He said I'm gonna buy this place and burn it down
I'm gonna put it six feet underground
He said I'm gonna buy this place and watch it fall
Stand here beside me baby in the crumbling walls
Oh I'm gonna buy this place and start a fire
Stand here until I fill all your heart's desires
Because I'm gonna buy this place and see it burn
Do back the things it did to you in return

Ah, ah, ah
Ah, ah, ah

He said I'm gonna buy a gun and start a war
If you can tell me something worth fighting for
Oh and I'm gonna buy this place, that's what I said
Blame it upon a rush of blood to the head

And honey all the movements you're starting to make
See me crumble and fall on my face
And I know the mistakes that I made
See it all disappear without a trace
And they call as they beckon you on
They said start as you mean to go on
Start as you mean to go on

He said I'm gonna buy this place and see it go
Stand here beside my baby watch the orange glow
Some'll laugh and some just sit and cry
You just sit down there and you wonder why
So I'm gonna buy a gun and start a war
If you can tell me something worth fighting for
And I'm gonna buy this place, that's what I said
Blame it upon a rush of blood to the head
Oh to the head

And honey all the movements you're starting to make
See me crumble and fall on my face
And I know the mistakes that I made
See it all disappear without a trace
And they call as they beckon you on
They say start as you mean to go on
As you mean to go on, as you mean to go on

So meet me by the bridge, meet me by the lane
When am I gonna see that pretty face again
Meet me on the road, meet me where I said
Blame it all upon
A rush of blood to the head

Memory:Cried the entire time listening to this song. You'd do anything and everything to rid of the past between you and this person because of the burning desire and love you have for this person. This one is not necessarly the right person, but it doesn't matter, you act on impulse. You'd burn cities down and start wars in the name of love, you'd essentially die for this person, just to show how much you love them. But at the end it's a plea, a cry to meet you halfway, because after you promise all these things, you need them to feel the same way in the end, or at least come back, and fight for you as well.

I needed you, to come back and fight for me, too.

My Interpretation:I think that this song is about an unstable relationship. The Speaker (I presume is a he, but no necessarily) is passionately involved with the object of his love (a female, but not necessarily) is not, and may even be using him. He tries desperately to demonstrate power and please his love saying "He'll buy a place" ('buy' - power) and then 'burn it down', to 'Do back the things it did to you in return'. He says he'll "buy a gun and start a war" if she tells him "something worth fighting for". So he is totally dominated, wants to impress, to please his love and blames all his passionate actions to "a rush of blood to the head" (that can even be interpreted sexually).

She then starts either to notice his wrong acts done in the name of love or (if she has been using him the whole time) she starts to reveal herself, making "movements" to see him "crumble and fall on his face".

At the end he seems to regret his mistakes, and asks his love to meet him by the bridge (halfway, somewhere neutral), meet him on the road (also a connection point). Wonders if he'll ever see his love again and, once again, blames his mistakes to his passion, to "A Rush of Blood to the Head".

General Comment:This is such a great song, I think it's about a dystopic relationship, yet they still love each other so much. They just weren't meant to be together, but in their eyes they are.

General Comment:It's about committing arson to something he owns, so it's not really illegal, but immoral. He blames it on 'a rush of blood to the head' and I think he means adrenaline.
After it's over with he feels remorse and just wants to get out of the place.

By saying 'and I know the mistakes that I've made; see it all disappear without trace' he means he knows what he's done, but with arson, there is very little evidence.

That's just my basic interpretation- being a crime scene analyst.

My Opinion:I just get a huge sense of desperation and strain from this song. This narrator is struggling with something, stuck between rationality and impulse. Whether it's right or wrong doesn't exactly matter, but why they're doing it does. The narrator is so desperate that he/she is willing to start a war or burn a town down to please whoever was wronged.

General Comment:I definitely agree with a lot of people here. The girl can't forget the past, so he tries to destroy it. "Stand here untill I fill all your heart's desires", sounds like he's waiting for her to see that the past is gone, so she will come back to him.

My Interpretation:This song promoted the fact that humans are just that, human. We make mistakes and we do odd things, sometimes for no apparent reason. But most of all we love. Love can drive someone to burn their past to the ground and start new and for that love, he will start a war if thats what she wants. He wants to do anything/everything for her.

My Interpretation:Have you people ever thought about this song meaning something like... cheating?
As if a guy is tempted by a girl, maybe someone he had a story before the actual relationship and now they are having a thing... and he is confused... he needs to choose whether to keep it down, whether to "start a war" with this girlfriend and be with "the other".

"So meet me by the bridge
Oh meet me by the lake
When am I gonna see that pretty face again?
    Meet me on the road
    Meet me where I said
Blame it all upon a rush of blood to the head"

He is terribly confused... but at the end, he just wants to meet her... after he is done with "burning down the house" of his actual relationship. And he'll just blame it on a rush of blood to the head. He'll blame it on an impulse, because he can't resist her and she wants him badly as well.
