Lyrics for Beautiful Day as interpreted by kevin

Beautiful Day Lyrics
The heart is a bloom,
Shoots up through the stony ground
But there's no room,
No space to rent in this town

You're out of luck
And the reason that you had to care,
The traffic is stuck
And you're not moving anywhere.

You thought you'd found a friend
To take you out of this place
Someone you can lend a hand
In return for grace
It's a beautiful day
The sky falls
And you feel like it's a beautiful day
Don't let it get away

You're on the road
But you've got no destination
You're in the mud
In the maze of her imagination

You love this town
Even if it doesn't ring true
You've been all over
And it's been all over you

It's a beautiful day
Don't let it get away
It's a beautiful day

Touch me, Take me to that other place
Teach me, I know I'm not a hopeless case

See the world in green and blue
See China right in front of you
See the canyons broken by cloud
See the tuna fleets clearing the sea out
See the bedouin fires at night
See the oil fields at first light, and
See the bird with the leaf in her mouth
After the flood, all the colors came out

It was a beautiful day
Don't let it get away
Beautiful day

Touch me, take me to that other place
Reach me, I know I'm not a hopeless case

What you don't have you don't need it now
What you don't know you can feel it somehow
What you don't have you don't need it now
Don't need it now
Was a beautiful day.

wow. i agree, why hasn't this got thousands of posts? this is such an amazing song, and if you listen to it even on a miserable day somehow you feel happier, it makes you take in all the small things in every day life and appreciate them and get happiness from that appreciation. i love it . . .

“The heart is a bloom,
Shoots up from the stony ground”
Bible reference to the creation of Adam by God

“There’s no room,
No space to rent in this town”
Bible reference, no place for Mary and Joseph to stay.

"See the bird with a leaf in her mouth"
Bible refernece to noahs ark, as well as "after the flood all the colours came out"

thios song is full of refernces to the eraly years in the bible, creation and noah's ark, its a beautiful day because the world has been cleansed by the flood, "the sky falls" the rain that lasts for 40 days and nights.
Pay attention to the fact that bono is a christian and an activist, he puts heart and soul in his songs

the saints are coming is actually an awesome song. i think this song is about realising that problems that are consuming you actually mean very little when you think about the awesomeness of gods creations and the world around you. woot its my birthday

This is a really inspiring song. It really does help you appriciate the little things in life and it helped me during a day that wasn't so great in my life and opened my eyes.

Dod needs to shape up, lol. I write from after the song was released, and it was GREAT, so shape up mister.

I LOVE THIS SONG, its really good when you listen to it at a clear beach or in the forest, try it! And what is scary is as soon as I started writing this the song came on, lol. Its about this world, how wonderful it is, and to put it simply, its about A BEAUTIFUL DAY!

This song reminds me of when Triple H had torn his quadricep and leading up to his comeback after nearly 7 or 8 months of rehab.

Amazing feel good song.. I love it, I'm horrible at song meanings but I find it just as keep your head up, there's plenty of chances that are going to come up today, don't stay in the past and miss the new things to come
..plan to make a snowboarding montage to it this season

Quite possibly a song about patience. The key phrase for me, “What you don’t have you don’t need it now”. When things seem hopeless, empty, we sometimes have to wait patiently for that right moment to take us out of our despair. If we attempt to get rid of the despair with distractions and false hope, we could miss out on the real beauty in life. That’s where the all the great imagery at the end of the song comes from (the world in green and blue, canyons broken by clouds....)

I think this song is about valuing the things we have in life even when things are down and you've lost so much, you should realize that you've still got so much more left.

This song is just plain lovely,. The lyrics are kinda contradictory to title in parts but the melody is nice. I think it is one of those hopeful songs by u2
I can't get enough of Bono's voice lol

krisomnia0903 - Of course the lyrics are contradictory, that is the point.

It's amazing the number of people who catch the obvious optimism in the song but miss the depression and sorrow.

The song uses the metaphor of leaving town, to describe escaping difficult times with optimism.

Wow, this song is not about Jesus. Bono said it himself when the song was first released that it's about having nothing in life, yet you're still happy.

It's a beautiful day, don't let it get away"

Everybody has to learn to stop constantly staring at the dirty ground they're standing on, and acknowledging the pretty sky above them.
I know this is a cliche...but life's too short to remember only the ugly days.

i love this song. i wasn't born in the golden age of u2, but ever since i listened to kurt nilsen sing this in world idol i was totally amazed by the song. it's so darn optimistic, and lush and comforting and ALWAYS sends goosebumps down my arms. thank you u2 for this wonderful song.

This song is so overrated. It seems underwritten to me, simple in a bad way: lowest common denominator, dumbed-down lyrics and trite metaphors for people who don't get 90% of rock lyrics. (Flame away, I don't care and probably won't see it anyway. Before you do, though, compare this with the lyrics of Achtung Baby and tell me with a straight face this is U2's best song!)
