Well we got no choice
All the girls and boys
Makin all that noise
'Cause they found new toys
Well we can't salute ya
Can't find a flag
If that don't suit ya
That's a drag

School's out for summer
School's out forever
School's been blown to pieces

No more pencils
No more books
No more teacher's dirty looks

Well we got no class
And we got no principles (principals)
And we got no innocence
We can't even think of a word that rhymes

School's out for summer
School's out forever
My school's been blown to pieces

No more pencils
No more books
No more teacher's dirty looks

Out for summer
Out 'til fall
We might not come back at all

School's out forever
School's out for summer
School's out with fever
School's out completely

General Comment:I remember years ago when I graduated from high school...at my graduation party that night, I was playing this song. It was just very fitting for that night since I had gotten out of high school.

Song Meaning:To everyone that thinks this is about school, I have a little twist for you. Look closely at the lyrics:

    Well we got no class
    And we got no principles
    And we got no innocence
We can't even think of a word that rhymes....

Okay that stanza is key. I think principles is purposely spelled as is because I think this song refers to losing your virginity. Think about that: "We got no innocence"

    Well we got no choice
    All the girls and boys
    Makin all that noise
    'Cause they found new toys

"Making all that noise" and "found new toys" might also be sexual references. Who knows, perhaps it is about school, but that would be an interesting twist on things: think about it.

General Comment:Last year we called it in to the local rock station as we graduated Jr. High on the last day of school. We convinced our teachers to let us play it on their CD players all day... Surprising since I live Utah, but hey I guess teachers go through more school than they do so they could be glad for it anyway...

    C/O '11 rocks!

General Comment:What can I say about the ultimate anti-school anthem? This song came out when? 1973? I was coming to the end of school days then, loved this song. Still do. Fantastic to see that folks still feel the same about it 30-odd years later. This really is a classic, a song that will go on forever. Alice calls it the National Anthem - he's right-ish, it's a Universal Anthem! Wherever there are schools, this will be played. Amen.

General Comment:High school's definitely out forever! I graduated this May. C/O 2008 is king! But I'm going to college this fall, though. Great song, by the way.
