Generals gathered in their masses
Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction
Sorcerer of death's construction
In the fields, the bodies burning
As the war machine keeps turning
Death and hatred to mankind
Poisoning their brainwashed minds
Oh, Lord, yeah

Politicians hide themselves away
They only started the war
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that all to the poor
Yeah

Time will tell on their power minds
Making war just for fun
Treating people just like pawns in chess
Wait 'til their judgment day comes
Yeah

Now in darkness, world stops turning
Ashes where their bodies burning
No more war pigs have the power
Hand of God has struck the hour
Day of judgment, God is calling
On their knees, the war pig's crawling
Begging mercies for their sins
Satan, laughing, spreads his wings
Oh, Lord, yeah

the song is saying that war is a tool used by people with power to gain more power and get richer. the soldiers are nothing. they are merely pawns to do the governments bidding. i can assure you that it has nothing to do with psychotic-gunna-blow-up-the-world bush or fat, perverted clinton. it is against war plain and simple

fuck war, fuck that ass fucker president bush who is gonna kill the world for his own adgenda. the only good war would be a revolution against the coruptness of the current class system in the usa and the gov its self. I hate the thought of war but if those fuckers sitting in an office are going to fuck everyone over and kill the world and who ever they dont kill they make slaves for the coporations that can pay off their represenates in congress then kill em all.

I wouldn't really say that this is an anti-Vietnam war song. Sure, it came out during the Vietnam war, but the lyrics are more about war in general. That's why a lot of people are applying it current world affairs.

    The confusion seems strange.

    Facts

1 it's an anti war song that describes the stupidity of those who fight for the rich and the corruption of the rich in sending the poor to die for them

2 it uses biblical imagery--especially the Book of Revelation about the end of the world

Which war seems to be the question. It must have some reference to the Vietnam way. Likely it alludes to the second world war and the first. Birmingham where they are from was bombed to pieces during the war. It also points to end of the world--perhaps they had in mind a battle of Armageddon.

Seems obvious that Ozzy doesn't want it to apply to the current political situation. He has got too much to lose. He was young and energetic when they made this; now he is a media clown.

He was pretty good in the 70's with Sabbath, but he is just a parady of a parody these days. No wonder Toni used to beat the shit out of him in school.

The song was actually changed after its initial release. If you haven't heard the original version it was title Walpurgis which is a Satanic ritual/celebration. After it was thought to be too Satanic in nature the band adjusted it. So despite the original meaning which is simply an interpretation of what the ritual looks like, I will stick to the updated interpretation of the song titled War Pigs.

While many people seem to think that this is a anti-Vietnam song as it was released around that same time frame, Black Sabbath is from Great Britain and it wasn't as pronounced of an event in their early days, which is confirmed by the members. It was simply an anti-war song and has been recounted with every war to come since the American troops invaded Indochina.

The first verse in the song compare politicians and generals that make up and lead wars as the real culprits behind all the evil doing that stems from war. It borrows from the original lyrics, "Just like witches at black masses." Since the witches represent an evil, Satanic ritual, these founders of war are similarly doing something Satanic. The plotting of their destruction turns into bodies burning and continues to fuel the "war machine." These wars bring nothing but pain and agony and it they are brought about through deceit and lies.

Most wars are constructed by many different factions and stem from different events which fall on the economy, cultural differences, humanitarian issues, as well as many others. The song tries to convey that everything that leads to a war starts at the root of evil. There shouldn't be any reason great enough to appeal to something that is in turn a simple definition of evil.

The second verse goes into how the politicians that start the wars just pin it down on the poor masses and there are different incentives which the lure the public into accepting these types of risks. If a poor fella wants to make something of himself all he needs to do is enlist. He will get the proper training that will turn him into a man. He will get a chance to do something useful with his life. He will be build up with his countries pride. He will have the opportunity to learn new skills and a shot to go to college. It's a seriously tempting position, and they will accept just about anyone and mold that individual. The veterans who do manage to successfully endure and finish their service or those who get out early due to honorable discharge for whatever reason will receive a lifetime of benefits. They may not be the best. However, medical care isn't always easy to come by.

The third verse goes into describing the carelessness of these horrible decisions. The frivolous attitude put towards the decision to actually engage in a full scale battle by our leaders is foreshadowed by the coming of their judgement day.

In the fourth verse the view of what could be construed as the ultimate demise from wars' hand of doom is characterized. The world is no more and it place of the bodies there is nothing but ashes. The "War Pigs", these politicians are done for and have lost their power. The "hand of God" has dawned the day of reckoning. However, it's not just for the leaders responsible for the war, but everyone will have to suffer the cruel fate. In the closing lines those who started the war are assumed to have to face their undoer, Satan. Even though they may beg and plead for forgiveness he laughs and "spreads his wings" to welcome them into his kingdom.

I believe the song has a very powerful message and should be repeated to new generations to continue the stigma that war is evil. I hope it as well as many other sources keep a constant and persistent focus on typecasting war as murder and one of our ultimate threats. With so many inherent evils and natural hazards humanity needs to learn to bond and work on keeping our prosperity on the rise. Otherwise we may all end up crawling on our knees begging for release.

Okay the meaning for this song is simple...Its about how our "pig" pliticans start all the wars and send our poor hard working citizens in to do all the dieing, and how one day they will be judged for their sins and plead for the privilege to walk into the pearly gates of heaven...no need to complicate things

    My Interpretation

for me War Pigs is about the politicians who rule the world, wicked as witches so the people would burn them. They poison the people with their hatred to each other (the war machine) but never fight the wars. (that is for the poor) who they treat as pawns in their games of chess. But the reckoning and the judgement day will come by God. Taking them away to hell by satan (satan spreads their wings)

This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.

“Midnight” is a song about finding a love that is so true that it provides a calming feeling through every storm. Ed Sheeran reflects on his good fortunes in landing someone with such peace and support and speaks of not fearing the dark days because he knows they’ll all end in the safety nets of her arms. “Well, good morning there / What a way to start the day / With everything laid bare,” Ed Sheeran sings in the first verse, enthusiastic to be waking up beside his woman. He apologizes for missing her calls in the second verse and promises to return them because for him, speaking to her is the most important thing. “Well, I get lost inside my head / In this chaos, you’re my calm / And I will find my feet again / ‘Cause еven the worst days of my life will always еnd / At midnight in your arms,” sings Ed Sheeran in the chorus, revelling in his good luck.
