Lyrics for Drowning Lessons as interpreted by a scar in the sky

Drowning Lessons Lyrics
Without a sound I took her down
and dressed in red and blue I squeezed
Imaginary wedding gown
That you can't wear in front of me
A kiss goodbye, your twisted shell
As rice grains and roses fall at your feet
Lets say goodbye, the hundreth time
And then tomorrow we'll do it again

I dragged her down I put her out
And back there I left her where no one could see
And lifeless cold into this well
I stared as this moment was held for me
A kiss goodbye, your twisted shell
As rice grains and roses fall at your feet
Lets say goodbye, the hundreth time
And then tomorrow we'll do it again

I never thought it'd be this way
Just me and you, we're here alone
And if you stay, all I'm asking for is
A thousand bodies piled up
I never thought would be enough
To show you just what I've been thinking

And I'll keep on making more
Just to prove that I adore
Every inch of sanity
All I'm asking for is, all I'm asking for is

These hands stained red

From the times that I've killed you and then
We can wash down this engagement ring
With poison and kerosene
We'll laugh as we die
And we'll celebrate the end of things
With cheap champagne

Without, without a sound
And I wish you away

beyondxwonderland I said the same thing. 1)Hes still alive, IDIOT! ahaha.

beyondxwonderland I agree, I think the name of the album has to do with all the songs in it, seeing theres 3 songs for this Kate(i think thats her name, somthing with a K lol) girl, Gerards girlfriend/ex-girlfriend, really fucked him up mentally, but he will still love her no matter what happens in life, even though he knows its 100% wrong & he shouldn't love her, but he just wants to love her.

But this song itself is about amrrige & how he fears it, & how he doesn't want it. Somewhere I think Gerard said that marrige is his fear for that he thinks he will die if he gets marride, somthing like that I read. But I quote, his view on marrige is "fuck that shit".

Marrige is a big thing & I'm aganist it also, ever since my dad died, I lost all my interest in marrige.

i think it has layers..there is a definate connection to the storyline in teh second album..and to demolition lovers..to me this and demolition lovers paved the way for the entire revenge album

they keep breaking up and comming back together...maybe the first verse is about a suicide attempt..the second a success....

i think its about a coule that are killing each other to be together..that they fight adn bit by bit eat each other alive inside, but they love each other so they bear on to the end, to death...

I love how My Chemical Romance's music always has some kind of connection with the albums.
One song is about this thing that goes with that song.
It's like a circle.
&& This particular song has a tendency to get stuck in my head a lott.

Who needs drowning lessons right? When all you do is sink and drown and that's it? Yet, some of us endure so much that we can drown over and over. It's about a relationship that was always on the rocks. They were always fighting, and, as said, he was killing her little by little. She wanted it to work, which is what the imaginary wedding gown, swallowed engagement ring, and rice grains/roses symbolize. He's saying it isn't going to work out, asking for "A thousand bodies piled up" if she chooses to stay, which still wouldn't be enough for him. The engagement ring, or potential future relationship, is poisoned and destroyed. He is ending the relationship and isn't too remorseful about it -- "And we'll celebrate the end of things... Without a sound I wish you away." Also this has been said to be a reference to "Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge." In "Demolition Lovers", they both get blown apart. Second album, he's resurrected to kill a thousand evil men. Then he'll be able to bring her back to life. So they can get married and all that shit. It's about keeping his woman's corpse in a well, waiting for the day he kills that 1000th guy. Biggest reference = "A thousand bodies piled up, I never thought would be enough to show you just what I've been thinking."

this is some of the best lyric writing that this band has ever done. I really, really like it.

obviously this song is only about being pissed at how things aren't going like you wanted. Imaginary wedding gowns and such.

i think hes in love with a girl who married someone else .if he could not have her ,noone else would so he killed her and then himself. some say that if you do bad things when your alive, that when you go to hell you repeat those same acts over and over for eternity( and tomorrow well do it again)

well i freeking love this song i write the lyrics to it everywhere! well what i think it is even tho i reallly agree with what everyone thinks i mean there are a million differnt ways to interpret this song but the way i see it is like well tying into the story of three cheers and stuff mostly i agree with that youll be a memory person said, hes like remebering her last hours or sumthing cuz it says "drenched in red and blue" well dont get the blue but u get the idea of red like taking her down and left her where no one could see "a kiss goodybye your twisted shell" also you can really tell its really related to the story

And if you stay, all I'm asking for is
A thousand bodies piled up
I never thought would be enough
To show you just what I've been thinking
And I'll keep on making more

and hes feeling sorry for "the times that ive killed you"
and last "without at sound i wish you away"

i think that was relating to three cheers
well thats what i think.... srry for typos

this song is cool. not my favorite my chem song, but cool.
"We can wash down this engagement ring
With poison and kerosene.
We'll laugh as we die."
Thats my favorite line. i write it a lot and sometimes sing it when i'm bored cuz it replays in my head. That is, i sing until my friends turn to me with a look on their faces like 'wtf are you singing and why?". Then i stop and start again a few minutes later. 0=D

It seems to be about a couple who were engaged to be married. "We can wash down this engagement ring with poison and kerosene" but they were always fighting. Every time they fought, the man in the relationship felt he was killing the girl "these hands stained red from the times i have killed you.." well that's what i think. wow, beautiful song.
