I remember all my life
Raining down as cold as ice
A shadow of a man
A face through a window
Crying in the night
The night goes into

Morning, just another day
Happy people pass my way
Looking in their eyes
I see a memory
I never realized
How happy you made me, oh Mandy

Well you came and you gave without taking
And I sent you away, oh Mandy
And you kissed me and stopped me from shaking
And I need you today, oh Mandy

I'm standing on the edge of time
Walked away when love was mine
Caught up in a world of uphill climbing
The tears are in my eyes
And nothing is rhyming, oh Mandy

Well you came and you gave without taking
And I sent you away, oh Mandy
And you kissed me and stopped me from shaking
And I need you today, oh Mandy

Yesterday's a dream
Now I face the morning
Crying on the breeze
The pain is calling, oh Mandy

Well you came and you gave without taking
And I sent you away, oh Mandy
And you kissed me and stopped me from shaking
And I need you today, oh Mandy

Well you came and you gave without taking
And I sent you away, oh Mandy
And you kissed me and stopped me from shaking
And I need you today, oh Mandy

Song Meaning:I think that this song is talking about a girl, Mandy, does everything for this guy and loves him, but he sends her away. Now he is saying he shouldnt have and he wants her back.

General Comment:This song is about a man that used to love a woman that left him because he was so caught up in his own world and too busy for her. He realizes how much he loved her, what he's lost and wishes he could have it back.

General Comment:cuts like a knife,, deep enough to make you plead you never wished this had happened,, the sense of losing her and realizing that she's the only one that really understood is just too painfully to bear,, now even more when the world is ignorant to ur feeling

General Comment:In the beginning Manilow HATED this song and wasn't going to record it. It's entirely different from the Scott English original, which is down to Manilow's extroadinary arranging ability.

General Comment:The song was originally called Brandy. The bit about "Mandy" being about Manilow's dog is an urban myth. Songwriter and original performer Scott English says he was woken by a phone call from a reporter, wanting to know who "Brandy" was. "I would have said anything to get rid of him," says English, "So I spat out the first thing that came to mind: It was about a dog like Lassie and I had sent her away - now you go away!' And I hung up on him. I have heard the first take of Mandy and half way through the song Manilow sings "Brandy" instead od Mandy then immediately says "ooops".

I think it's about a person who has broken up with his lover and now regrets it. He takes full blame of the breakup. He tells how wonderful she was and how he just sent her away. Now he longs for her love but now she is gone.

General Comment:I heard it was about a dog, I never thought so, but if you ever really loved a dog and sing this song to yourself about that dog, you will cry. My dogwas Benji, she died 9 years ago now I understand what Barry is trying to say.

General Comment:This song is NOT about a dog. It is a cover of the song "Brandy" written by Scott English. He made up the story about the dog when he was sick of questions about the song. He has never publicly stated what the song is explicitly about.
