Yeah, this song is dedicated to every kid who ever got picked last in gym class (yeah, 1999)
This is for you
To every kid who never had a date to no school dance (2000 eternal)
This is for you
To everyone who's ever been called a freak (come with meeeee)
Here we, here we go
What? (y'all know what I'm talking about, y'all know what I'm saying)

Like the time in school when we got free lunch and the cool kids beat us up (reduced lunch!)
And the rich kids had convertibles and we had to ride the bus (fifty-five)
Like the time we made the baseball team, but they still laughed at us (we still suck)
Like the time that girl broke up with me cause I wasn't cool enough
Trick!

Things...
The little things they always hang around
The little things they try to break me down
The little things they just won't go away
The little things made me who I am today
You want to hate me know
But I won't stop know, cause I can't stop now

What? Come on. Ungh.
Here we go

Like the time mom went to that institute cause she was breaking down (I just can't take it!)
Like the car we had that wouldn't start, we had to walk to get around (Can I get a ride?)
And that same year on Christmas Eve, Dad went to the store (uh, I'll see you guys later)
We checked his room, his things were gone
We didn't see him no more
Dick!

Things...
The little things they always hang around
The little things they try to break me down
The little things they just won't go away
The little things made me who I am today
You want to hate me know
But I won't stop know, cause I can't stop now
It always seems those little things they take the biggest part of me...

And I know that those little things they make the biggest part of me break down
I'm breaking down
Break down
Gotta maintain

General Comment:i forgot, I'm not a GC fan, but i like a little of what they do, I personally love this song, the lyrics may not be like awesome written, but they're still pure, deep and meaningful, and if you can't understand that, you're probably the kinda people this song is talking about.

to jvenrick: Of course i'd like to shoot myself if i had to go to any social event with you. Thank god that by this time, you're probably in hospital dying from drugs or some eatting disorder. Or you're out of high School and you didn't make it to college, and hopefully all your 'friends' have already forgotten about the few months your clothes were the latest fashion and then, they passed, just as you.

This is probably one of the worst fights i've seen in this site, if you want to know what sell-outs really are, hate Good Charlotte, or just want to see the worst arguing written instead of the song's meaning go look AFI's "Girl's Not Grey" first pages comments.

General Comment:Isn't it funny how everybody (incluiding myself) says we should talk about the song and stop arguing about what punk is or isn't, but still they all end up giving their opinion about it?

I'm not punk, but as far as i know from my friends and my own research, is about being who you are and not caring if somebody else likes it or not (a really short way to say it). I personally don't think you have to be rebel to be punk, you can be normal, follow SOME rules, and wear whatever you want. But i don't think anybody knows 100% what 'punk' is, i mean, everybody is contradicting themselves. We ALL know the sex pistols are pure Punk, besides that, nobody get to a conclusion. I'm not saying I don't like punks or everybody that can relate to this song, in contrary, i respect them and appreciate them for standing for what they believe without caring about the other people's opinions and reject.

On the other hand, how freakin close can your mind be??!!! Just because a song is on mtv it automatically sucks?? come on, just listen to music, if you liked a band before and you don't like them now just because they're on mtv, then what is wrong with you? You should be glad that there are people who are true to their music and feellings all along and are now being recognized. Just LOVE music don't care if it is punk, or emo, or metal, or nu-metal, or pop, or whatever new genre there is, I personally love anything with drums and guitars, and of course an intense MEANING, don't care what other people call it. Just try to listen to everything and pick what you like for what it says or sounds like, and not for the place you heard it from.

General Comment:So from a loyal GC fan why are we putting labels on music, and a great group? You dont think if more people start listening to them, they'll tour more? Haha for "every kid who ever got picked last in gym class... every kid who never had a date to no school dance... everyone who's ever been called a freak" the minorities you know but i doubt they are going to care if the group thats buying their cd is wearing abercrombie or hot topic. Eh well as most of their older fans would say it doesnt matter as long as they stay together and keep playing.

    General Comment:Music is music.
    Okay.
    Get over it.
You can like a certain type of music and be in another different stereotype.
    So stop complaining.
    lol.
I wanted to get in the arguement. [[From Pg 1-3]]

General Comment:I can't belive people are dissing GC and assessing their "punkness"! Sure, they've gone abit mainstream and appeal to preps, but who cares! I don't care wheather you're gonna label GC as punk/ emo/ rock or whatever! I just like their sound. They just wanna get out there and do their thing! Can't everyone relate to this song? "For every kid who got picked last in gym class." That happened to me every day of year 7. "For every kid who never got a date to no school dance." Uhh. What can I say? "This is for everyone who's ever been called a freak." It's like "shoutout's to you!" This is a great song. Sure they've sounded diferent with every album they make. but it's cool! And by the way, I think they're working on a new album coming out later this year (that's 2006... just so like.. ten years later there'll be no confusion) So yeah. Great song. Great Band.
