The Next Episode Lyrics
[Snoop Dogg]
La-da-da-da-dahh

Bitches lookin at me strange but you know I don't care
Step up in this motherfucker just a-swangin my hair
Bitch quit talkin, quick walk if you down with the set
Take a bullet with some dick and take this dope from this jet
Out of town, put it down for the Father of Rap
And if yo' ass get cracked, bitch shut yo' trap
Come back, get back, that's the part of success
If you believe in the X you'll be relievin your stress

At the end of Nuthin' But a G Thang, Snoop ends it with "So just chill to the next episode" Whether the two intended to do a follow up originally or not, i have no idea. But this song marks Dre's return to the mainstream, and who better to do it with then Snoop Dogg.

In grade 6 this was my number one song. I just downloaded it (psst, illegaly) and I can't stop laughing. No matter how old I get this song will never get old. I won't ever like it the way I did in grade 6 but it'll always bring an aching laugh.

Dre is a biter. He bit this beat from Missin Linx. Check out the track "MIA" and you'll see what I mean.

How can any music fan, even rock lovers, not see the genius of some of dre's catchy tunes. If they can't they are either narrow minded or just immature.

oball-> Why are you being a hater??

I can't se ANY similarities between the two songs.

Dre is not a biter!! He is the best rapper/producer out there!

From Wikipedia:

"David McCallum recorded in the 1960s some albums for Capitol Records with producer David Axelrod, such as Music: A Bit More of Me (1966) and Music: It's Happening Now! (1967). The most well known of his pieces today is arguably The Edge, which was sampled by Dr. Dre as the intro and riff to the track The Next Episode."

I don't know who Missin Linx are but they're obviously down with that 60s sh*t just like Dre is.

There really is no problem here, all hip-hop is based on sampling.

We gon' rock it til the wheels fall off!!!

Here's a page which explains everything about the sample:

http://www.scissorkick.com/2005/08/david-axelrod_08.html

Click "The Edge" link under the picture to hear the track (I guess, instrumental version) and be prepared to have your musical knowledge expanded, oball.

Brilliant, but just waiting for the "da-da-da-dahh" bit which never comes!

Nice bit of research, yes?

One more link. An interview with Axelrod, where he talks about the Dre track, and check this - he's South Central raised like Dre...

Hip-Hop is based alot on sampling but then again alot of that 60s/70s/80s music that is used for sampling is just 30s/40s/50s (Jazz,Blues, etc)music that was sped up or "electrified".

I think where hip-hop adds to the music is the beats and base-lines, that's generally where you get most of the originality and it can completely change the song. Also listening to a good rapper's ability to hit the beat and convey emotion to the poetry is compelling.

How rap went from this to "CRANK DAT SOULJA BOY" in the span of six years, I will never know.
