    General Comment:He talks about this song in his autobiography. It's a beautiful song, it was written for Gloria Scott, who used to be a struggling heroin addict but was at this point a drug councilor who heavily influenced AK.

    Song Meaning:So far I have read some of the comments (Just the first page) and almost all of you are wrong. Gloria was Anthony's therapist when he was going through drug rehabilitation. He liked her so he bought her a house on Venice Beach, but she died just after that.

    General Comment:Jesus I hate it when people talk out of their ass as if they're speaking facts. No, this song is not about 'some old lady that died, possibly a relative' and it's not about his Italian girlfriend he broke up with. Before you spout shit that you made up, you should at least try to find out what the song really means.

    Gloria Scott was Anthony Kiedis's rehab councelor who was an ex-heroine addict. She turned her life around and began to work at Cri-Help, which is one of the rehabs that Kiedis attended. They apparently became friends and she was the sole inspiration that inspired Anthony to really be sober, a track record he's held since December 2000. When Anthony left Cri-Help, he bought a house for Scott on Venice Beach, Los Angeles. Before Scott could move in though, she died of cancer.

    General Comment:I read this in anthonys book scar tissue so I know what I'm saying is the truth its about a loving great friend gloria who got anthony through many hard times who passed away and the whole venice queen thing is that anthony explains in his book how much gloria loves the beach

    General Comment:anthony talks about the meaning of the song in his biography. they had an old friend from venice beach that loved the sea. she was a huge inspiration to anthony and the band and she was diagnosed with cancer. they had a benefit for her where they had neil young perform and everything. her cancer got worse and anthony visited her in the hospital because they all wanted to tell her that they loved her and that they learned alot from her. she didnt want to die in the hospital so she faded away in her venice beach home.
