    General Comment:I don't think this has to do with a personal, sexual relationship like a lot of people here have said. To me, it seems like she got a little too interested in her neighbors' lives from afar. Kind of like when you watch a TV show and you get too invested in the characters affairs. She gets so interested in watching their lives from across the way that she thinks about them all night.

    My Interpretation:To me this sort of sounds as though its coming from someone who is in a purely sexual relationship with someone who they actually really love, and if they "ever figure out who broke your heart" they would lose their mind comparing themselves to the one that he/she really loves knowing that they are not enough and yet still trying to convince themselves that they're the better choice "i wonder why it is that they left the bathroom so unclean, so unlike me". at least thats what i get out of it

    General Comment:I can relate to this song so well at the moment. Before I thought the "I hope i never figure out who broke your heart,and if i DO, if i DO" bit was just about being angry. But now for me I relate to it because of the next line..."I'd spend all night losing sleep, I'd spend the night, and I'd lose my mind."
    To me, it's about not wanting to find out who the person was who broke the person she is interested in now's heart, because if she does find out she'll be so upset and won't be able to sleep and will continue thinking about it and going over it in her head until she 'loses her mind.' It's about wanting to know, but then not wanting to know, because she likes the person and doesn't want to know that that person loved someone else before so much that their heart was broken. They don't want to know who the person is, and if they find out they will go crazy comparing themselves to that person.

    My Interpretation:I always assumed that it was the singer who broke her heart, which is why she would lose sleep/mind. The whole window concept to me seemed like she was just talking about observing their relationship and maybe why they should remain together or maybe that the singer really isn't at fault, which is why she's 'clean' unlike the bathroom.

    But i read so many meanings to this song.
    Any one know the REAL meaning of why it was writen.
    I read the one abt tegan walking around naked and what not,
    but for some reason it doesn't make sense when i listen to the song.
