Lyrics for Interstate Love Song as interpreted by dsfire

Interstate Love Song Lyrics
Waitin' on a sunday afternoon for what I've read between the lines - Your lies
Feelin' Like a hand in rusted shame. So do you laugh or does it cry - Reply?

Leavin' On a southern train only yesterday you lied
Promises of what I seemed to be only watched the time go by
All of these things you said to me

Breathing Is the hardest thing to do with all I've said and all that's dead for
you
You lied - Goodbye

Leavin' on a southern train only yesterday you lied
Promises of what I seemed to be only watched the time go by
All of these things I said to you
---

According to Weiland, the song dealt lyrically with a number of themes, particularly "honesty, lack of honesty, my new relationship with heroin." At the time he was having relationship troubles with his girlfriend, as he was using heroin while recording Purple but told her he no longer was...found it on Wikipedia.org

I never watched the music video until just now-- except for maybe when it came out when I was two-- but now I understand why I called it "The Pinocchio Song." Haha wow. Good times. Great Song.

leaving on a souther train is a metaphor for someone going downhill.. scott knew he wasnt gooing to get clean for a while and knew that he was just gonna drown his wife with his lifestyle too if she stayed

i love this song.,:)!!

Waiting on a Sunday afternoon
For what I read between the lines:
Your lies

=can be a latter., anything that is readable. The girl might be giving excuses to the guy. and the guy knew that he was lying., oh! that sucks!hehhe

Feelin' like a hand in rusted shame
So do you laugh at those who cry?
Reply

=he's feeling exaggeratedly ashamed because he might be crying while reading the lies of the girl.
I think the love of the girl fades away.

Leavin' on a southern train
Only yesterday you lied
Promises of what I seemed to be
Only watched the time go by
All of these things you said to me

= after he knew that the girl was telling him lies, he left. Maybe the girl promised that they would be together forever. but maybe the girls love faded. He remembered every memories and the promises of the girl but sad to say, the girl left her.

Breathing is the hardest thing to do
With all I've said and all that's dead for you
You lied;
Goodbye

=it's hard to live without you. It's just the same as that. So the all of the things that the guy did and also the promises were all broken so the guy left.

Leavin' on a southern train
Only yesterday you lied
Promises of what I seemed to be
Only watched the time go by
All of these things I said to you

One of the best intros to a rock song in history. this song is touching and sad in the fact that it was inspired by heroin

In Stone Temple Pilots appearance on VH1's Storytellers, Scott Weiland explained that the band would travel in a Winnebago that pulled a trailer with their equipment. When band members wanted some quiet, they would go in the trailer with a walkie-talkie. Robert DeLeo was back there with his guitar one day when he came up with the music for the song, and he used the walkie-talkie to call to the band and play it for them. Weiland added: "The words are about the lies I was trying to conceal while making the Purple record."

Lead singer Scott Weiland wrote this about his relationship troubles and his growing heroin addiction. When he wrote it, he thought about what kind of a liar he had become towards his fiancé and how he had promised to stay off drugs when they went to Atlanta to record Purple, but didn't keep that promise.

This is one of my all time fave songs and enjoy the video because of it's funky creativeness, I also think Scott W. looked healthier and better looking here than he does today. People may say he's bi but whatev, he has a great bod in this video.

Saw STP on 07-19-09 at Merriweather Post in Maryland. Had been waiting to see them for over 10 years. Possibly the best concert that I have EVER seen. Chunky riffs, intense lyrics, outstanding show, had the audience on their feet screaming out the lyrics the entire concert. New album for Christmas, and then hopefully another tour. Can't wait. You got to see them! You will never forget seeing STP live! Best rock band out there period!
