Lyrics for Foreclosure Of A Dream as interpreted by Boonechic_21

Foreclosure Of A Dream Lyrics
Rise so high, yet so far to fall
A plan of dignity and balance for all
Political breakthrough, euphoria's high
More borrowed money, more borrowed time
Backed in a corner, caught up in the race
Means to an end ended in disgrace
Perspective is lost in the spirit of the chase

Foreclosure of a dream
Those visions never seen
Until all is lost
Personal holocaust
Foreclosure of a dream

barren land that once filled a need
Are worthless now, dead without a deed
Slipping away from an iron grip
Nature's scales are forced to tip
The heartland cries, loss of all pride
To leave ain't believing, so try and be tried
Insufficient funds, insanity and suicide

Foreclosure of a dream
Those visions never seen
Until all is lost
Personal holocaust
Foreclosure of a dream

Now with new hope some will be proud
This is no hoax, no one pushed out
Recieve a preieve and bea pioneer
Break new ground of a new frontier
New ideas will surely get by
No deed, or divident
Some may ask, "Why?"
You'll find the solution, the answer's in the sky

Foreclosure of a dream
Those visions never seen
Until all is lost
Personal holocaust
Foreclosure of a dream

Rise so high, yet so far to fall
A plan of dignity and balance for all
Political breakthrough, euphoria's high
More borrowed money, more borrowed time

Foreclosure of a dream
Those visions never seen
Until all is lost
Personal holocaust
Foreclosure of a dream

Holocaust

This song is how family owned businesses (in this case farming) are being destroyed by large rich conglomerate corporations.

Foreclosure of a Dream is about something that happened with Ellefson's family under the Reagan administration in Hartland, Minnesota. Dave says, "It's about reagonmics and how it took advantage of the real nucleus of America — the farmers."

This song is so sad, it's about normal people who buy the house of their dreams only to become another sub-prime foreclosure statistic.

"You'll find the solution, the answers in the sky." - Am I the only person who thinks Dave is talking about religion in this line? When ever I hear it I think he's talking about his faith in God.

I think he is talking about using their land as huge solar collectors for our endless energy consumption. The sun is the answer in the sky. The wind is also in the sky for windmill farms. Like any business, a farm has to grow and change with the times. Just like the folks at the RIAA, the farms are a dying business unless they grow and adapt.

Oh and by the way, there is no god. You should have figured that out about the time you found out your parents had been lying to you for years about a fat ass cracker that sneaks into your house and leaves you presents.

the song is about how farmers are gettin' screwed over by a gov't who doesn't care about what keeps this nation ticking. all they see is an oppurtunity to fill their wallets a little more. when mustaine says "the answers in the sky" i believe that he is talking about asking God for help. he has openly admitted that he is a christian so i think some of his songs reflect that.

yeah but he always has some more stuff if you think deeper about it when he says the answer is in the sky a lot of agricultural societies prayed to their gods maybe for more rain

and when he is talking about the land being barren there is some hint to the fact that we overuse the land and that's another way we lose money and land is not having enough money for enough land to wisely plant crops so they have to use whatever they have due to high costs and then when the land has no more use you're screwed

agreed! Mustaine is a fkn beast on guitar. One of my favorites. If only metallica and him would have gotten along, they could have been something great

I'm glad Metallica got rid of Mustaine, it meant that Mustaine could go on to form the far superior Megadeth and Metallica got stuck with Kirk 'Sloppy WAH' Hammett.

I can listen to Metallica...I might even enjoy some of it, but when it comes to technical ability, creativity and songwriting, Megadeth take the crown.

In my opinion, when Dave states, 'you'll find the solution in the sky' he is talking about how nothing in life is every justified and fair and is always a big fight, hence the line ' break new ground be a pioneer'. This might be the reason why Dave became religious later in life. BTW I didn't look to deep into this song so hit me up if it is wrong.
