how this tune didnt beat blur to number one god only knows,i feel betrayed by the people of britain for it,classy tune,basically means ''you gotta roll with it''!!!!! everyone understands when they listen,its rock n roll

This song was defo the Oasis side of the main part of the Britpop battle, how it never beat Blur is beyond me. Althoug I like Blur, Oasis do it for me!

I understand the overriding theme of being yourself, but I don't get the metaphors like "kiss the girl she's not behind the door" and what is the feeling that he's lost inside?

this is seriously my all-time favorite oasis song!

I like the two opposing themes... one is like "fuck the naysayers, be yourself!" but at the same time he's like "I'm being myself and yet i'm still getting screwed."

and the part about "I know the life down which your life will drive" is like he's seeing the direction people are going in and he's trying to tell them to snap out before it's too late, yet he knows it's a futile attempt. "I think I've got a feeling I've lost inside
(so take me away)"


....anyway yeah, yet another one of my many theme songs to go on that mix CD I have yet to compile.

Such a great song, probably the first song i had ever heard by them, saw them play in Melbourne last month and was disappointed they didn't play this awesome song! Although they were still great

wouldnt ''i think ABOUT a feeling ive lost...'' make more sence? like, he used tobe happy or in love or whatever, but now he has lost that feeling and hes looking back on the good times and wishing he could relive them? thats what i always assumed it was.

It's most certainly "i think i've got a feeling i've lost inside". But if you want it to be the other way, go ahead. I doubt Noel was picky about the lyrics for this song, why should you be?

Personally I don't read too much into that line, I just let it go into my unconscious and not think about it. There's a part at the end where that line is repeated along with a three chord melody and heavy distortion. It is beautiful.

its basically saying TO ROLL WITH IT!! BE YOURSELF!
"kiss the girl she is not behide the door"
to me that means that hes telling him to kiss the gal and not be afraid to do it. do not be afraid to face rejection.
but then there is another voce saying "im being myself but im still scared and i just wanna go away and hide"
great song....

uhm, it's liam singing. i like the repeating of the line "i think i've got a feeling i've lost inside" at the end of the song. no idea what exactly it's supposed to mean, but it's my mantra in times when i'm regaining self-confidence and stability after a dip. if you like songs in this vein, listen to the verve's "a new decade".

The line in this song that most get to me, maybe for its ambiguity, is:
"But you know I think I recognise your face
But I've never seen you before"
and my own personal interpretation is that it's refering to the feeling that you get when somebody you thought you knew so well has dramatically change in ways that you don't think you know him/her anymore... or even more metaphorically, that maybe, it's not the person that changed but you instead.
But I emphasize that this is a free interpretation.
I guess it's not a very deep thought, but I think that the deepness is in the way its put.

well i think this song is about where you used to be in a situation where you just used to get dragged along with life and now the sames happening to someone close to you and its kinda like saying to them "instead of being dragged along by it, roll with it" and i think the "kiss the girl shes not behind the door bit" means go on do what you want theres nothing stopping you.
and the bit with
"i think i got a feeling ive lost inside"
is like "if this keeps happening with you its gonna spread to others and i just got over the same type of thing" either that or like "youve changed by going through exactly what i went through.but i just got over this and everything that made me me is coming back to me"

just my thought =']

In some bits the lyrics are upbeat "Fuck what anyone else thinks" kinda stuff, then it's got other lines saying exactly the opposite. I'm looking into it too much but I've always interpreted it as saying that it's impossible not to care what anyone else thinks of you no matter how much you try to convince yourself you don't.

I'm 90% sure that isn't what it's actually meant to mean, mind. It probably isn't meant to mean anything.
