Your cruel device
your blood, like ice
One look, could kill
My pain, your thrill

I want to love you but I better not touch (don?t touch)
I want to hold you, but my senses tell me to stop
I want to kiss you but I want it too much (too much)
I want to taste you but your lips are venomous poison
You're poison, running through my veins
Poison
I don't want to break these chains

Your mouth, so hot
Your web, I'm caught
Your skin, so wet
Black lace, on sweat

I hear you calling and it's needles and pins (and pins)
I want to hurt you just to hear you screaming my name
Don't want to touch you but you're under my skin (deep in)
I want to taste you but your lips are venomous poison
You're poison, running through my veins
Poison
I don't want to break these chains
Poison...

(guitar solo)

One look, could kill
My pain, your thrill

I want to love you but I better not touch (don?t touch)
I want to hold you, but my senses tell me to stop
I want to kiss you but I want it too much (to much)
I want to taste you but your lips are venomous poison
You're poison, running through my veins
Poison
I don't want to break these chains
Poison (Poi-son)

I want to love you but I better not touch (don?t touch)
I want to hold you, but my senses tell me to stop
I want to kiss you but I want it too much (too much)
I want to taste you but your lips are venomous poison
Yeah
Well I don't want to break these chains
Poison
Runnin' deep inside my veins
Burnin' deep inside my brain
Poison
And I don't want to break these chains
Poison

General Comment:this song is obviously about heroin..let me break down the lyrics for you... here goes!

    1.you cruel device= your needle.
your blood like ice= how it feels when the heroin is in your veins.
one look could kill= metaphor for how strong of a drug it is.
my pain your thrill= how the drug loves to see you hurting for more of it.

2.i want to love you but i better not touch= he wants it but it's too addictive.
i want to hold you but my senses tell me to stop= once again too addictive.
i want to kiss you but i want it too much= the cravings for it is too much.
i want to taste you but your lips are venomous posion=too addictive once again.
your poison running through my veins= obviously a reference to shooting up.
i don't wanna break these chains= he doesn't want to stop even though his addicting is chaining him down.

3.Your mouth, so hot= you start getting hot before you get your fix of dope.
Your web, I'm caught= he's strung out and caught up in the drug.
Your skin, so wet= talking about how to heroin is wet when it's in the spoon.
Black lace, on sweat= black lace is a metaphor for heroin and he's talking about sweating from anticipating his next shot.

4.I hear you calling and it's needles and pins= needles and pins are what you get when you do a shot of dope that is really good. also called "a rush"
I want to hurt you just to hear you screaming my name=self explanatory.
Don't want to touch you but you're under my skin= dont want it but it's too late to stop because he is already addicted and the needle is under his skin.
I want to taste you but your lips are venomous poison= the drug is poision.
You're poison, running through my veins= obviously talking about heroin in his veins.

My Opinion:Not necessarily, stoutcarrot. Newly sober alcoholics often struggle with a desire to be sober vs. a desire to drink. He could be saying that as much as he loves drinking, he also wants a sober life, even if it means keeping his addict ego "chained" up.

This song has a lot of interpretations though. At its core, it's about desiring something that is bad for you, which really could be anything.

Song Meaning:"I want to love you but I better not touch"
Sounds to me like she's hurting him in some way... Possibly leading him on, cheating on him, or just plain not interested. Either way he seems to be obsessing over her and that's why she's poison to him.

"I don't want to break these chains"
Even though she's messing him up, he doesn't want to give up on the thought so he's stuck in a dilemma. Also, this line of the song pretty much nullifies the idea that it could be about drugs or alcohol, because he would definitely want to break the chains

Song Meaning:Considering the situation I am in, in real life here- this song to me is about a guy/girl (depending on who's perspective) who loves somebody he shouldn't, for whatever reason. The reason I think this is because of the way he describes how much he loves this guy/girl, but he says that if says or does the way he feels, he would be 'poisoned' or he would get in trouble for what he has done.

My Interpretation:If you insist on this song being purely about a desirable woman with AIDS or some other disease, then what are the chains he sings about? So I think GrtOne41 has the right idea.

I'm thinking this song is about a prostitute or some other desirable woman, but she is poisonous: diseases (like AIDS), invading his mind against his will, she's bad for his life, etc. The chains are the metaphorical bindings to a true relationship he's already in. He doesn't want to cheat.

That's how I immediately saw this song. About a desirable person he should not be desiring.

"My pain, your thrill." Similar to how GrtOne41 put this, I think this means that--regardless if she knows he's in a relationship or not--she'd enjoy being with him, but he would not enjoy being with her because she's poisonous to his life (literally, figuratively, etc.).

General Comment:Nope! It's not about a woman even though everyone thinks so....he wrote this song when he got out of alcohol rehab....the poison he refers to is alcohol.....do a better research on the artist before you give an answer....

General Comment:This song is about being in love with someone but knowing in the back of your mind that they will hurt you:

"I want to hold you but my senses tell me to stop..."
"...I want to kiss you but your lips are venomous poison"

Like they've hurt you so many times, yet you can't get enough. It's like a feeling of being trapped, and there is no way out. This song is so awesome, but so sad :(
