I guess I should've known
By the way you parked your car sideways
That it wouldn't last
See you're the kinda person
That believes in makin' out once
Love 'em and leave 'em fast

I guess I must be dumb
'Cause you had a pocket full of horses
Trojan and some of them used
But it was Saturday night
I guess that makes it all right
And you say, "what have I got to lose?"
And honey, I say

Little red Corvette
Baby, you're much too fast, oh
Little red Corvette
You need a love that's gonna last

Guess I should've closed my eyes
When you drove me to the place
Where your horses run free
'Cause I felt a little ill
When I saw all the pictures
Of the jockeys that were there before me

Believe it or not
I started to worry
I wondered if I had enough class
But it was Saturday night
I guess that makes it all right
And you say, "baby, have you got enough gas?"
Oh, yeah

Little red Corvette
Baby you're much too fast, yes, you are
Little red Corvette
You need to find a love that's gonna last, ah, ah

Ooh, ooh

A body like yours oughta be in jail
'Cause it's on the verge of bein' obscene
Move over, baby
Gimme the keys
I'm gonna try to tame your little red love machine

Little red Corvette
Baby, you're much too fast
Little red Corvette
You need to find a love that's gonna last

Little red Corvette
Honey, you got to slow down (got to slow down)
Little red Corvette
'Cause if you don't, you're gonna run your
Little red Corvette right in the ground

Little red Corvette
Right down to the ground (honey, you got to slow down)
You, you, you got to slow down (little red Corvette)
You're movin' much too fast (too fast)
You need to find a love that's gonna last

Girl, you got an ass like I never seen, ooh
And the ride
I say, the ride is so smooth
You must be a limousine, ooh

Baby, you're much too fast
(Little red Corvette)
You need a love, you need a love that's, ah, that's gonna last
(Little red Corvette)
Babe, you got to slow down (you got to slow down)
Little red Corvette
'Cause if you don't, 'cause if you don't
You gonna run your body right into the ground (right into the ground)
Right into the ground (right into the ground)
Right into the ground (right into the ground)

Little red Corvette (oh)

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh

I think it's safe to assume ANY Prince song is pretty much about sex.

    My Interpretation

This has got to be the best male ballad ever made. I believe it to be about being in a relationship with a woman who has plenty of "experience" and a guy who is having trouble coming to grips with this fact. He is infatuated with her but is afraid her ability to love him is destroyed by her desire for personal pleasure from every guy she gets close with. The song is basically a statement to the woman that she needs to slow down and take it steady with someone before she loses her mind and "run her body right into the ground".

    Song Meaning

He sums up in the 1st line.... "guess i should have known by the way u parked your car sideways that it wouldn't last" She parks her car sideways. She dosen't give a ****. He knows their relationship was doomed from the start. He feels sick at the thought of her promiscuity. But she's a good lay. A ride like a limousine. He's going for it but he knows she's going to crash & burn.

    Awesome song.

Ok.. Its' about sex. but the line about parking. "I "guess I shoulda known by the way you parked your car sideways" is about the woman's attitude. Ever see the owner of a hot sports car, park accross two or three parking spaces, sideways. They way they feel they deserve more!. That's the kind of woman she was.

God damn, but this is one of my favorite songs of all time. Dirty and groovy. I think this could be one of the greatest songs of the 80's.

As far as the meaning of this song, I think if I have to explain it to you, you're probably too young to be listening to it.

Calling a girl's bedroom "the place where your horses run free" is a great line.

The best line is "You must be a limousine!" The song seems pretty straight forward- he's with a girl who has been around a bit, they're probably up at some makeout point on the edge of town where she takes all her men in her car. He feels uneasy about having sex with her, but what heck, its saturday night, so why not? Great song.

Funkteer The line "you need a love thats gonna last" is about actual love. He is repremanding her about having loveless sex all the time. Even the he knows he will succumb, because, hey its saturday!

I love this song!! it's awesome. I've loved it ever since I was young. Now that i'm older, I understand the true meaning behind the words!! haha. yeah, basically about a woman who sleeps around. And yeah he's telling her to slow down, "you need a love that's gonna last" But yeah he's like hey, what the hell! it's a saturday night so that makes it alright, so why not?!! hehe. It's a very sexy song! it's great. "Girl, you got an ass like I never seen And the ride... I say the ride is so smooth you must be a limousine" "Move over baby, gimme the keys I'm gonna try to tame your little red love machine" We all know what her "little red love machine" is, lol. Kind of a naughty song! only prince can get away with it!!! "A body like yours Oughta be in jail 'Cuz it's on the verge of bein' obscene" Love it!!! its an awesome song!!

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
