Lyrics for Drowning Lessons as interpreted by a scar in the sky

Drowning Lessons Lyrics
Without a sound I took her down
and dressed in red and blue I squeezed
Imaginary wedding gown
That you can't wear in front of me
A kiss goodbye, your twisted shell
As rice grains and roses fall at your feet
Lets say goodbye, the hundreth time
And then tomorrow we'll do it again

I dragged her down I put her out
And back there I left her where no one could see
And lifeless cold into this well
I stared as this moment was held for me
A kiss goodbye, your twisted shell
As rice grains and roses fall at your feet
Lets say goodbye, the hundreth time
And then tomorrow we'll do it again

I never thought it'd be this way
Just me and you, we're here alone
And if you stay, all I'm asking for is
A thousand bodies piled up
I never thought would be enough
To show you just what I've been thinking

And I'll keep on making more
Just to prove that I adore
Every inch of sanity
All I'm asking for is, all I'm asking for is

These hands stained red

From the times that I've killed you and then
We can wash down this engagement ring
With poison and kerosene
We'll laugh as we die
And we'll celebrate the end of things
With cheap champagne

Without, without a sound
And I wish you away

So, my friend gave me this CD to borrow. Seeing as the posers thought to much of the Black Parade, I thought the same for this album, at first. Man was I EVER wrong. I love OLD My Chemical Romance. And this is one of my favorites off of it.

Anyways, I feel this song is about a guy {Gerard} who breaks up with a girl because it was to stressful to be in this relationship. He still loves her very much and wishes they could still be together. But she is still very disapointed in him. He tells her I love you by "falling red roses at your feet." But he has to say goodbye anyways what seems like "the hundredth time."

Then "I never thought it'd be this way..." kicks in. It's saying time has gone by and they can finally be together again because "just me and you, we're here alone. When he sings "a thousand bodies piled up, I never thought would be enough, to show you what I've been thinking," he tells her how he's really been missing her. And he'll keep telling her by "making more, just to prove that I adore."

And "From the times I've killed you" starts. He's sorry he had done away with her. Then, he says "we can wash down this engagement ring." Saying, let's do without the difficulties and let's just do what we want. And they "celebrat with cheap champagne."

Finally, "without a sound, I wish you away. He's wising away the difficulties.

This is not a great interpretation because I'm tired and some of these sentences might seem a bit scarmbled. Anyways, I can really relate to this song. It reminds me of a relationship I had had and he decided to break up because we never saw each other. We still don't. I just hope my situation ends like this song ded.

"Without a sound I took her down

i think its about someone who's lover lied to them, and so he kills her. but, it seems to take on a totally different tone here:
"And I'll keep on making more
Just to prove that I adore
Every inch of sanity
All I'm asking for is, all I'm asking for is..."
i have no idea what that means.
"From the times that I've killed you and then
We can wash down this engagement ring
With poison and kerosene
We'll laugh as we die
And we'll celebrate the end of things
With cheap champagne"
now this part sounds like joint suicide.
its kinda confusing. one of my fave MCR songs, next to "bury me in black", "honey this mirror...", and "our lady of sorrows". its even my screen name!

i think its about a psycho fantasy about killin a girl (most likely an ex gf) and using her body over and over 4 some sick, twisted wedding fantasy which, if im correct, REALLY disturbing and oddly beautiful. this band does wat Boys Night Out does, which is, make murder and violence sound perfect and beautiful. and THATS REALLY hard 2 do! BOYS NIGHT OUT AND MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE 4 LIFE!!!!!

i think this has something to do with a wedding...the "imaginary wedding gown that you cant wear in front of me", "as rice grains and roses fall at your feet", "wash down this engagement ring" sorta like killing your lover before the wedding of after....something of that sort

This song is nothing less but A-MA-ZING.

It's hard to tell the exact story, but it does sound like a relationship that Gerard's in with this girl, but it just won't work, and one of the two is interested in getting more involved, while the other isn't.

They fight all the time, and he knows that he really loves her but there is no way things will be okay. But neither of them has the courage to leave the other one back alone, so they'll just do the same thing tomorrow.

This is what he can't take anymore.
So if she wants him to stay, all she needs to do is pile up 1000 dead bodies. (= it's impossible, it'll never work out).
But if she won't stay he'll kill her or both of them, cause eventually he loves her so he doesn't really want to be without her.
He wants to celebrate the end of things when it comes to an end, cause it's causing them both pain.

Hence the title Drowning Lessons, the relationship drags them both down.

Without a sound he wishes her away. No feelings back, no memory to suffer from.

it kinda hit me, this song is about having someone you've loved getting married with someone else, and the the main character in the song stops the wedding by kidnappin the bride to convince her to give him another chance.

it an amazing song. all there new stuff is amazing, but i love the old stuff-this is one of them, they put so much emotion into it, without caring about their appearances or how people percieved them, they rocked...they have changed, i still love them though

THIS IS WHAT THE SONG ACTUALLY MEANS!!!!

MCR's first album i brought you my bullets has a story behind it made up by the band and expressed in a couple of the songs.

the story is 2 young lovers get gunned down in the desert (demolition lovers) and the boy is sent to hell, there he sees the devil and makes a deal that if he gives the devil 1000 evil souls he will get back the love of his life.

this song is about that story as you can see when it says "A thousand bodies piled up, I never thought would be enough, To show you just what I've been thinking"

so thats the true story behind the song as to the other lyrics its talking about his memories and thoughts of marrying this girl ("Imaginary wedding gown, That you can't wear in front of me, A kiss goodbye, your twisted shell, As rice grains and roses fall at your feet, Lets say goodbye, the hundreth time, And then tomorrow we'll do it again")

some other songs talk about the story too, if you wanna know about them just email me.

I think that this is a great song. I think it means that they fought alot and she really wants to make it work so she plans out the wedding in her mind. I also think that he wants to work it all out before they get married. He just wants to die with her.

The title "drowning lessons" goes with the song in the relationship they are both learning this is the way they're going to killthemselfs by slowly dying from this relation ship but they keep coming back to each other "Lets say goodbye, the hundreth time And then tomorrow we'll do it again."

if yall were wondering about my first comment... about how vampires will never hurt you how that was connected to romeo and juliet.

the part where he says to take the spike to his heart and and if they get me and the sun goes down..... well. thats romeo and julietish b/c in romeo and juliet they were gonna "kill" themselves so they can live happily ever after, thats basically wut hes saying there
