Oh I am growing tired
Of allowing you to steal
Everything I have
You're making me feel
Like I was born to service you
But I am growing by the hour

You left us far behind
So we all discard our souls
And blaze through your skies
So afraid to die

'Cause I was born to destroy you
I am growing by the hour
I'm getting strong in every way

You led me on
You led me on
You

Oh, I'm getting strong in every way

General Comment:I don't think that the girl is controlling him, I think the love is controlling him. It's so strong that it dominates him, that's why he wants to destroy it. Which is hard because if you love, how can you possibly make that undone?

General Comment:Guy, this song is not about him being an alcoholic or in a dominant relationship. This is about him having had some connection to a political group whom he now completely disagrees with. N W O (google it).

My Interpretation:I'm probably completely wrong, but I relate this song to "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest", about a mental home in which people are drugged and all. The lyrics pretty much make sense for everything the Chief Bromden goes through. His life is taken away by the employees of the mental home, but he's growing to break free, to destroy. He's "getting strong in every way", mentally and physically.

My Interpretation:This is what happens when people expect too much of someone.
At first, he's practically saying "I hate you for doing this to me, making me feel extra guilty whenever I screw up"
Then, towards the end, he's thinking "Screw you, this isn't fair, I can do what I want to, it's my life."

I think the title stresses this even more. "If you hate the fact that I won't take any more of your shit, then thanks, because you're actually just encouraging me."

When you see it like this, it's also pretty easy to relate this song to puberty, although this could just as well be about people being oppressed by the government, their employers, etc.

General Comment:I am almost positive he is talking about god.

In his song Thoughts Of A Dying Atheist he basically states
that he is an atheist and that the end is all he sees, as in
    once we die, that's all.

And in this song he says..

    You're making me feel
Like I was born to service you
But I am growing by the hour

    You left US far behind
So WE ALL discard our souls
    And -blaze through your skies-
    So unafraid to die

Because I was born to destroy you
I am growing by the hour
I'm getting strong in every way

*** the capitalized letters show that
he is talking about the world as a whole.

*** and the "YOUR SKIES" meaning as in
    "his heaven kingdom"

General Comment:i believe that this song has seperate meanings.
the first being for a parental figure. i was thinking of that when i started reading the lyrics. maybe someone that walked out of his life, or someone he looked up to, an idol, if you will.
    "you left US far behind
so we all discard our souls"
talking about his family, how they forgot all happiness.

the second meaning could be about what humanity is doing to the earth.
and he could also be talking about religion.

it can be interpreted in so many different ways.

My Interpretation:I believe this a song about his relationship with his mother. When kids are little they would do anything for their mother, becasue they believe their mother would do anything for them. When we become teenagers we become upset when we don't get what we want and often blow this out of proportion making such claims as our parents don't love us ("you led me on"). Also I believe this is from the teenage perspective of wanting to break free becasue it talks about "growing by the hour". This tone has darker themes too, such as "I was born to destroy you", which could possibly be an allusion to the species of spider that kills its mother shortly after hatching. The line "so unafraid to die" may be about the cockiness, arrogance, and ignorance of teens and the reckless things they do.

General Comment:Once again, I 100% DISAGREE with those trying to say that this is a song about a relationship. 90% of Muse songs are NOT about relationships.

I agree with those saying this song is about people and how people want Muse to live up to certain stereotypes. How they feel like people think Muse is their to simply service them with music that they like and not what comes from their soul.

In conclusion, I think this song is about people pressuring Muse into being unoriginal and cliche when Muse is trying to say that they can be so much the opposite of that.

General Comment:Songs can always be interpreted in a variety of ways. The key I think is that when you have enough variety of interpretation you can interface them together and find out even more from a song.

My personal opinion is that it could very likely be about a relationship. But, he uses we too many times. It could also be about corrupt government, or corrupt religious organizations.

If you knit these together, one way to look at it is that he is referring to the darker manipulative and vampiric part of humanity (for the star wars people - sith) . The dark aspect has always ruled over humanity throughout history, but in truth the people are getting stronger. The emergence of collective lucidity is increasing exponentially especially due to the internet. He may be speaking from as a sort of avatar for the emerging light. he was born to finally defeat them and bring the world into a new age.

The part about leaving everyone behind and getting us to blaze through your skies leaving our souls behind is very significant. A soul can be various things. In particular I think it refers to our curiosity about life, which is squashed by people telling us explicitly what to believe and what is going on.

My leap of a extrapolation on this, is that he is referring to the destruction of hierarchial (ex: I know more than you so listen damn it) wholistic thought, and the establishment of a spectrum structure, where every bit of diversity not only fits together but adds to the richness of every other part. This is a fusion of everyone has their own separate idea (chaos) and absolute ideas (order).

I might be going to far though, hah
