Wam! Bam! Mon chat, splatch

"You are the king of the divan!"
Qu'elle me dit en passant (hou-hou-oou-oou!)
I am the king of the divan

Ça plane pour moi
Ça plane pour moi
Ça plane pour moi, moi, moi, moi, moi, ça plane pour moi
(Hou-hou-oou-oou!) ça plane pour moi

Allez hop! T'occupe, t'inquiète, touche pas ma planète
It's not today que le ciel me tombera sur la tête
Et que l'alcool me manquera
(Hou-hou-oou-oou!)
Ça plane pour moi

Allez hop ma nana s'est tirée, s'est barrée
Enfin c'est marre, a tout cassé, l'évier, le bar me laissant seul
Comme un grand connard
(Hou-hou-oou-oou!)
Le pied dans l'plat

Ça plane pour moi
Ça plane pour moi
Ça plane pour moi, moi, moi, moi, moi, ça plane pour moi
(Hou-hou-oou-oou!) ça plane pour moi

Ça plane pour moi
Ça plane pour moi
Ça plane pour moi, moi, moi, moi, moi, ça plane pour moi

"The main hook in particular, is ambiguous: "Ça plane pour moi" means "It is gliding for me", which could imply that having his head in the clouds, or possibly being high on drugs, works for him. Other suggestions are "It's all working out for me", "This works for me", "This plan's for me", "Everything's cool/groovy for me" or more loosely, "Things are going great" or even "I'm on cloud nine". The basic theme is a chaotic, drunken sexual encounter with a girl, told in retrospect."

The link also shows a different translation of the lyrics, but states that it's difficult to be precise. Excellent song.

Hou! Hou! Hou! Hou! I love this song!

I heard it on the British Wanadoo advert (either Wanadoo or some other company flogging broadband). It's the one with the guy parachuting through the air on a board.

Anyway, the songs probably about a party, or after the party or something. The babelfish translation isn't exactly clear (That planes for me? Huh?!)

I read that the song is a new-wave parody & the title translates roughly to "The Life For Me"

If you like this song you'll also like the Damned's "Jet Boy Jet Girl" which is sang to the exact same tune.

Here's a literal translation, but it loses something in the translations. The translation fails to convey the puns.

Wham bang my cat Splash sits on my bed he bit his Tongue while drinking all my whysky As for me, didn't sleep, tired, battered I finally slept in the gutter Where I had a vision Ouh ouh ouh ouh in four colours

(Interjection) One morning a girl came to my house Cellophane doll, chinese hair Band-aid, hang over Has drunk my beer in a big rubber glass Ouh ouh ouh ouh like an indian in his igloo

I'm feeling good I'm feeling good I'm feeling good, good, good, good I'm feeling good Ouh ouh ouh ouh I'm feeling good

(Interjection) Baby what a thrill, what a vibration To do it on the rug, (they all mean tired) You are the queen of necking, he tells me matter of factly Ouh ouh ouh I am the queen of necking

I'm feeling good I'm feeling good I'm feeling good, good, good, good I'm feeling good Ouh ouh ouh ouh I'm feeling good

(Interjection) Don't worry, don't touch my planet It's not today that the sky is gonna fall on me And that I'm gonna run out of glue Ouh ouh ouh ouh I'm feeling good

(Interjection) My girl left me She had fun, broke everything: the sink, the bar Left me there like a big idiot Ouh ouh ouh ouh with my foot in my mouth

I'm feeling good I'm feeling good I'm feeling good, good, good, good I'm feeling good

I'm feeling good I'm feeling good I'm feeling good, good, good, good I'm feeling good Ouh ouh ouh ouh I'm feeling good (Repeat 2 times)

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
