Lyrics for Crown Of Thorns as interpreted by bikiniekillgrrrl

Crown Of Thorns Lyrics
You ever hear the story of Mr. faded glory?
Say, "He who rides a pony must someday fall."
I was talking to my alter.
Says life is what you make it and if you make it death.
Well, rest your soul away. Away. Away.

It's a broken kind of feeling.
She'll have to tie me to the ceiling.
A bad moon's coming better say your prayers.
I want to tell you that I love you. But does it really matter?
I just can't stand to see you dragging down again. Again. Again, yeah.

So I'm singing and this is my kind of love.
It's the kind that moves on.
It's the kind that leaves you alone. Yeah.
Oh, this is my kind of love.
It's the kind that moves on.
It's the kind that leaves me alone.

I used to treat you like a lady.
Now you're my substitute teacher.
This bottle's not a pretty, not a pretty sight.
I owe a man some money so I'm turning over, honey.
Ah, Mr. faded glory is once again doing time. Oh yeah.

This is my kind of love.
It's the kind that moves on.
It's the kind that leaves me alone. Yeah.
This is my kind of love.
It's the kind that moves on.
It's the kind that, it's the kind that, leaves me alone. Yeah.

Like a crown of thorns it's all who you know.
So don't burn your bridges because someday yeah.

So I'm singing this is my kind of love.
It's the kind that moves on.
It's the kind that leaves me alone. Yeah.
Oh, this is my kind of love.
It's the kind that moves on.
It's the kind that leaves me alone.

Don't burn your bridges.

the cover is probably a result of the connection from mother love bone to pearl jam (and temple of the Dog) all great music to look into

Pearl Jam IS Mother Love Bone, minus Andrew Wood... more of a transformation than a connection, in my opinion.

we will never now how big this song would have been if andy didnt die. But to me its proof that he (or MLB) had a lot of potential as a songwriter.

andy's death is both a good thing and a bad thing...before you kill me for saying its a good thing just hear me out. its a bad thing cause first of all death is a bad and sad thing. also its bad cause MLB is, or, was a kick ass band...but if andy didnt die...we would have no pearl jam. no betterman no nothing man, no even flow, no nothing that even resembles pearl jam except for the members. but who knows maybe MLB would of turned out to be a better band than pearl jam

there's no way mother love bone would have been better than pearl jam, that being said, if he didn't die, who knows, maybe mike mcready and eddie form kickass bands of their own. I mean, mcready's side project Mad Season was unbelievable and that was just a side project. Furthermore, MLB wouldn't have lasted very long probably anyway, which would have allowed stone and jeff to do other things which could have been great as well

I always took the song to mean a guy who has a fast life style and because of it has to go to jail and thus has to end it with chloe. He loves her but feels uncomfortable in committed relationships so he's cool with the whole thing.

Yeah i think the same JBIII but idk. I know this is just the Crown Of Thorns part of the song but in Chloe Dancer...idk it seems almost that Chloe is leaving him...maybe not. He definately wants to forget her though and not think about her.."dreams like this must die" it hurts him so much. But then in the Crown of Thorns part.."he who rides the pony must someday fall" so does that mean that everything in life might be going good, no matter what..something will go wrong. It cant be perfect for ever.."a bad moons comin" and with " i wanna tell u that i love u but does it really matter?" "this is my kind of love..its the kind that moves on,..leaves me alone" hmf. haha i think this has gotten me more confused. so basically he just wants to move on and leave because possibly if the "doin time" is real or figurative idk..its all who u know. like a crown of thorns. even crowns and good and being happy have pain? ---well thats my 2 cents..feed off of it or w/e.

PJ does an amazing cover of this song. Eddie's performance is so heartfelt on the Garden DVD.

Anyways, it's about how booze and drugs can cost you valuable friendships and relationships.

"He who rides the pony must someday fall."

"Pony" is slang for crack cocaine.

Sadly, we'll never know the potential MLB had, especially as a live act. It took a long time for Pearl Jam to become a top notch act that plays every night as if it were their last show.

Grunge would still take over the mainstream had it not been for heavy drug use in Seattle. Eddie would still be great with another talented bunch of musicians. PJ had it rocky in the early years in terms of getting along. Ed Ved was at least rumored to be a huge control freak. There were times when Jeff and Stone had serious thoughts about quitting the band, especially in the mid-90's. Fortunately, that seems to have cleared up, and every member of the band has written some really good stuff since the Yield era.
