Spaceman
I always wanted you to go
Into Spaceman (Intergalactic Christ)
Spaceman
I always wanted you to go
Into Spaceman (Intergalactic Christ)

Pungent smells
They consummate my home
Beyond the black horizon
Trying to take control
See my girl
She shivers in her bones
The sun and zenith rising
Trying to take us all

There's a fire between us
So where is your god
There's a fire between us
I can't get off the carousel
I can't get off the carousel
I can't get off the carousel
I can't get off this world

This sickening taste
Homophobic jokes
Images of fascist votes
Beam me up
Cause I can't breath
Spaceman
I always wanted you to go
Into Spaceman

It's time to terminate
The great wide world
Morbid fascinations
Television takes control
Decimation different races fall
Electronic information
Tampers with your soul

There's a fire between us
So where is your god
There's a fire between us
I can't get off the carousel
I can't get off this world

This sickening taste
Homophobic jokes
Images of fascist votes
Beam me up
Cause I can't breath

Spaceman
I always wanted you to go
Into Spaceman (Intergalactic Christ)
Spaceman
I always wanted you to go
Into Spaceman (Intergalactic Christ)
Spaceman

My Interpretation:For me, the song gives an impression of someone who's viewing the darker parts of the world and recognizing the hardships and complexities of life and human beings, and would rather live outside of the planet to kind of escape that.

Humans are always at war, they're greedy, religion and gods as a matter of control, people seem to have a very morbid side, they flock to bad news, technology grows everyday and people get so wrapped up and pulled into things, a little less human

It's a lot and not really clear thought, I can't really describe it or make many decent comparisons, but the whole 'beam me up because I can't breathe' makes me think that sometimes, this world can be suffocating and you just don't want to be part of it.

Saying 'I always wanted you to go into space(man)..." is like wishing a loved one out of this world, the kind of pain and devastation

The beginning of the song is like he's talking about an ominous darkness, the poisons of humans or controlled societies, either the heavy influence of technology and media, or human darkness and corruption overall

The carousel might be the world itself, always spinning round, a never ending cycle of good and bad, light and dark, with a history destined to continually repeat itself, life and death, etc. The last part of the song is I guess something like using man's construct for their own downfall and destruction

A bit much I know lol it's just an opinion of course, the way I hear it

My Interpretation:my take on this is that written by a female, a lesbian.

the carousel is a metaphor for to repetious day in day out anguish endured by society from the unaccepted sexuality of her and facists.

space being heaven, cant breathe due to asphixiation, "see my girl" who has already pass possibly from suicide from a similar unacceptance.

space being the nex chapter in life?

General Comment:I remember being gutted when they bought this track to find that the rest of the song was a dirge with only the first and last 30 seconds being cool.

General Comment:'Spaceman, I always wanted you to go into space, man.' Isnt that line just sheer genius? That he differentiates between a spaceman and wanting to boot someone off to space in a simple sentence...absolute class

General Comment:I thought "Carousel" was a reference to "Logan's Run", where every generation, once they reached, I think it was 30 Years, were placed on "Carousel", to terminate their lives.
