Do you remember the 21st night of September?
Love was changing the mind of pretenders
While chasing the clouds away

Our hearts were ringing
In the key that our souls were singing.
As we danced in the night,
Remember - how the stars stole the night away, yeah yeah yeah.

Hey hey hey,
Ba de ya - say do you remember
Ba de ya - dancing in September
Ba de ya - never was a cloudy day

Ba duda, ba duda, ba duda, badu
Ba duda, badu, ba duda, badu
Ba duda, badu, ba duda

My thoughts are with you
Holding hands with your heart to see you
Only blue talk and love,
Remember - how we knew love was here to stay

Now December found the love that we shared in September.
Only blue talk and love,
Remember - the true love we share today

Hey hey hey
Ba de ya - say do you remember
Ba de ya - dancing in September
Ba de ya - never was a cloudy day.......there was a
Ba de ya - say do you remember
Ba de ya - dancing in September
Ba de ya - golden dreams were shiny days

Now our bell was ringing, aha
Our souls were singing.
Do you remember every cloudy day - yau !

There was a
Ba de ya - say do you remember
Ba de ya - dancing in September
Ba de ya - never was a cloudy day.......there was a
Ba de ya - say do you remember
Ba de ya - dancing in September
Ba de ya - golden dreams were shiny days

Ba de ya de ya de ya
Ba de ya de ya de ya
Ba de ya de ya de ya - De ya..... X2

My Interpretation:I have always liked this song for the party aspect. Just recently, a contestant on American Idol, Colton Dixon, sang it and the lyrics really resonated with me. Maybe because he really slowed it down. I have had this song on repeat for three days. This may sound crazy but this song completely describes the time period when I gave my life to the Lord. September 30th (close to the 21st), I had an emotional breakdown. In October, I gave my life to the Lord. In December, I was baptized. Even though this was the toughest time emotionally for me in my life, it was the most beautiful because I fell in love with Jesus and I realized that He loved me through it. I feel him speaking to me through this song<3

General Comment:I am sorry - but THIS great band? All the incredible MUSIC they put forth?
And not one comment on their other offerings but 22 comments on "September"?

You people aren't fans. Forget about it.

Talk to me about "Gratitude". Talk to me about "Spirit".

    Dang.

General Comment:I've always loved their name and their has always been great. But do you realize there was like
a whole population up on stage? Like "Yes",or Emerson,Wakeman,Howell or Emerson,Lake&Palmer.
Like 30 dudes on one stage!

General Comment:The song is about the "seasons of love" and how they change. I agree with Journey and Vivy it's a look back at high school when innocence and essence of our love relationships are IDEALIZED. This song came out during my senior year in high school. My girl friend and I used to count down the days of 4-years of college that were ahead of us and then we would get married. Check out that lyric "now our bells were ringing and our souls were singing..."

My Opinion:Sounds like they're shouting out "Beijo" which was another one of their songs.

General Comment:one of those songs that just captures certain moments in time. kinda what it does for me. even though there really was no "love-affair" involved, it just takes me back to September 08: homecoming game, parties, the music I liked, and just a bunch of carefree sophmores all in good moods, starting the school year off fresh after a long, relaxing summer.

the one thing that truly annoyed me though was when I heard the homecoming dance was "cancelled," but they had one anyway and no one told me so I missed it. but now when I hear the line "danced in the night," I remember the halftime show at the top of the bleachers, "piano man" coming on over the PA system and my friend and his ex dancing.

General Comment:No matter my mood, this song makes it better. Slightly pointless, but one of my all-time favorites.
