Hear one thousand screams. Hear one thousand voices. A solitary echo. Feel one thousand pains, but one is receiving a bloody invitation. Do you want to feel the warmth? To taste the life flow? Feel one thousand lost sinking into soft skin. Ingest rejuvenation. One to consume, one to renew. Demanded invitation. I offer grace, I offer blood. I offer everything till my heart is crystal clear. Do you want to feel the warmth? To taste the life? I want to taste the life to taste the life flow.

My Interpretation:Maybe I'm personalizing the song to my past, but I believe the song is about cutting/self-injury. The 1,000 "screams" and "voices" are internal. It's a "solitary echo" because they are thoughts inside your head. "Feel one thousand pains, but one is receiving a bloody invitation" to me this means you have so much pain internal, and the "one receiving a bloody invitation" is the physical pain you are causing yourself. To feel the warmth and taste the life flow is the way cutting can make you feel alive, so to speak. The pain is being lost sinking into soft skin. It makes you feel renewed as you release your emotional pain in the physical pain.

My Interpretation:this seems like its equating christianity and vampirism. its a really funny way of looking at the world, and im actually laughing at the imagery.

General Comment:This song and the rest of the album are definitely about meth. I know Davey makes a lot of references to vampires, but to meth users it has a vampire quality. Not only does it does it give you a feeling of being rejuvenated, but it also drains you. When he sings about offering blood, its about injecting. When you inject into the vein, blood spurts into the syringe.

General Comment:DjChrispy, you're full of shit. Davey wrote all Art of Drowning lyrics so none of them is about drugs.

This is from a rolling stone interview:

"Did you get drunk once and then realize it wasn't for you?"
"Actually, no I've never been drunk in my life. I've never even had like a beer. It never really appealed to me. That culture was just very unappealing and I never wanted to be part of it. I just saw how people acted and treated each other. And I was just like ''that is not for me.'' And I also thought of it as something very civilian. It seemed like the mandatory recreation for civilians. I thought, ''If alcohol makes you do this, I want no part. I want nothing in common with these people.'' That's when I was fifteen."

General Comment:I can see how some songs could be about drugs, but not all of them. And only half of AFI are straight edgers (Davey and Jade). But how could 6 to 8 be about drugs? It's obviously about touring, and this is about... I honestly have no idea, but I will after I give it a few more listens (I got Black Sails and AOD last week XD)

General Comment:The entire art of drowning CD is about methanphetamine.

    Straight edge my ass.

Oh, and this song is the most obvious. My heart is crystal clear is a dead giveaway.

General Comment:oh.my.god. if one more person says something about vampires, im going to scream. go back to your anime manga vampire porn and get a life. im pretty sure davey isn't a vampire because you know...they're not real and all.

anyways, back to thinking outside the box...just reading the lyrics to this song makes me think its about live shows. but i'd like to think davey is deeper than that. when i listen to the song and hear "i offer grace, i offer blood, i offer everything until my heart is crystal clear", it makes me think of a spiritual high. doing whatever it takes to be touched by that purest of all energies and to be renewed again.

or maybe im weird and the song is about vampires and weiners or something. god i hate this site....
