Lyrics for Our Lady Of Sorrows as interpreted by a scar in the sky

Our Lady Of Sorrows Lyrics
We could be perfect one last night
And look like star-crossed lovers when we fight
And we can settle this affair
If you would shed your yellow take my hand
And then we'll solve the mystery of laceration gravity
This riddle of revenge please understand it has to be this way and
-Chorus-
Stand up fucking tall
Don't let them see your back
Take my fucking hand
and never be afraid again

We've only got once chance to put this at in end

and cross the patron saint of switchblade fights
You said we're not celebrities, we spark and fade, they die by threes
I'll make you understand and you can trade me for an apparition
-Chorus-
Trust, you said
Who put the words in your head
Oh how wrong we were to think
That immortality meant never dying
-Chorus-

So...

I have no idea what this song means, but all I know is that it's awesome. Especially the chorus. I'm always singing it. Everywhere. "STAND, up *fluffin tall, don't let them see your back. TAKE, my..." And yeah.

*ha ha. I'm too nice to swear.

The lyrics are wrong. Here are the correct lyrics:

We could be perfect one last night
And die like star-crossed lovers when we fight
And we can settle
This affair
If you would shed your yellow
Take my hand and then
We'll solve
The mystery of
Laceration gravity
This riddle of revenge
Please understand it has to be this way
And

Stand
Up fucking tall
Don't let them see your back
And take
My fucking hand and
Never be afraid again

We've only got one chance to put this at an end
And cross the patron saint of switchblade fights
You said,
"We're not celebrities
We spark and fade
They die by threes"
I'll make you
Understand
And you can trade me for an apparition

Stand
Up fucking tall
Don't let them see your back
And take
My fucking hand and
Never be afraid again

"Trust," you said
"Who put the words in your head"
Oh how wrong we were
To think that
Immortality meant never dying

Stand
Take my fucking hand
Take my fucking hand and never . . .

That's about right.

To "your hand in mine", I believe when he's saying "how wrong we were to think that immortality meant never dying" he's talking about the concept of immportality as meaning living on forever not physically but metaphorically. Immortality doesn't traditionaally mean living forever, it means living on either in memory or legend.

And I read somewhere that Gerard wrote this song about a nun, therefor the title makes more sense, about the impossibility of a relationship with someone who was so untouchable. Anyody kow anything about this?

He doesn't say 'laceration gravity'....he says 'laceration clarity' and he is reffering to the supposed feeling of clarity that people get after self-harming

i agree this song is about friendship. it reminds me of like a gang fight. i doubt he actually wrote about a gang fight but it makes sense. we can be perfect one last night and die like star crossed lovers when we fight- its like we can off these mo fos like we planned or die trying. romeo and juliet ended up killin themselves and of course ended up lyin next to each other. so these cats died next to each other . i agree the yellow part is about overcomin your fear. laceration is a torn or ragged wound. so that reminds me of someone gettin shanked. this riddle of revenge.. it has to be this way- means you gotta stand your ground even if you ended up gettin killed.chorus is self explanitory. patron saint of switch blade fights... they say we're not celebrities we spark and fade they die by threes- makes me picture a knife fight again. if someone was taking out three guys at a time i think people would talk about that the next day thus makin them a celebrity. the immortality part i think is about being talked about after you die. like a legend.this songs about a bad ass knife fight. probably not. but it makes sense

He definetley says-
"Just becuase my hands around your throat".
Terribbly poetic, eh?
Just what is laceration gravity and why should we solve the mystery of it?

hmmm
I think this is about one perosn telling the other they need to go and get revenge or they'll have to stay with all the poeple who don't like them no matter how scary or whatever it is.
But the immortality line confusses me. I always thought it ment sometihng along the lines of being alive for ever dosen't mean your soul will live forever. Dise that make sense to anyone else? lol

"Oh how wrong we were to think that immortality meant never dieing."
Gerard said in an interview that that's his favourite line in any song he's written.

It's an amazing song...by an amazing band. =]

This song was named after a story after The Brothers Grimm: Our Lady of Sorrows.
It's a really short story about a Godly maiden who had vowed to God she would never marry. But her father didn't care about her vow, so when the King wanted to marry her, she prayed to God to let her grow a beard. This ruined her beauty (which is why the king wanted to marry her in the first place) so he has her crucified; she became a saint.
Then a poor wandering fiddler went to the church with her statue in it, and was the first to believe in her story, so she dropped one of the golden slippers of her statue as a gift to him. When the church realized it was gone, it searched for it and found the fiddler, who was condemned to death by hanging, for committing thievery. On his way to the gallows, he asked if he could go in and say goodbye to the saint. They granted his wish, and when he went in, the saint dropped her other slipper and he was freed since his story had been proven to be true.

"So they took the fiddler's leg-irons and handcuffs, and he went on his way merrily. And they called the holy virgin Our Lady of Sorrows"

Whoever said that My Chemical Romance is better than The Used, has some serious analyzing to do... Of course, MCR's old stuff it awesomely raw and hardcore- but their newer stuff is way too catchy for my taste... Buy Maybe Memories (by the used) and listen to it, then tell me which is the more talented writer/singer of the two.

'if you would shed your yellow' ... I think this refers to getting rid of your cowardice. Yellow is a colour associated with fear or something. Seems like he's telling whoever he's singing to to grow some balls or something.
It's screaming 'a song about trust/friendship/love' to me. It's my favourite song.

Bunny, you're right he does scream "just because my hands are at (or around) your throat" ... and usually follows it up with "it doesn't mean I don't love you" (or something to that affect)

Also I think immortality is something beyond physically not dying - and that seems to be what he's saying there. Immortality can mean leaving behind you (after you die) a legacy or a legend - that way you'll "live" forever. The spark & fade bit almost seems to refer to that whole punk ethos of living life fast and burning out.

I have no idea if this is right but maybe "if you would shed your yellow" means if you would shed your sickness cos in english we are reading a book and yellow is refered to as an ugly colour symbolic of sickness. It sorta makes sense.
One last thing .... MCR rocks!!!

LOL i didnt read all of the comments... so someon might have mentioned this but "You said we're not celebrities, we spark and fade, they die by threes" is saying how regular people get popular and then fade faster than celebs. and the "they die by threes" thing is just a weird thing with famous people, they seem to always die in threes, its really weird.
