I'm still thinking about this song, because there is Aurora, CO. (And probably other places named Aurora too.) There's also an Oldsmobile Aurora. It's funny because I was listening to this song quite a while ago, trying to think about what Aurora meant. I was driving my car, and I looked up and right in front of me a car said "aurora" on the back and it just hit me. So, I'm not sure if they're talking about a town or possibly a car. Like maybe a car crash... you took my only friend.. you won't catch me behind the wheel of a chrysler ever again...

Aurora is also a girls name. I always went back and forth between thinking it was a person and a car, but the way that he uses the second person, saying things like "All your lonely nights" and "you have to be the cutest gravedigger i've ever seen" leads me to think it's about a person, but I can't be sure of that. My freinds and I often discuss this but can never really come up with a real answer.

they're singing about the town Aurora, IL, which i happen to live in. The song is about a bad car accident involving a Chrysler here which killed one of Dan's friends.

well the first time that i heard this song...i thought it was about a girl..Aurora...who had broke this guys heart and then started dating his best friend ("You have to be the cutest gravedigger I've ever seen.") ...the guy hated the girl for dating his best friend ("Fuck you Aurora,
You took my only friend.") ...he then became an alcoholic or just started drinking on a regular basis...hence ("And all your lonely nights in the city of lights are much like all these crowded bars I so often find my stupid self stumbling through.") As far as the "you'll never catch me behind the wheel of a Chrysler ever again....im not so sure...maybe just the idea that the Aurora is a car by Chrysler...and the guy doesnt want anything to remind him of her....i was told that this song relates to my ex-boyfriend...thats why i think it means what it does...i dont know...

i think this song has a many-layered meaning. sure, it's possible that aurora is a person, what with the gravedigger metaphor and whatnot. and there's the chrysler thing as well, as nsdjoe said. but i think there's another duplicate meaning - "aurore" in french means "dawn", so maybe he's also saying f*ck you to the dawn, since it "took his only friend" the night, which is the only place he can find solace and stumble through bars unknown. i don't know - i just thought it was a cool play on words.

i think this song is about a girl called aurora who is in a car accident....and so he's saying fuck you you killed my friend...."you must be teh cutest garvedigger" she killed him.....so yeah but yeah could mean other things like it was his fault for letting her drive when she was drunk and that everything is useless now because it wont get better

actually, nsdjoe was right. this song is about aurora, illinois - a suburb of chicago. i live right by there and this is about the car accident that happened there that killed one of his friends. meh, i guess you could've just read what nsdjoe said... =)

Well it could be his fault for a variety of reasons. The guy was shit-faced and took the guy's car and crashed and died and the guy is saying "it's my fault, I never should've let you take my car". He doesn't want to drive a Chrysler because it will remind him of his 'mistake' and he hates the town because that's where his friend died.

Besides this, this is a kick-ass song. Again, awesome lyrics. I love AT.

this is a great song. ive found myself many times thinking about what it really means. i dont think that it is really is about a friend who moved because why would it talk about the cutest gravedigger and why would letters have been tourn and why would he have been destroyed. i think its about a car crash where a good friend died. but the beauty of this song is that it can mean different things to different people

This song friggin' rocks. I definitely think they're talking about Arurora, IL, considering they are from around there. But I'm not sure whether or not they lost a friend to a car crash in Aurora, or lost a friend who moved there. Whichever, the song still kicks monkey butt.
