On top of this feeling there is a merging of hate or dislike.. Mixed feelings are involved here. They understand that they have to show this extreme feeling now or they will lose against the regret that they have inside, or more deeply, the sense of needing to beat that person at everything they do, so they can seem better all the time.
Nobody can stop this feeling "It's not going to change for anybody" the extreme feeling has gone beyond the point where resolution and peace can be found. Even the one talking finds it weird to those around them. And the feeling has changed them as a person, adding to the helplessness of the situation.
That's my interpretation anyway, it's a very good song with true lyrics that can be applied to many situations.

Anyways, I think this song is about realizing that someone is the one for you (to me it is new), even though they knew it all along (it's not gonna change for anybody). After you realize the person is the one for you, you want them right then and there (it's gotta be now or I'll lose forever) but the person who loved you all along thinks you were just leading them on the entire time (trust me, I never knew that you were the one) and doesn't want to be with you anymore.
No idea if that made any sense, my mind is all over the place.
