Come to my window
Crawl inside, wait by the light of the moon
Come to my window
I'll be home soon

I would dial the numbers
Just to listen to your breath
I would stand inside my hell
And hold the hand of death
You don't know how far I'd go
To ease this precious ache
You don't know how much I'd give

Or how much I can take
Just to reach you
Just to reach you
Oh to reach you

Come to my window
Crawl inside, wait by the light of the moon
Come to my window, I'll be home soon

Keeping my eyes open
I cannot afford to sleep
Giving away promises
I know that I can't keep
Nothing fills the blackness
That has seeped into my chest

I need you in my blood
I am forsaking all the rest
Just to reach you
Just to reach you
Oh to reach you, oh

Come to my window
Crawl inside, wait by the light of the moon
Come to my window, I'll be home soon

I don't care what they think
I don't care what they say
What do they know about this love,
Anyway

Come, come to my window
I'll be home, I'll be home, I'll be home
I am coming home

Come to my window, oh-ho
Crawl inside, wait by the light of the moon
Come to my window, I'll be home soon
I'll be home, I'll be home
I am coming home

Come to my window, oh-ho
Crawl inside, wait by the light of the moon
Come to my window
I'll be home soon
I'll be home, I'll be home, I'll be home

General Comment:I guess it could be a song about addiction but has Melissa Etheridge ever dealt with Drug addiction? She's a supporter of medicinal marijuana but that seems to have come up when she got cancer. Other than that I had been under the impression for the last two years that it was her "coming out" song where she expresses her struggles in lesbian romance.

Anyways, until maybe three years ago I honestly did not even know that Melissa Etheridge was a lesbian (super conservative parents, sheltered life, etc. etc.) but I had heard this song and to me it is and always has been about forbidden love. Apparently she claims that it's not but the verse "I don't care what they think. I don't care what they say. What do they know about this love anyway?" Always struck me as she was in love with someone that was frowned upon. This does not necessarily mean a lesbian relationship (though in this scenario with Melissa Etheridge I suppose that is the case) or a male-male relationship but any relationship that may be considered taboo (Depending on who's watching and where in the country mixed race, mixed economic background, I think there are still places where you can find families that are feuding with children in Romeo and Juliet type scenarios, etc).

General Comment:When i first listened to this song i felt a touching experience of not only joy from my heart but from my cock. This song made me open up my eyes to indirect messages towards sex and made me feel open to many ideas. It inspired me to right a song called "Long and Hard" where i used her metaphorical strageties such as her sex metaphors towards writing this song to success. but overall the sex messasge in this song is not only deep but hot, and i have hardcore sex quite frequently to this song, mostly every night, it has almost become my anthem now to sex and my life.

General Comment:To me, this song has nothing to do with love. It is totally about addiction and trying to break away. Read the words again and think of heroin addiction

General Comment:Songs are interesting in how they can convey a completely different meaning than the author intended. Although I know this isn't the case, this could easily be a song about a deep spiritual longing and an acknowledgement of the fear of committing to such.

General Comment:Maybe this song wasn't written about love like some of you say, but just listening to it and reading the lyrics gives the impression that it's a love song. For some strange reason:p Looks pretty much like one.
    Anyways, adorable song.

General Comment:theres really no hidden meaning to this song.

    its prety obvious.

she has fallen deeply in love with somebody that is really not accepted my some people.

thats how i take the whole some to my window thing.

crawl inside/ wait by the light of the moon
is kinda like she has to kinda kepp this a secret.

but then i dont care what they think/ i dont care what they say/ what do they abou this love anyway.
is talking about the fact that she is involved in a lesbain relationship
