's time in PR, as well in other songs. Crackity Jones is about his roommate.

Isla de Encanta is simply Black's ode to Puerto Rico where he spent sometime overtime over there during college. No doubt did that have a huge influence on him. It is no secret that Black Francis has a love for the beach life "I am the beach goer but there is no beach".To go from U-Mass (not that great of surfing up there) to talking about his island of enchantment where there is no suffering. He definetly had a good time over there... except the crazy gay roommate

Gotta give it up for Frank Black--he certainly speaks uncannily fluent Spanish for a guy who took a Spanish class while at UMass that sponsored his trip to Puerto Rico--a 6-m0nth sojourn, tops... All this from yours truly, who as a Navy Brat, lived in Spain for 3 yrs. when my dad was stationed at the sub base in Rota (a town in the province of Cadiz, in the southern region of Andalucia an hour away from the Rock of Gibraltar (sp?) ) then took 3 yrs. of High School Spanish. Ay ay ay!!

The translation:

Little sister, come with me
Little sister, come with me
there are planes (flights) every hour

Island of Enchantment
I´m leaving, I´m leaving, I´m leaving

Where it is not suffering
Where it is not suffering
They saw me passing by the street

Island of Enchantment
I´m leaving, I´m leaving, I´m leaving

Our own animal sings at the people for free
Hey babe what are we doing here?.

La
Lo
Native country

Island of Enchantment
I´m leaving, I´m leaving, I´m leaving
