Oh kiss me out of the bearded barley,
Nightly , beside the green, green grass
Swing, swing, swing the spinning step
You'll wear those shoes and I will wear that dress

Oh, kiss me beneath the milky twilight
Lead me out on the moonlit floor
Lift you open hand
Strike up the band, and make the fireflies dance
Silvermoon's sparkling,
So kiss me

Kiss me down by the broken tree house
Swing me , upon its hanging tire
Bring, bring , bring your flowered hat
We'll take the trail marked on your father's map

Oh, kiss me beneath the milky twilight
Lead me out on the moonlit floor
Lift you open hand
Strike up the band, and make the fireflies dance
Silvermoon's sparkling,
So kiss me

Oh, kiss me beneath the milky twilight
Lead me out on the moonlit floor
Lift you open hand
Strike up the band, and make the fireflies dance
Silvermoon's sparkling,
So kiss me

So kiss me
So kiss me

General Comment:The video of this song is a pastiche of the 1962 François Truffaut film "Jules et Jim". A tortured relationship between 2 men who are friends and a woman they meet, it is mainly set in Paris (Paris, France for any american readers). The video is light and fluffy (not a criticism); the original film not so! Watch it if you ever get the chance

General Comment:Obvious what the song is about. It's beautiful, much like a first kiss after over two decades. When it's filled with anticipation, and awkwardness, and nerves, and it's gentle, soft, and slow, it feels little different than it did as a teenager having her/his first kiss. LOVE the song. And one never forgets a first kiss with someone special...

My Opinion:Hey, I'm no authority but here's my two cents in regard to this song:
1 - SntR are a christian band so I don't think that they are writing lesbian songs.
2 - The songwriter. Matt Slocum, is a guy.
3 - What if he wrote the song intending it to be a duet with the girl singing the first verse (shoes & dress) and the guy singing the second verse (flowered hat)? Worksw, don't you think?

In regard to SntR's version of "There She Goes", that song is considered to be about drugs (heroin) and was written and originally performed by The Las. Here's a crazy idea. Perhaps they liked the poppy sound of that song so much, they didn't want to mess with it by changing the lyrics of the song so sang it referring to "She" even though Leigh Nash (a girl) was singing.

Memory:First keep in mind the band's history...
Matt Slocum and Leigh Bingham Nash both attended New Braunfels home of the fighting Unicorns

    Yes I said Unicorns.....Alma Matre
"New Braunfels High I sing to the with love and loyalty
My heart is filled with love for you and ever shall it be
My comradship I'll never forget and aver shall it be
the blue and white for truth and right shall live for ever more"

For grins look at the classmate of Leigh wbo became a photographer gingerdiaz.com/ also
    plumeyer.com/Plumeyer_Main/…

I have often wondered if the flooding series begining 1998 had occurred some 20 years previous.
Leigh was in 7th grade when Crowded House released "Don't Dream its Over" which the band also covered

There is a fictional story of a cross-country team New Braunfels that is set Leigh's Senior Year the depcition of the hometown is far less flattering but according to many who were there accurate to the otherside and powerful nature of the town that gave brith to Six Pence None the Richer.
For the record yes there was confirmed one ex nazi scientist stashed in New Braunfels under 2 miles from the high school Leigh Nash and Matt Slocum attendend..

General Comment:Matt Slocum, the band's lead guitarist/songwriter, wrote this song. Thanks to the people on this thread fabricating this song's "hidden lesbian" meaning.

My Opinion:Ok you want to know New Braunfels late 80s early 1990s want to know the ideal want to see the beauty of clear water flowing over limestone with rivers full of fish and turtles listen to this song. I have used this song as a quick and effective way to describe to classmates I graduated with the world I left behind. Keep in mind the mascot at New Braunfels high is the Unicorn. Have fun looking up bios of Leigh and Matt and start looking at photos of the Comal, Gaudalupe , Gristmill and Gruene.

General Comment:I created an account for this song so I could finally settle what this song is all about. By the way, the captcha words I had to enter to verify that I was a human and not a program were, "Likes Drama."

It's pretty convincing if you just heard the song that it's about a lesbian couple. I'm straight yet friends with a lot of GBLT people, and I can easily picture one of my friends taking her beloved to visit the farm she grew up on and then going dancing later that night.

But that's not it. It's the flowered hat that's throwing everyone off. What guy would wear a flowered hat? Well, the truth is the song is a love song written for this man:

    Damn romantic, I say!

General Comment:The song really speaks for itself. It's about the start of a relationship where you're fascinated with the person and it's all lovey-dovey.
And boys can wear flowered hats too! I don't think she's singing about a girl though.
I do love the imagery in the lyrics too, it's beautiful.
