It is an excellent meditating song because it's surprisingly hypnotic.

How exactly do you meditate?

is it 'negative ions' or 'minus ions'?

Negative Ions. It has one or more electrons than protons. I think this "song" represents energy.

Positive Ions have "lost" some electrons, and protons (which are positively charged) are dominant in the Ion.

Negative Ions have more electrons than protons. Electrons are negatively charged, hence when they become dominant the Ion (which was an Atom before it lost or gained electrons) turns negative or positive depending on wether it gains or loses electrons.

I also notice that the sampling they've used sounds like a passing train. Very nice.

I think he meant the music is wasted on meditation, not vice versa. No opinion on it myself, although I'd rather meditate to this than, say, anal cünt. The song's pretty cool, though my copy of aenima is busted

Again, how is it wasted? Music is the best thing to meditate too. And I was talking about suitable music like this one of course, I mean I wouldn't pop in IOWA for some yoga. Well maybe if I was feeling a bit extreme.

Apparently you get this effect behind some waterfall or something. Nice note from Adam Jones there.

I like how the little electrical noises go from one side of my surround sound to the other and back. Then they stop and it goes in the opposite direction again. Sounds like electricity is really going through my brain or something!

I wish I was Adam Jones. And not in a way that you'd be my son then.

You know that weird modulationg sound near the end? Well, that sounds like it's cycling through the Order of Harmonic Overtones, I can't remember exactly how it goes but it's something like root, octave, 5th, etc... and theoretically it goes on infinately. You can create that type of sound by spinning a thick, long piece of ribbed flexible plastic piping in the air at varying speeds, or by doing harmonic glissandi on certain stringed instruments such as the guitar.

Negative Ions are known for making you feel better. They're found in nature. Positve Ions have a bad effect on people. Positive Ions are emmitted by your computers, tvs, and other electronic equiptment. They're known for making you feel worn down, and give you a negative disposition. Negative Ions are "feel good" Ions, and the band has described this track as the "feel good song of AEnima", further showing just how quirky their sense of humor can be. It also has an amazing feel to it. The change over from the left to right channel is really cool to listen to in head phones, giving the effect of the ions passing right through your mind, which can be seen as a starting point for letting ALL of their music do the same.

Jokes?the point of the "(-)ions" track is to let you know that their not all about drugs, hard rocking..."metal" if you will..even though i hate to think of tool as a metal band..simply because putting them in the same genre as say slipknot or something makes me shutter. and its called filler and it is in no way a joke.
