Every man has a place
In his heart there's a space
And the world can't erase his fantasies
Take a ride in the sky
On our ship fantasise
All your dreams will come true right away

And we will live together
Until the twelfth of never
Our voices will ring forever as one

Every thought is a dream
Rushing by in a stream
Bringing life to your kingdom of doing
Take a ride in the sky
On our ship fantasise
All your dreams will come true miles away

Our voices will ring together
Until the twelfth of never
We all will love together as one

Come to see victory
In a land called fantasy
Loving life a new degree
Bring your mind to everlasting liberty

As one

Come to see victory
In a land called fantasy
Loving life for you and me
To behold to your soul is ecstasy
You will find other kind
That has been in search of you
Many lives have brought you to
Recognise it's your life now in review

As you stay for the play
Fantasy has in store for you
A glowing light will see you through
It's your day shining day
All your dreams come true

As you glide in your stride
With the wind as you fly away
Give a smile from your lips and say
Are you free yes I'm free
And I'm on my way

General Comment:This song is certainly about the transition to the after life (Heaven). People without religion will attempt to diminish religion in anything and everything.

While Maurice may have watched any number of Sci-Fi movies. The transition to the after life may take part in some form of a Heavenly ship. Certain Light it's self is refered to when one is leaving this life and going to the next (who's to say Light is not that ship)

Could the song possibly mean to enter the after life one must have faith, and is fantasy not an everlasting faith?

Song Meaning:This song isn't about the afterlife; religious people will find religious meaning in anything.
Maurice White was inspired to write this after watching Close Encounters of the Third Kind ("take a ride in the sky on a ship"), not after having some religious epiphany.

The song simply says that every achieved dream or aspiration has its beginning in fantasy, and not to take fantasy for granted. It's that simple.

Memory:I remember listening to this song randomly on the CD player, driving, heart-broken, during some evening in the army. always stirs up that memory for me. a wonderful piece from their classic All'n'All.

General Comment:I agree that it's about the spirit making the transition to the afterlife...the life review, your soul is in ecstasy, the glowing light. I had always liked this song, but hadn't given the lyricss much thought until I had a strange experience connected to it. A friend of mine who loved life tremendously was killed in a mototcycle accident. I was driving home from the funeral and felt that he must be really free now and on an amazing trip now leaving the Earth, kind of imagining him watching all of us. "Fantasy" came on the radio just then, and I was amazed when I really listened to the lyrics. It fit perfectly. Now I always think of Joel when I hear it. I think Earth Wind and Fire were/are way ahead of their time. The lyrics sound like "New Age" philosophy. Wonderful song!!

General Comment:I think the song is describing going to heaven, and living there..
but that wouldnt play well on the 70's radio stations..

    Every man has a place
In his heart there's a space
And the world can't erase his fantasies
Take a ride in the sky (GOING TO HEAVEN)
    On our ship fantasise
All your dreams will come true right away

And we will live together (NEVER DIE IN HEAVEN)
    Until the twelfth of never
Our voices will ring forever as one

Come to see victory (LOTS OF SONGS AND HYMNALS DESCRIBE VICTORY IN HEAVEN)
    In a land called fantasy
    Loving life a new degree
Bring your mind to everlasting liberty

    Come to see victory
    In a land called fantasy
Loving life for you and me
To behold to your soul is ecstasy (YOUR SOUL , NOT BODY, GOES TO HEAVEN)
    You will find other kind
That has been in search of you (OLD FAMILY MEMBERS THAT HAS PASSED MEET YOU IN HEAVEN)
Many lives have brought you to
Recognise it's your life now in review (WHEN YOU DIE YOU SEE YOUR LIFE IN REVIEW AND ARE JUDGED)

As you stay for the play
Fantasy has in store for you
A glowing light will see you through (GOD IS A GLOWING LIGHT SHINING DOWN)
It's your day shining day (ALSO A SHINING DAY, AS YOU GET TO HEAVEN)
All your dreams come true (EVERYTHING IS PERFECT AND DREAMS COME TRUE IN HEAVEN)

As you glide in your stride
With the wind as you fly away (YOU FLY AWAY ON WINGS IN HEAVEN)
Give a smile from your lips and say
Are you free yes I'm free
And I'm on my way (ON YOUR WAY TO HEAVEN)

just replace the word fantasy with heaven in this song and you will
see what i mean.. i really believe it started as a church/faith
based song but the lyrics were changed for the radio and acceptance..
    any other ideas?
