  General Comment:Such a simple song. Most were a few decades back when there was more romance and less sex in the songs (not all, but most). Cute lyrics in that most of us have been there....trying to get up the courage to speak to someone. Glad I am not a guy with the pressure to act first. Have acted first a couple of times and been shot down...a quick but thankfully temporary sting. Both guys I asked out "for coffee" (which I have never even tasted) were ENGAGED. They were polite with their rejections....both gave the bullpoop line, "But if I weren't engaged....." Anyway, a song that most if not all of us can relate, which makes it a good song.

  General Comment:..."but I gotta get over my fright,Well I"m just gonna walk up to her,I'm gonna talk to her tonight"...
  Hard to believe that someone could or would get so choked up that they can't even approach or speak to the person who they want or care about...especially as adults.

    Hard to believe? What? Not being sexist but it had to be a woman who posted this comment. Cus any guy knows that approaching a beautiful woman that you like ain't easy, regardless of age. You can't expect the girl to make the approach, as men we have to be men and initiate it ourselves. But a million things could go wrong and rejection is always a word away.
    
    No, I don't think these lyrics are strange at all. I think all guys face this kind of situation at some point. And though the fear may be paralyzing we eventually must step up to the plate and give it a shot. I dig this song. Definitely relatable.

  I really listened to this song for the first time while it played on the radio yesterday evening. I was moved by the very moral tone.
  
  Some may not think of it as moral, because it's about prospective casual sex -- or at least something that would start out as such. But the theme isn't, "I'm going to use this woman for my selfish pleasure." Rather, it's about a woman who's missing out on romance because her looks intimidate men. She can't be expected to make the first move (although, presumably, the narrator wouldn't mind if she did). If something good is to happen for the both of them, he has to take the initiative. And it's about a man who overcomes his fear to acknowledge this fact, and develop the resolve to act on it. To fulfill his mission as a man.

  General Comment:This is the perfect song for when you're in the supermarket and you see the girl you have a hopeless crush on...and she's with her boyfriend.
  
  And then you start to think, what about all the times I was out with some other beautiful girl? Was there some lonely guy looking at us and hearing this song?

  General Comment:I remember that in a Rolling Stone article around 1983, the writer lamented that with reference to this song, Jackson was now "wearing tacky green shoes and singing throwaway pop songs - talk about running on empty ...." A clever play on Jackson's own words, but I always find this song appealing, obviously it was quite a departure from his 70's material. Somebody's Baby is a song most guys could identify with.

  General Comment:I was taking a test the other day, and I couldn't get this out of my head. It's really pretty. It reminds me of the '50s for some reason, like the decade or whatever... and it's just cute.

  General Comment:This song is just perfect for that movie - it epitomizes the cruising with cars, teen dating scene, jealousy, etc., so well.
  
  I'd love to hear this song at my ten-year high school reunion, but I doubt I would. It would just create that atmosphere.
