Lyrics for Brothers & Sisters as interpreted by Ice

Brothers & Sisters Lyrics
Brothers and sisters unite
It's the time of your lives
It's the time of your lives
Break down, break down
Gotta spread love around
Gotta spread it around

Brothers and sisters feel fine
It's the time of your lives
It's the time of your lives
No sound, no sound
Like this feeling you've found
Like this feeling you've found

But just stay down
'Cos some sounds you'll feel
So stay down
And some sounds you'll feel

And it's me they're looking for
And it's me
I will never survive
But we'll be around some more

Brothers and sisters unite
It's the time of your lives
It's the time of your lives
Break down, break down
Gotta spread love around
Gotta spread it around

But just stay down
And some sounds you'll feel
So stay 'round
And some sounds you'll feel

And it's me they're looking for
And it's me
I will never survive
But we'll be around some more

it's gonna be alright (x 3)

This reminds me of graduation. And of adolecence. How we should all stop being so dumb and hating and have fun.

What an anthemic song! The guitar line is heavenly. It's one of my favorite Coldplay songs, I wish they'd produce more songs with this feel. There seems to be re-occuring theme of runnning away from something evil in a lot of their songs.

it's almost spiritual... it's a statement to just focus on our souls instead of getting lost in the insignificant tangible aspects of our lives...

I love this song, it symbolises the bond between those who are equal, and those who also deserve a good life.

Although I understand what people have said before me about this song, I have a completely different interpretation of this song. So far everyone's said that this song is a happy loving song, however, I think that there is a double meaning with lines such as "just stay down" it's me they're looking for" and "I will never survive.

The way I can most relate this song is through schindler's list where the prisoner Jews are released and "unite" together again with the joy of meeting but they are still under strict orders and believe that they will be hunted down again. I cant fully explain what I feel but I hope you get the double meaning I feel with this song.

Coldplay are amazing, my fav song is Green eyes but I dont like their new Album X&Y. Its a bit too camp.

bla bla

but what about the song??

Haha.. somehow it reminds me of Jesus talking to His disciples... ok don't kick me for being religious... but somehow it does.... just read it again (i hope this doesn't screw the song for you)

But seriously... it DOES have to do something with "spreading love around"...
And euhm.. i interpret the lyrics this way:

Brothers and sisters feel fine
It's the time of your lives
It's the time of your lives
No sound, no sound
Light this feeling you've found
Light this feeling you've found

So anymore meanings?

First single...yes. great song from his early angsty days. bigger, stronger, such a rush, animals...basically a bunch of complaints about the world that, luckily (and purposefully), didn't show up in parachutes.

The song seems to depict a very dramatic, even romanticly powerful war scene fit for the next WWII epic. Fear, uncertainty, and other emotions mixed up in the desire to survive in such scary times...whether or be a soldier or a civilian. It doesn't have to be about war though, but a variety of things. The search for jews in WWII germany is just an example.

I'm all for any Christian interpretations on this. They are Christians themselves, I think. It wouldn't surprise me. Because to Christians, every other Christian is our brother or sister in Christ. It just... fits.

i found this quote online about coldplay: " Coldplay also resembles U2 in that some of their songs hint at spirituality—though not as clearly as Bono and his band. In an old interview, Martin is said to read the Bible regularly, and all four members profess "admiration for Christian beliefs." Martin once told the New York Daily News that he's never "rebelled against his mother's Christian faith," but in another interview he said he "used to be a Christian." In a more recent interview with Entertainment Weekly.com, Martin said, "I'm not agnostic, because I definitely believe in God." But he went on to say he doesn't necessarily believe in a specific religion." soooooo they arent really christiansbut thir music can be interpreed in many different ways

I agree with Christiaan33 about the lyrics being:

Brothers and sisters feel fine
It's the time of your lives
It's the time of your lives
No sound, no sound
Light, this feeling you've found
Light, this feeling you've found

---

"Brothers and sisters unite" could relate to Christians being united in faith. "Gotta spread love around," definitely relates to Christianity as well.

"It's the time of your lives" could be interpreted in an unusual way as well--
The speaker, presumably Jesus, could be saying than now is your time alive, on earth, and thats why you have to spread love around, while you can.

"And it's me they're looking for
And it's me
I will never survive
But we'll be around some more"

Its seems like Jesus is speaking, since he was destined to die, and the speaker seems to be accepting to their doom. And the last line could refer to how the religion survives after his death, or how he's immortal so he'll never really die. And the we'll could either be a reference to the trinity, or christians in general. And then that leads into "Its going to be alright"--Not to worry because either God will always be their, or because you'll always have your brothers and sisters.

sister jack...good call on mentioning the C# version of this song.

it was the 2nd track on the trouble single in 2001. i definitely agree it sounds much better in that key, and at least in my version the recording is much higher quality.

i wish they would get back to playing some of these songs live and varying their sets a bit more.
