Lyrics for Demolition Lovers as interpreted by a scar in the sky

Demolition Lovers Lyrics
Hand in mine, into your icy blues
And then I'd say to you we could take to the highway
With this trunk of ammunition too
I'd end my days with you in a hail of bullets

I'm trying, I'm trying
To let you know just how much you mean to me
And after all the the things we put each other through and

I would drive on to the end with you
A liquor store or two keeps the gas tank full
And I feel like there's nothing left to do
But prove myself to you and we'll keep it running

But this time, I mean it
I'll let you know just how much you mean to me
As snow falls on desert sky
Until the end of everything
I'm trying, I'm trying
To let you know how much you mean
As days fade, and nights grow
And we go cold

Until the end, until this blood
Until this, I mean this, I mean this
Until the end of...

I'm trying, I'm trying
To let you know how much you mean
As days fade, and nights grow
And we go cold

But this time, we'll show them
We'll show them all how much we mean
As snow falls on desert sky
Until the end of every...

All we are, all we are
Is bullets I mean this

As lead rains, will pass on through our phantoms

Forever, forever
Like scarecrows that fuel this flame we're burning
Forever, and ever
Know how much I want to show you you're the only one
Like a bed of roses there's a dozen reasons in this gun

And as we're falling down, and in this pool of blood
And as we're touching hands, and as we're falling down
And in this pool of blood, and as we're falling down
I'll see your eyes, and in this pool of blood
I'll meet your eyes, I mean this forever

When I listen to this song, I imagine a girl and Gerard, driving in a car through a desert...
Then suddenly all these bullets fly down on them...
And then Gerard and the girl are lying in a pool of blood... and Gerard is screaming, watching her die, "And as we're falling down, and in this pool of blood And as we're touching hands, and as we're falling down And in this pool of blood, and as we're falling down I'll see your eyes, and in this pool of blood I'll meet your eyes, I mean this forever."
I think it means like, no matter what happens, they'll always be together.

I believe that this song is about a guy trying to impress a girl he loves greatly. The girls kinda likes him too but he really diffrent from her and her ideas about who she wants to be with. Also she doesn't like him nearly as much he does her. The guy thinks that she aloney refuses to be with her because they are nothing alike, but that she still loves him. This not the case though, but he still tries to get together with her even though she doesn't like him at all anymore too to his obesion(Misspelled). He wants to be with her even though it is impossible like snow in the desert, but is still determed to prove her any everyone else how says they won't work out.

well see, ive been with these guys since this album came out, (since before three cheers and black gayrade), and i love em. so ive listen to this song only about 4359784350934-5731458743257348574309 times. so im pretty sure im right when i say this but this is shakespear! this is a romantic tragedy pretty much. I mean seriously it IS Gerard Way. His lyrics are so simple that their very complex and have multiple meanings. "Demolition Lovers" has aspects of 'Bonnie and Clyde' and 'Romeo and Juliet.' let see here. 1. The guy is obviously in love with this girl soo much that hes willing to die for her or with her if it was necessary. 2. Some outside force is keeping them from being together or doesnt want them to be together causing them to have to run and hide or ,"take to the highway.' Hes saying "hey babe, i know things are messed up, but ill do what i have to do to be with you. if i have to die or run or kill," therefore the more complete lyric,"take to the highway with this trunk of ammunition too, id end my days with you in a hail of bullets."

this one lyric sets the tone for the whole song. Try to put yourself in this state of mind this couple is in. love or death? or both? But he somewhat has hope. but that hope might just be to flatter himself to be calm for his girl which i would imagine would be a mess.

The song also leads us to believe they have problems within their relationship which might be cause by the outside force trying to pull them apart or just from couples being couples. heres the proof "im trying to let you know how much you mean to me and after all the things we put each other through." he feels like he has to prove himself to her because he may not have another chance. they may both die soon.

In listening to Gerard's lyrics, ive come to the conclusion that you shouldnt be too metaphorical to try to understand what hes trying to say. sometimes he really is writing a song based on bonnie and clyde. Maybe he IS writting about vampires. Maybe he really IS just writing a song about a man defending his lover from a zombie horde but fails and has to shoot her in the face. Hes an interesting character. He often brings you down but leaves you just a pinch of hope to annoyingly make you question your misunderstanding of the song. The lyric, "as snow falls on desert sky" is kinda saying "its hard and chances are slim, but theres still hope" (i reside and las vegas, nv, a full blown desert landscape and i can tell you every year in december we get snowfal). slim chance but possible. I love how he makes you think twice about everything.

Dont take him too literal, but not too metaphorical either. ;)

i think gerard way's a brilliant lyricist and this song is a pure example of his lyrical prowess. his muse surely was influenced by today's artistic culture of vampire, horror, and romantic/violent cult classics, and his metaphors are twisted beautifully into his landscapes resulting in near perfection interperting today's society with his own relationship experiences.
bullets are the nasty words and things we say to each other to shoot each other down, in anger and hate.
shot down until the relationship is dead. how smart we think we are by our relationship dialogue, always having a sharp, snappy comeback, put down artistry, verbal abuse, just plain hate that eventually replaces the love and caring you show each other in the beginning. that's the trunk of ammunition. the beginning is the feeling of the relationship in the beginning. the end of the song is when the relationship dies. i love his reference to scarecrows, because anger is an emotion that stems from fear. and though the relationship dies, he will always love her.

are you idiots? its about bonnie and clyde. "i sould drive on to the end with you" is a direct Clyde Barrow quote that he said to bonnie

Apologies, ran out of letters. As I was saying, before he pulled the trigger on her, the point when he's screaming 'I mean this! Forever!', and then the song cuts out. I know I'm getting really in-depth here, it's just my nature to. I like whoever said that the drumming sounded like automatic weapon fire, I wouldn't have thought of that. This song also ties into the whole 'Man in purgatory, woman in hell' theme of Three Cheers because of the idea of suicides going to purgatory, while those whom are evil, either by actions or intrinsically (vampires are automatically evil by being what they are), go to hell. The lines about the bed of roses and the dozen reasons in the gun point to him killing them both for their own good, and the bit 'and in this pool of blood, and as we're touching hands', now I think about it, makes me think that they may have gotten hurt in their flight, and are dying anyway, or maybe it's from her bite. Anyway, it's my new favorite MCR song, the end of a touching macabre romantic tragedy.

What people seem to miss is the fact that this whole album was a prequal to Three Cheers, and that there's a big vampire theme here. My impression is that the album is about the two demolition lovers,a la Bonnie and Clyde, and that they basically find themselves in a city of vampires, who they anger, and go on the run. Somewhere in the craziness, though, she gets bitten, but they still try to get away before sunset, so they can have a little time before she turns. This songs strikes me as being about their final dash out of the city and across the desert or something, as the sun nears setting. The song's about how, although the enemy tried so hard to put them down, they'd managed to stay together, yet he's about to lose her... I think they decide that, before she turns and tries to kill him, he should kill her, and, because he loves her so and can't be without her, will finish himself off too. The lyrics are like his last loving words to her and sort of recapping their time, before he pulls the trigger on her

This song is awesom. First time I heard it I couldn't stop listening to it. I played it over and over all night long. Not that many songs hook me like that. The meaning of it is beautiful (Or, at least the meaning it has to me) Of course, to me it's about that true love that doesn't exist in so many ways. That love that would drive a person to the end, hand in hand with the one they love, willing to face even death if it would prove just how much they loved that person, to die with them and for them. To give them their life. (I've also heard about the hidden story to the songs off of 'I brought you my Bullets, you brought me your love' Read an interview a while back, so I don't remember much of it. This is just my personal interpretation of it.)

This song is about the Demolition Lovers pretty much, but is also a song for a girl who Gerard apologized to about writting all the songs about killing her,its in the back of 'I Brought You My Bullets,You Brought Me Your Love'.Its also a song to all those people who would die for their loves and would love them forever.

Whenever I listen to a My Chemical Romance song I really like, I think "if only there was an orchestra backing this up".

Yes, this is very much a song about star-crossed lovers. There's the entire story of running from society and losing all rank, inheritance, and dying alone, except with one other person. There's a desperation to it, being so small compared to the world (the desert sky, which is at once beautiful and a sign of coming death). My favourite songs tend to be like this...

To me, this song is a love song about a man who is in love with this one girl, but knows she doesn't feel the same. He wants to prove that he's good enough for her (I'll let you know just how much you mean to me) by killing himself and her. He drives her to some far away place (maybe a desert?) and keeps the gas tank full by robbing a few liquor stores (a liquor store or two keeps the gas tank full, supposedly liquor stores are the easiest to rob...) When they get to that place, he explains that "like a bed of roses there are a dozen reasons in this gun" and while they are dying, they "touch hands in this pool of blood" and he means forever, because death is permanent.
I know that's a bit in depth... but that's how I imagined this playing out when i first heard this song.

At first I absolutely despised 'I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love' like I hated 'Black Parade' at first. However once I listened to them both they grew on me. Funny how things like that work out.
This is by far one of my favorite songs by them. I would say the meaning but someone has already stated it.

I haven't read all the posts, so maybe i'm repeating something someone already said, but isn't this song and most of bullets really written about Gerard's gf that died? The "K" he mentions in the cd booklet is her, and i think she OD'd or something like that...im pretty sure thats the story
anyway, this song is AMAZING! everytime i listen to it, i come close to tears...his voice, is just raw emotion, you can feel the desperation and the pain. i dont know how he does it, its just...amazing! theres not enough words to describe this songs
mcr are truly extraordinary

I actually relate this song to how I feel about My Chemical Romance. I love them so much that I'd die for all five of them and I'll love them until the end of everything and I keep trying to write down how I totally feel so one day I can tell them just how much they mean to me.

This song is unlike any other song out there. It's so complete - so beautiful. It's like, when the song is finished, I just have to stop and think. How can someone make that? Write that, sing that, play that? And what makes it so unbelievable powerful is the fact that it's so damn real. Gerard wrote that stuff from the bottom of his heart, hence the note in the booklet.

"To K: I'm sorry I wrote all that stuff about killing you, I hope the last song makes up for it."

The deal where you love someone so much that - if they had to die, and you couldn't save them - you would die with them.

It's too great for my brain.
