I can't imagine all the people that you know
And the places that you go
When the lights are turned down low
And I don't understand all the things you've seen
But I'm slipping in between
You and your big dreams
It's always you
In my big dreams

And you tell me that it's over
Wake up lying in a patch of four leaf clover
And you're restless, and I'm naked
You've got to get out
You can't stand to see me shaking, no
Could you let me go?
I didn't think so

And you don't want to be here in the future
So you say the present's just a pleasant
Interruption to the past
And you don't want to look much closer
Because you're afraid to find out all this hope
You had sent into the sky by now had crashed
And it did
Because of me

And then you bring me home
Afraid to find out that you're alone
And I'm sleeping in your living room
But we don't have much room to live

I had these dreams in them I learned to play guitar
Maybe cross the country
Become a rock star
And there was hope in me that I could take you there
But damnit, you're so young
Well, I don't think I care
And if I hurt you
Then I'm sorry
Please don't think that this was easy

Then you'd bring me home
Because we both know what it's like to be alone
And I'm dreaming in your living room
But we don't have much room to live

And Konstantine is walking down the stairs
Doesn't she look good
Standing in her underwear?
And I was thinking
What I was thinking
We've been drinking and it doesn't get me anywhere

My Konstantine came walking down the stairs
And all that I could do is touch her long blonde hair
And I've been thinking
It hurts me thinking that these nights when we were drinking
No, they never got us anywhere, no

This is because I can spell confusion with a 'k'
And I can like it
It's to dying in another's arms and why I had to try it
It's to Jimmy Eat World and those nights in my car
When the first star you see may not be a star
I'm not your star
Isn't that what you said
What you thought this song meant

And if this is what it takes
Just to lie with my mistakes
And live with what I did to you
All the hell I put you through
I always catch the clock
It's 11:11
And now you want to talk
It's not hard to dream
You'll always be my Konstantine

My Konstantine, they'll never hurt you like I do
No, they'll never hurt you like I do
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no

This is to a girl who got into my head
With all the pretty things she did
Hey, you know
You keep me up in bed
This is to a girl who got into my head
With all these fucked up things I did
Hey, maybe, baby
You could keep me up in bed
My Konstantine
You spin around me like a dream
We played out on this movie screen
And I said
Did you know I missed you?
Did you know I missed you?
Did you know I missed you?
Did you know I missed you?
Did you know I missed you?
Did you know I missed you?
Did you know I missed you?
I miss you

And then you bring me home
And we'll go to sleep, but this time not alone, no, no
And you'll kiss me in your living room
I know
You'll miss me in your living room
Because these nights I think maybe that
I'll miss you in my living room
We don't have much room
I said does anybody need that room?
Because we all need a little more room
To live

My Konstantine

General Comment:My song for everything. Heartbreak, when I'm really in love, calming down, homesickness, melancholic.. It's perfection. Thank you Andrew.

    Love from Norway.

General Comment:This is a beautiful song. The way i see it he's singing about a relationship he messed up. He loved her and it took him too long to realize it. He loves her and keeps coming back to her, after several failed attempts at a relationship, because he realizes he can't live without her.

General Comment:I actually know Andrew..he never dated a girl named Krystal..seriously you can ask him sometime when hes out with Jack's Mannequin. The song is about Andrew McMahon's relationship with his ex-girlfriend Vanessa and their breakup; it was rumored to have been written to a girl named Krystal, due to the first letter of her name. However, Andrew has confirmed he has never dated a girl named Krystal. Vanessa was allegedly underage at the time the song was written and was alluded to as "Krystal."McMahon refuses to play the song and has said in a recent interview, "If I ever play it, I’ll have to play it forever, every night. If it weren’t such a big deal for me to play Konstantine, then I probably would play it. But the truth is, as soon as I bring that song out one time, I will never be able to walk through a venue, no matter what band I’m playing with or no matter where I’m at, and not have people chant and cheer for it.

General Comment:Powerful. Definately in my top 5 favourite songs. I really love the piano in this.

I think it really captures a sense of longing and guilt of wanting something for someone that you love but you're not able to to give it to them, and then losing them and feeling a longing to have them back but you're not able to. Anyways, that's just how I see it.

My Interpretation:after my first serious relationship ended, this song that i had thought was a really long and boring soco song, turned into one of the most motivational and moving songs i had ever heard. it seems like every line says something more than i can relate to. when i think of what this song means, i think of the name "Konstantine" as just any girl any guy has ever fallen in love with. i think it's spelt wrong because he simply wanted to point out that nothings perfect, and i believe he says he can "spell confusion with a K" because he is saying that the girl, along with his relationship is nothing near perfect and extremely confusing but yet he still wants the relationship and loves the girl. in the beginning, it seems like he is talking about how the girl has huge dreams that she wants to pursue, but the only thing stopping her is the guy she loves. he says he doesn't understand and cant even imagine what her dreams are and the reason is because they are so big. in these dreams, he isn't included. But his biggest of dreams, always includes her which shows he cares more about her than she cares about him. because of their differences, they break up and it seems like although he had ended the relationship, she was the one who forced him to do it. The whole time they are broken up, he can't do anything but think of her while she seems to be doing fine without him. She feels like he is a part of his past and has nothing to do with her present/ future. His first love was the girl but she is trying to tell him that just because she is his first love, doesn't mean that she is the right person for him. In the end, he admits he will always love her and never love another girl the way he does to her. All he wants is to be with her but she had been hurt so bad by him that she just can't handle being in a relationship. To me, the meaning of saying the main line of "you'll always be my konstantine" is that he is saying his heart will always and forever be with her no matter what girl he is in a relationship.
This song means more than any other song to me. Sometimes i'll listen to this song for hours without changing it. It relates so closely to what i went through with my feelings.

General Comment:I've probably commented on here before, but I just wanted to say, again, this is my favorite song ever. Has been for almost 10 years now (God time flies!!) and I'm sure it will always continue to be. It touches my heart in a place that no other song can come close. Not to mention, it now has SO MANY memories from High School.
First time I heard it in concert, I bawled my EYES out! I also have a photo of me and Andrew, and the ex bandmate, William Tell. I believe that was his stage name.
Regardless, Andrew said before he played it, that yes, it is about an ex, no, her name was not Konstantine. That's the name of the song, b/c as someone said, konstantine=constant and she was his constant.
This song has such a huge impact on people because its relatable. And beautiful. And powerful. All that is good in a song :-)
Also, Constantine was the 1st Christian, Roman emperor. I don't think that has anything to do with the song though, just fun fact.

My Interpretation:Well, Andrew McMahon has managed to get me through pretty much everything in my life, and this is one of my all time favourite songs.

When i first heard this song, i knew it was about breaking up or something to do with a broken relationship as many people have previously commented. I think it is a song about young love, possibly even first love, but the line:
"When the first star you see may not be a star
    I'm not your star"
i always interpreted this line to be along the lines of 'just because i am your first love/you are my first love, doesnt mean it is real/your only love"
thats what i always found this line to mean.

    Powerful, amazing song.
