this is the first time that i've ever told the truth before
scrutinize what we call fate
belief in more of what's been forced into subconscious's
hold my breath, hope to refrain
is love an infection?
or a sick addiction?
when there's nowhere left to run to
is love an infection?
or a sick addiction?
when there's nowhere left
this crush is broken
her empty needle is my unsharpened sword
i stab, i stab, i stab, but i can't puncture
don't wanna read it, don't wanna feel it
don't wanna hear it, don't even wanna think about it
hold my breath, hope to refrain
and if i can't afford here my veins begin to ache
i don't wanna feel this pain no more
well have you ever felt so high
that when you came down you broke inside
i know she won't take the blame, blame
you love me, you rip my heart out
you've broken me for too long now

General Comment:yeah this song has to be about a heroine addiction. Alot of matt's songs draw references between 'her' and drugs. i'm sure there is those songs about girls and so be it if you wanna tell yourself this one is.

General Comment:I can deffinatly see where people could guess heroin, but i strongly disagree, I believe this song is about a guy in a relationship, she girl breaks up with him, but he cant let go. He is "addicted" to her, and by the sounds of the last line, "you've broken me for too long now" He finally decides to get over it. But thats just my opinion.

General Comment:go stars and satellites, i totally agree, it's a metaphor about how love can be like a drug! Why else would there even be a mention of love...hm

General Comment:Basically, its about a bad breakup after a long relationship, not drugs, this guy was in what he thought was a good relationship, enjoying that warm feeling that's easy to get addicted to, and when she leaves him he's "broke inside" and slips into post-breakup hell. One of those songs for the heartbroken

General Comment:This is definitely, 100% about Heroin, and more specifically about this guy's addiction and wanting to get out of its grasps.
    Evidence:
"Her empty needle is my unsharpened sword"
This must mean her full needle is his sharpened sword..makes sense towards heroin>
"don't wanna read it, don't wanna feel it
don't wanna hear it, don't even wanna think about it "
This is kind of explaining about how he knows he's addicted but he doesn't even want to think about it.
"and if i can't afford her my veins begin to ache "
Heroin's usually injected into a vein, and if a heroin user's body doesn't get more of it, which is hard to get because it can be an expensive habit, they start to go through withdrawl...aka "ache"
"well have you ever felt so high
that when you came down you broke inside"
Yes another refrence. Heroin gives you a great high, but like a number of drugs out there, when you come down it is incredibly strong.
"i know she won't take the blame, blame"
Nobody usually blaims the drug, they blame the user.
"you love me, you rip my heart out "
Here he's saying how the drug loves him, meaning gives him a high, and then it rips his heart out, meaning it has an awful comedown. Or it can also mean that when he first started using it it was grand but now its torn apart his life.
"you've broken me for too long now"
Obviously saying his life has been crippled for way too long because of his heroin addiction.
