This is a fantastic song and justifies exactly why I am going to see them in concert on October 4th. It's such a moving song and once again I'm going to have to hand it to Chris Martin for another excellent song. The album is released on the 26th of August and frankly I cant wait, it might even better the last one and watchout for the song Warning Sign, simply phenomenal!

Basically, this song is saying that "he" screwed up. He doesn't know how to explain it, because it was against reason, whatever he did. He wants to be able to explain what he did with science and reasoning, but he just can't, because love doesn't work like that. And this person means everything to him, so he wants to try it over again, but the other person thinks that there should be something to explain it.

My favorite song I've heard by Coldplay. I can't wait 'til the new album comes out tomorrow.

The first time I listened to this song I had just got the cd on my lunch hour and sat in my cubicle fighting back tears. Play it loud, it is beautiful.

I have to say, this is my favorite song on the entire album. When they performed it on the $2 bill tour on MTV2, i was totally taken by it. This song is so amazing.

I love this song! Its the best on the album, and I could listen to it over and over again. I think what Chris is talking about is how a relationship fell through, and he tries to figure out what went wrong in very linear (scientific) ways. However, no matter how he looks at it, he can't figure out just what went wrong; the equation never adds up. Such a beautifully sung song.

I just love the last minute or so of this song. His wordless singing captures the pain and heartache of the song better than any words could. He sounds so hollow and empty; as if he were too hurt to even form the words to express himself and all he can get out is an agonizing howl.

haha....Lis_00 i so agree! poor chris, but amazing material...i love the part 'you don't know how lovely you are'. he's begging her to return back to what their relationship was before, but this line seems sort of like a side note, like when he is explaining things and asking to return to the start he has made this observation and is taken aback by it. i don't know, just a thought ;o)

i saw them on the $2 bill on mtv2, I was just flipping thru the channels then I heard this song, and I fell in love with it. It's such a sad song, but somehow I can relate to it because usually after a break-up I'm just sitting there on my couch trying to figure what did i do wrong or where did everything go wrong. I love Coldplay, there music is there when I need it.

This song is classy. Best off the album. I dont think he sings with emotion. To me singing with emotion sounds different to this. But he DOES have an amazing voice.

this is my favorite song on the album...reminds me of an exboyfriend. I think its about overanalyzing a relationship rather than just letting love take you away...and then realizing your mistate too late.

For me this song is about a love lost already. I think that the words "come back and haunt me" signify that the person is either dead or that the relationship has been long lost. I wonder sometimes if it's about finding that choosing logic over love is a mistake.

This song brings me to tears, because i relate to everything he says. im loosing the love of my life, my best friend, my life. how i wish i could change everything. this is a magical song, so beautiful, so heart wrenching. You can hear the heart break in his voice....

I honestly wished I would have waited to get the CD and listen to the song, but the song does seem to fit the mood that I'm in in, so it's all good. I've loved Coldplay since "Yellow" was released way back in like late December of '99. I have yet to buy either of their albums, but I have a birthday coming up soon, and "Parachutes" and "Rush" on the first on my list. Twenty three days and counting.

how can you say he sings with no emotion? i don't believe we're listening to the same song. The part when he says, "tell you I set you apart" is my personal favorite line- cause hey, who wouldn't like someone to feel that way about them?

yeah...this song definitely put into lyrics the thoughts I have been feeling about the relationship I broke off...I don't know what I did and I don't know whether I should tell him again...I keep thinking and I want to come back to him and I want to love him like I did at the beginning. I don't know what to do.

Im going to see colplay tomorrow and if they dont play this song Im going to die!! This song is so beautiful and the first time I heard it, it brought me to tears because I was with a guy I didnt love and was missing the one I did.
