to me this song is about the whole scenario of a 'my best friend's girl' (I feel her more than you)
every day this guy has to see his best friend with the girl of his dreams. it kills him to see them together but it also destroys him because of the guilt he feels for such feelings he has for her. He wants nothing more but the best for both of them because as much as he longs for her he's aware he wont ever be that guy for the girl. There still is a big part of him that he has to fight off every day of thinking if "if she could be mine.." and that's where (Dont leave her) comes in... He knows he wont be strong enough to hold back the feelings he has for her, if his best friend ever decides to leave her.But what he's really freaked out about is that she has those same guilt hidden feelings for him as well..she's the cat like theif.
When I listen to this song, it just fits the situation so perfectly.

its pretty much exactly how i feel about this girl. everytime i see her she litterally takes my breath away. and when ever we make eye contact ican never look away and when she does i feel like i wanna die

but i recently listened to it again and i realized that it could have a different meaning to it. im pretty much in the same situation as it and thats why i feel this way about the song now.
i believe that this song could be about a guy that has very deep feelings for a girl. and he constantly puts himself out there and try's time after time to make any progress at all with the girl of his dream but she denies him every time("So i shake off defeat and i start again"). this shows how even though he gets hurt by her he still trys to make any progress. maybe not as specific as saying "no" to him but maybe just little things in her actions such as not paying as much attention to him as other people. which makes him believe she doesnt wannt him back or doesnt want to try with him. when they keep referring to this other guy she is with and saying "Dont leave her." i believe this guy that loves this girl want her to stay with this new guy because either he doesnt want her to get hurt or he simply doesnt want to see her as an option even though he still loves her. if she is taken he understands her cant have her if shes with someone else, but if she is free he will keep trying even though he keeps getting hurt. the line said by tom "Leave me standing on this lonely grave. I dug it out in case she turns away." focuses on the point that he knew he would get hurt if he tryed with her or flirted because he knew she wouldnt do it back. he would prepare himself for what would happen.
so there it is. some of the first meaning i heard but some of another meaning. sucks i can completely relate though. amazing song and amazing band. BLINK 2009!

...kind of sounds like he's doing lines of something.
It appears to me, that he beat a drug addiction for a girl, or a girl was really helpful in him overcoming his addiction and then when she's gone he goes back to using.
And I think that the "her" used in:

Is more or less referring to the drug...
And then:

Is saying basically that he's getting back into it in case the girl does turn away...
Complicated, I know... but it makes more sense to me, than anyone else's persepectives... but well... that's is the beauty of music.
