Leave me alone, it's nothing serious
I'll do it myself, it's got nothing to do with you
And there's nothing that you can do

You can see it and you can almost hear it too
You can almost taste it, it's nothing to do with you
And there's still nothing that you can do

So come in my cave, and I'll burn your hearts away
Come in my cave and I'll burn your hearts away

Please close your ears and try to look away
So you'll never hear a single word I say
And don't ever come my way

Leave me alone, it's nothing serious
I'll do it myself, it's got nothing to do with you
And there's still nothing that you can do

So come in my cave, and I'll burn your hearts away
Come in my cave, and arrest me for my mistakes

My Interpretation:I disagree with the below comment. Muse are not "confusing" as every individual is different in what they get out of the songs, they're ambiguous.

My interpretation of this song is that the people who try to understand or assist your situation are wasting their time. Not that they will be told what the situation is as it's so deep to the core that it would be revealing all the greatest secrets a person has within them.

It suggests that people surrounding you can hint and guess at the situation all they like, nothing can be done to help, and even if people get certain things from hints you show them, they will never do anything worthy of recognition.

I believe the chorus then transitions to the person they are involved directly in the situation with. It's a head on battle all the time and that if they were to even approach you again with all the heart break and depression, you would react with something bad and dangerous "burning your heart away" is ambiguous from a little thing as revenge on the person by breaking their heart as well or as extreme as killing them off, to rid the person of regret and sad memories which they'd rather not relive.

Even though I said everyone is different in views I have to admit that the fourth verse tells the story that even though the person knows that any interventions on the situation by outsiders are worthless. They don't tell them for their own good and thereby push them away from the depressive emotions the person feels by just being involved in it, their naivety in this essence is their protection from pessimism.

General Comment:Muse have very confusing lyrics and they usually have several different meanings.
There is a Canadian band called Switchfoot who have christian lyrics but make it discreet so it could be
    about someones girlfriend or etc.
Also a bands name can tell about the band or a member.

Breaking Benjamin - Lead singer is a bit vain (Unknown, But his name IS Benjamin ((Burnley))
Switchfoot - All the members know how to surf (True)
    Muse - ...

So, all in all, no idea what the lyrics of cave mean.

General Comment:In my opinion, this "CAVE" that he speaks ofis all the decisions that he has made and the problems that he caused. Almost like the phrase, "digging yourself into a hole" you know?
And the other person that he's singing to, he wants them to come with him and take the fall for him.
Hence "it's got nothing to do with you".
The situation has nothing to do with the others but he wants them to take the fall.
    But I could be wrong.

General Comment:I think it's simply about the narrator (or who ever's perspective it's in) knowing he's bad and pushing people away so they don't get hurt. He knows they want to help
"You can see it and you can almost hear it too. You can almost taste it, it's nothing to do with you"
but he doesn't want them to get hurt. The chorus is basically saying "If you try and help me you'll just get ruined in the process"...that's what I think anyway.
I think he would love to have help or to have someone around but cares too much about everyone else to let them in. He's trying to warn them

General Comment:in ancient times kings and high pristes had cave's in which the secrets and fortunes were hidden'

this is a calling for the next genration to keep on the flame with the power of the cave and its secrets.
and again a fear from being reaplaced...

General Comment:I love the ending. It reminds me of AI too, like Glorious... (Once again, I say Artificial Intelligence, not American Idol.) I guess the singer wants the person he/she's singing to to see his/her inner workings... what makes them tick.
Therefore dehumanizing them in the process. Haha.
I love how the chorus has this goth twinge to it.
It isn't the goth label. Labels are stupid.

General Comment:"The idea for Cave came from that rubbish American book, Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus. There's this bit about how men go into a cave when they get stressed and I think that's probably true, although, personally, I tend to let it out. I did have a bit of a tantrum in my hotel bathroom last night - but I managed to repair the toilet, so that's OK."

Sorry if thats already been posted.

General Comment:think about what the whole album surfaces around; them living in Devon and the media. when Muse first started Matt got involved with "dodgy people" and there was one in particular who Matt stole a car with and he had to sell the tour bus to get his money back. could possibly be about that, considering he said it is about a friend that is no longer his friend. "come in my cave" can be a reference to how he wanted to kill the person as well... in a car crusher...

anyway, i can see where people are coming from with eating disorders and mental disorders. i mean Matt was very thin when Muse started, but i doubt he had any eating issues.

General Comment:It's about how hard to stay just friends for two persons of different sex. I think so.
