So I look in your direction
But you pay me no attention, do you
I know you don't listen to me
'Cause you say you see straight through me, don't you

And on and on from the moment I wake
To the moment I sleep
I'll be there by your side
Just you try and stop me
I'll be waiting in line
Just to see if you can

Did she want me to change
Well I change for good
And I want you to know
But you always get your way
I wanted to say

Don't you shiver, shiver, shiver

I'll always be waiting for you
So you know how much I need you
But you never even see me, do you

And is this is my final chance of getting you

And on and on from the moment I wake
To the moment I sleep
I'll be there by your side
Just you try and stop me
I'll be waiting in line
Just to see if you care

Oh, oh, oh, oh

Did she want me to change
Well I change for good
And I want you to know
But you always get your way
I wanted to say

Don't you shiver
Don't you shiver

Sing it loud and clear
I'll always be waiting for you

Yeah I'll always be waiting for you
Yeah I'll always be waiting for you
Yeah I'll always be waiting for you
For you I will always be waiting

And it's you I see, but you don't see me
And it's you I hear, so loud and clear
I sing it loud and clear
And I'll always be waiting for you

So I look in your direction
But you pay me no attention
And you know how much I need you
But you never even see me

Memory:The story in the song is what I've gone through so many times in the past. The girl I liked spoke to me about the problems with her and her crush (and soon to become boyfriend) and it always made me so sad. I'm glad now that there are more songs that have this meaning than Taylor Swift.

General Comment:This song is so beautiful.

He just wants the girl to notice him...

Sometimes we are looking for someone to love us the same way we love them.

And I don't think he's going to give up.

General Comment:At first when you hear this song it sounds like hes kind of stalking a girl who doesn't love him back but it's cute because he says no matter what he'll be waiting and he'll be with her in spirit if not physically.

My Opinion:The line "For you I will always be waiting" sounds like he has given up, he has resigned himself to waiting.

    I know the feeling.

Song Meaning:I heard in an interview with Chris Martin that he was trying to get to a girl who was seeing someone else ("but you pay me no attention..."). He was always playing the best friend and persevered through it ("I'll be there by your side, just you try and stop me."), finally telling her he'd even change to be more like the other guy, but she should be careful because "I'd change for good." He asks if the words he says make her shiver, and he knows that while he'd wait forever, he only has one chance before she commits too fully to the wrong guy.

Moral of the story, Chris Martin is the perfect man hahaha. But seriously, don't reject love from places you don't expect it. You deserve the guy who will play the best friend while he waits for you and makes you shiver with his words. I chose my Chris, and two years later, we're about to get married ;)

General Comment:Lead singer Chris Martin wrote this. It was rumored to be about Australian singer Natalie Imbruglia, but Martin claims he just used her for inspiration because he had to envision a sexy woman while writing it.

General Comment:So, clearly this is a song about unrequited love. I think that this is about a woman who gets attention from a lot of guys and maybe has a lot of relationships. "I'll be waiting in line just to see if you care". He feels like if he waits long enough for her she'll get through the queue of other men she's interested in and then finally get to him. Even though he gives her all his love and attention, she barely even looks at him because she gets so much attention from other guys. A typical naive guy who think that if they are nice and friendly to a woman, then they'll find them attractive. Basically she's a man-eater and she's got him totally fixated on her. "(A)nd it's you I see", she's the only thing on his mind, the focus of all his thoughts "from the moment I wake to the moment I sleep". But this feeling isn't mutual and he tries to change to make her like him but it gets him nowhere. I think that this situation has probably been going on for while "and on and on". He thinks he has one last shot at getting her: "And is this my final chance of getting you". Maybe for some reason he knows he's not gonna see her again, (she's moving to live somewehere else or changing jobs/schools etc.?).

It's a really tragic song. I think it's probably about a teenager or young man who doesn't really understand love. He's just got an obsession with this woman who knows how to get men to like her. There are a lot of similarities with Radiohead's "Creep".

General Comment:The speaker professes his unrequited love to his lover, whom he urges to stop being so cold, notice him, and care.

General Comment:curiously, my view of the whole overall tone of this song evolved over time. when i first heard it, i immediately assumed it was a beautiful, longing song about unrequited love, with the singer (chris martin, of course) passionately declaring he loves a woman so much he is willing to wait for all eternity for her. however, the more i listened, the more i noticed his rather bitter, nearly angry tone as he sang "i'll always be waiting for you" throughout the song. now, i believe chris martin feels resentful, frustrated, and bitter towards the woman he is in love with because, no matter what, she pays him no attention and doesn't even notice or care that he apparently even "changed" for her. it appears as though chris martin is at the very end of the line, and doesn't know what else to do because the woman he loves is fully aware how much he needs her, but she refuses to even "see" (this could be perceived to be literally, physically seen by her, but it's more likely that she doesn't notice or understand the depth as to how much he cares for her). a very complicated, confused, bitter, yet still yearning, song.
