Lyrics for High Speed as interpreted by Ice

High Speed Lyrics
Can anybody fly this thing?
Before my head explodes
Or my head starts to ring

We've been living life inside a bubble
We've been living life inside a bubble

Confidence in you
Is confidence in me
Is confidence in high speed

Can anybody stop this thing?
Before my head explodes
Or my head starts to ring

We've been living life inside a bubble
We've been living life inside a bubble

Confidence in you
Is confidence in me
Is confidence in high speed

In high speed
High speed

High speed you on
High speed you on
High speed you on
High speed you on

My favourite track on the 'Parachutes' album. Simple lyrics, but the laid-back guitar and Chris Martin's vocals are really nice. Very easy to fall into this song :-)

This song is about how we can feel so insecure on relationships, if you trust the person you're seeing at the time, you can trust yourself on an intense relationship.

The importance of trust, very simply put in both the lyrics and explaination.

Chris often uses the mataphor of the bubble to describe the simulaneous beauty and fragileness of relationships. I think this song advocates taking chances in a relationship, moving at high speed, because the bubble might burst anyway.

I don't think the metaphor he uses is about relationships. He often uses "living in a bubble" to describe how naive and ignorant humans are because there's so much we don't see outside of our own lives... our "bubble." I don't know what this song has to do with relationships because I personally don't think it is but I also have no idea what it IS about.

i think maybe "high speed" and "can anybody stop this thing before my head explodes" refers to how fast life moves now. we all rush around and do our little meaningless chores without realizing that we are alive, or allowing ourselves to stop and see each other for real. just a possibility. this is my favorite song on parachutes.

this song is about a person being in love, but theyre not exactly sure how they feel about it. the "bubble" represents the delicate relationship that could "burst" at any time. even despite uneasy feelings the relationship continues because of trust. much like you trust people not tohurt you by driving at high speeds, the subject trusts that his love wont hurt him

This is easily one of my favorite Coldplay songs.

I tend not to interpret everything I hear about love. (some songs, it's unavoidable, but that's how it's supposed to be, no?)
I see a song about life that's gone out of control.

Perhaps drug use. (I don't interpret every song about drug use, I promise). It reminds me a little of the movie Requiem of a Dream. (It might be "For" instead of "of")... what a terrible sad movie.

This song is more about the emotion. I feel desperation, confusion, and fear (of the unknown).
Those emotions are very strong-- the music behind emotions like those would make it sound plainly sad, even apatheic.

Good song. Peace.

The starting of a song with the lyrics "can anybody fly this thing?" is pretty awesome.

Then the wa-wa effect around 3:15 that takes it into the final chorus is just beautiful.

I dont understand why nobody is able to interpret the song as follows .... seems very obvious ... may be thats the reason why nobody is interpreting it my way.

I think the song is refering to war pilots, going deep into enemy territory in a 2 seater aircraft, probably for reconnaissance. The bubble is clearly the cockpit with its bubble like appearance.

On their lonely and dangerous journey, they repose their trust on each other and the speed of the 'thing' which is the aircraft.

Initially, they wonder at the task diffcult task at hand; that is flying the 'thing' at their best because it is the only way to avoid the 'ringing in their head' (could be an warning alarm that the pilot gets when under attack) or being hit itself.

Then later in the song ... they realise that they are helpless in stopping the 'thing' which could refer to the ongoing war itself.

This is the interpretation i thought of the very first time i heard this beautiful song. Wanna be a big time fan of cold play ... wonderful band.

I love this song not only for the lyrics but for the effects also. The base line that guy provides at the end of the song combined with the edgy plane motor like sounds. This song is about how sometimes life moves to fast and u dnt even knw it because ur living in a shell not being open to anything. That's wat "we've been living life inside a bubble means. And where chris says "can any1 fly this thing" is where he's asking if anyone feels the same way he does about how fast life is goin and does anyone know how to deal with it. But the climax or message of the song is in the chorus "confidence in high speed" it means don't take the high speed of life as something bad take as ur doing so well in life that its just passing by every single day

Muziq23 has it right, accept for the last part, I feel this is an obversation on society, he's observing that we have "confidence in high speed"...why do we have confidence in it?...it's simple..we (society in general) live this way, hence we have confidence in it...because for me...there's something that doesn't feel rright about living this fast pace of life...I'm sure i'm not the only one who feels this...I just can't see Chris martin feeling that " high speed" is the way to live...

This song's end (especially in the sound effects) is very reminiscient of Radiohead's cd Okay Computer. which is a good thing.

I believe this song is about a relationship, and that when you trust each other ("confidence in you, confidence in me") time flies, at high speeds, and you've just wanted it to stop for a while, to see whichever lies beyond.
