I think that "shed your yellow take my hand" means "shed your friendship take my hand" The coulour yellow has always meant friendship and I think that he's saying that they should be more than friends.

this song is good, and so is the demo *bring more knives* there just so good u just wana listen to it about 10 times in a row. and at skool i just wana scream out. ' YOU SAID WE'RE NOT CELEBRITIES, WE SPARK AND FADE, THEY DIE BY THREES' thats my favourite part, along wif the chorus.

kk this song is based on the whole romeo and juliet tragedy..especially the first verse. the line star-crossed lovers can be found in the opening chorus to romeo and juliet

ok, yeah im not sure what the song really means but the one last part, wiht the celebrities and stuff, and hen the chours,plus the line "how wrong were we to think that immortality ment never dying". immortality can also have something to do wiht fame and such. so i think it may be about how they dont want to be portrayed like some spuper popular band that will change according to what the rest of the music world is doing. just a thought.

Pretty sure that "Oh, how wrong we were to think that immortality meant never dying" means that though they're immortal, (continuing from Vampires will Never Hurt You) they are dead, just their ghosts are still there. (Or something close to that.)

Okay, so we all know that Gerard's a tad...obsessed with vampires, yes?

Therefore, I think that the line 'how wrong we were to think that immortality meant never dying' is about that story of how when you get turned into a vampire, you *are* dead, but vampires are immortal. Make sense? I think it does. Thoughts?

Maybe they're saying "We're not celebrities; they sell out so quickly, we'll just leave and come back, leave and come back out of public eye"

And also, when they say:

That makes sense, soagnostic, but couldn't it also mean that he believes immortality is just a way of saying "My spirit is living on forever even though my body may not"? Well, I may sound like total retard saying that, but oh well.

This song is about friendship. "Stand up fucking tall, don't let them see your back/And take my fucking hand and never be afraid again." That's obviously about all the assholes that are out to get you, but if you have your friends and stuff, you'll be alright and get through whatever is vexing you. There is a live version of this song, and Gerard says something like: "You probably came with your best friend, or one of your best friends... I want you to turn to that motherfucker, grab him by the throat and say "You're my best fucking friend, and I would die for you!"

well, i think all the interpretations that are given here are right in a way. hm, i think this song is about gerard wanting to kill himself and his girlfriend... but why? there are some other persons that are somehow enemies:'don't let them see your back'. but what's the riddle of revenge? maybe these persons want to harm them in some way... so as a revenge he commits suicide so that these people can't reach their aims and he and the girl he loves are free in a way. immortality might mean that the two of them are together forever, but they can only be together in death. that would explain: 'oh how wrong were we to think immortality meant never dying.'
this song means so much to me so i would be glad if anyone helped me to understand it!

To me, this song is all friendship. It's the story of love between a guy and a girl, the love of FRIENDSHIP. It's about wanting to protect what you can't, wanting to become stronger, and holding your head up high no matter what. It's about overcoming your greatest fears, and making it through, hand in hand. With your best friend in the world.

This is by far, my favourite MCR song (MCR is my favourite band, too). It's the song I blast when I want to put things behind me, when I want to walk with my head held high. It's the song I put on repeat when I want confidence.
