And I feel that time's a wasted go
So where ya going to tomorrow?
And I see that these are lies to come
Would you even care?
And I feel it
And I feel it
Where ya going to tomorrow?
Where ya going with that mask I found?
And I feel, and I feel
When the dogs begin to smell her
Will she smell alone?
And I feel, so much depends on the weather
So is it raining in your bedroom?
And I see, that these are the eyes of disarray
Would you even care?
And I feel it
And she feels it
Where ya going to tomorrow?
Where ya going with that mask I found?
And I feel, and I feel
When the dogs begin to smell her
Will she smell alone?
When the dogs do find her
Got time, time, to wait for tomorrow

General Comment:if the band says that it's about a rape/murder in San Diego, it is. the lyrics fit. and I feel that times a wasted, go. the police are letting the case go cold and they need to "go", work on the case. where are you going to tomorrow; is the criminal on the lam and running. the lies to come could either be the police covering up or the criminal lying after being apprehended or both. "and I feel it" police have gut instincts. "would you even care could either be police indifference or that of the criminal. the "mask" would be an allegory to the criminal changing appearance or identity or both. "found" would refer to the police being on to this. the dogs are cadaver dogs looking for the body. "does she smell alone" is very creepy. is she the sole body there or is it a "dump site" with other bodies there. the weather reference as others have stated could mean that crimes happen less in bad weather. I feel it is a reference to how the weather "washes away" evidence. the eyes of disarray: the police are pretty clueless. then he asks if they even care. and I feel it. others are concerned to find justice. when the dogs DO find her, got time to wait 'til tomorrow. once she's found, the police need to step back and re-evaluate the case. to find it. the missing clue to solve the case.

General Comment:I was three years old when this came around. My dad always used to listen to it in our basement. We didn't have any money, he had to drop out of school to watch me, while working a shit job cleaning school buses at night. He always used to play it though. he told me years later that I always used to rock out to it when I was young. I don't recall. He took his life 5 years ago.

everytime I listen to this song I get sad, yet it's a remedial type of hopeful sadness.

to me this song represents finding lost time, and how often time will make you feel like you're worthless, how often it'll remind you that you have wasted it, stuck in a life you don't really want telling yourself tomorrow will be the day you make something of yourself: "got time, wait for tomorrow." everybody always makes time seem like something that can be expended, but that's really not the case. it's a sad song, but at the same time a hopeful song. you can beat time.

My Interpretation:Yup, great song! Gets you thinking. So....

start right at the beginning, because like all songs this one is presented in chronological order and being that these guys wrote some great stuff; I have to assume every lyric is presented the way it is meant to be heard.

and I "feel" that "times a wasted go"
wow, well put. First of all this is how the singer/ writer "feels"
    time is unreliable
what ever happened in the past dont matter
    we live in the moment
so dont look to the past to decide
"go" for it because its now

so where ya goin to tomorrow
tomorrow is pretty significant , it represents a new day
every days a new day and a chance to start fresh

and I "see" these are lies to come
this is what is "seen" as contrasted to what is felt
    lies to come
so either his feelings are lying to him or he expects some one to lie

    would "you" even care?
    key word "you"
he's questioning if this person cares about what he feels or sees
so there is dilemma in his thoughts and feelings

"I feel it" twice: Id say either he's sure of his feelings , but repeating it to convince himself at or "you" who ever he's questioning

    okay to the chorus
    "where ya goin to tomorrow"
"where ya goin with the mask I found"

pretty much where you going , your not here now, but expects her to be tomorrow or in the future.
The mask can represent hiding or just the ability to be someone else. He definitely mentions "I found" So this tells me she's taking his mask. By not being there he isnt able to be who he is with her he has to be the person who is hiding. No good with out her!

once again he is pushing the point this is how he feels twice and that is that when the dogs smell her, will she smell alone.
    lots here.
strong imagery and if they wrote this in a hot tub I can see it starting with nothing more than single line "when the dogs begin to smell her" what a great line. So this simple line sets the tone (dogs hunt for somebody lost) painting pictures with words. How can you not see the dogs running through the dark woods, baying and hunting.

"will she be alone?" once again this is how he feels. It could mean he's worried about her being with someone else or just being alone with out him. Either way its presented in a form that reeks of disaster and tragedy if she is not with him.

okay back to the verses and what he feels and what he sees. Nice return to the intro taking us back to normalcy and away from his passionate chorus.

what he feels " so much depends on the weather"
weather is symbolic for our moods, emotions and drama in our lives and is also for the most part always unpredictable, unreliable and changing all the time.
this is where the song starts to make a little sense.
"so is it raining in your bedroom"
possibly a reference to no sex , which is usually a good indicator that a relationship is rocky if a woman is not inclined to sleep with her man, but......He's asking "is it raining" in "your" bedroom.
Just creates imagery of a woman crying herself to sleep for me.

    OKay! big line here
he feels or wants to believe that she is crying herself to sleep, BUT see, "these are the eyes of disarray"
    *claps* great line
he's seeing through eyes of confusion and chaos
he dont know what to make out of what he sees
    soooooooo.

    "i feel it"
    "she feels it"

he's relying on his feelings because he cant rely on his eyes
his feelings tell him that she is crying herself to sleep or is feeling the same thing he is feeling

from the looks of things he lost his woman and still loves her and believes that she still loves him despite what he see's or what she is telling him
    BUT:
"would you even care" he still is not sure

back to the chorus now. I'd have to say that this rocky part or end of this relationship is like losing someone or a missing person to him. Not being able to find them and worrying about them possibly being dead or in the mind of a lover dead to them. He has the dogs are out looking for her, and his feelings are scaring him that she may have found someone else or just be better off alone with out him.

    to wind it all up
when she's found he got time
    time to wait for tomorrow
times a wasted go (tomorrow is always a new day)
what he see's is misleading him
and his feelings are telling him she feels the same way too
and he trust his feelings (if she cares)

    to find it
    to find it

    what?

    whatever they have together

    its plush
    soft
    deep
    luxurious

Naming a song is rough, but when it works!

Just what I get outta the song
    sorry for the ramble

    General Comment:This is my interpretation:

And I feel that time's a wasted go
So where ya going to tomorrow?
(*don't waste time going home if soon we'll be together again)

And I see that these are lies to come
    Would you even care?
(*you will lie to him about being with me, without remorse)

    And I feel it
    And I feel it
    Where ya going to tomorrow?
(*I am certain you will come back to me)

Where ya going with that mask I found?
(*youre going home with me in your mind)

And I feel, and I feel
When the dogs begin to smell her
    Will she smell alone?
(*So when his suspicions arise will he suspect about me?)

And I feel, so much depends on the weather
So is it raining in your bedroom?
(* It all depends on your relationship now with him, and lack of desire for him)

And I see, that these are the eyes of disarray
    Would you even care?
(*I know trouble will come, are you ready)

    And I feel it
    And she feels it
    Where ya going to tomorrow?
    (*)

Where ya going with that mask I found?
    (*)

And I feel, and I feel
When the dogs begin to smell her
    Will she smell alone?
    (*)

When the dogs do find her
Got time, time, to wait for tomorrow
(*When he discovers your infidelity, ill be here waiting.)

My Interpretation:Here's what I think. Because they wrote the song about a homicide in San Diego, I am thinking that the song is from the point of view of the investigating detective.

    And I feel that time's a wasted
[every minute counts, we need to start looking for her]

    Go
So where ya going to tomorrow?
[wondering where the murderer is going to go next]

And I see that these are lies to come
[knows when he finds the guy, he's only going to lie about it]

    Would you even care?
[does the murderer care about the victim, does he care that he is going to get caught?]

    And I feel it
    And I feel it
[the detective has a hunch about where to look]

Where ya going with that mask I found?
    [the police find a clue]

When the dogs begin to smell her
    Will she smell alone?
[police dogs have located the body - she's abandoned alone]

And I feel, so much depends on the weather
[murders, drive-bys, muggings don't usually take place in the rain/bad wheather]

So is it raining in your bedroom?
[would the murder/rapist attack even when it's raining?]

And I see, that these are the eyes of disarray
    [maybe - because he's crazy]

General Comment:The lyrics were inspired, in part, by an unfortunate news story in Stone Temple Pilots' hometown of San Diego, California about a missing young woman who was later discovered dead by local law enforcement ("And I feel, when the dogs begin to smell her..."). At a concert in Columbus, Ohio on May 17, 2008, lead singer Scott Weiland said that he and STP drummer Eric Kretz wrote the lyrics in a hot tub after hearing the news story

My Interpretation:My apologies if I missed someone with a similar answer, because I didn't read them all but I feel compelled to add my own 2¢: One of the greatest things about music and song lyrics is that everyone that hears a song, especially one as controversial as this, interprets it differently. A true artist wields a brush with a broad stroke and creates intentionally ambiguous lyrics so that the listener can form their own opinion. So there really is no right or wrong interpretation, just enjoy it for what it is: a plush masterpiece by one of the most impressive bands of our lifetimes.

General Comment:This song is about a doomed relationship. As for a rape meaning, your thinking about STP's other song "Sex Type Thing".
