Don't remember where I was
I realized life was a game
The more seriously I took things
The harder the rules became
I had no idea what it'd cost
My life passed before my eyes
I found out how little I accomplished
All my plans denied

So as you read this know my friends
I'd love to stay with you all
Please smile when you think of me
My body's gone that's all

A tout le monde
A tout mes amis
Je vous aime
Je dois partir
There are the last words
I'll ever speak
And they'll set me free

If my heart was still alive
I know it would surely break
And my memories left with you
There's nothing more to say

Moving on is a simple thing
What it leaves behind is hard
You know the sleeping feel no more pain
And the living are scarred

My Opinion:It can be a suicide note or just a note that says he must leave the world, the death is waiting for him, and if he dies, he would be in a better place.
But he love his friends, fans etc... and ask them not to forget him

    that's what I think
    (sorry for my bad english)

General Comment:You should read dave's auto biograpy... it explains the whole being dropped of MTV thing and how it was 1st perceived as a song about suicide... Its not, dave has said as much in the book. This is one of the most sincere metal songs ever written, this guy is singing with his heart on his sleeve (to use a well clichèd line).

General Comment:The song was written when Dave Mustaine returned from the dead after taking an overdose before writing the album Youthanasia, was killed a few minutes and resuscitated in the emergency room, the song is about his experience and his reasoning after his affair with death.

    General Comment:No thats not true.
He wrote this song about a dream he had where his dead mother came back from "heaven" and told him goodbye.

General Comment:This is not a suicide note, it is just a song about death and dying. Right before Megadeth was supposed to play this song at a live show, Dave Mustaine thought that they were about to play "Skin O` My Teeth", so he said "This song is about how many times I`ve tried to kill myself". They then played "A Tout Le Monde", and he just went with it.

General Comment:On Feb. '93 Megadeth was booked to play the Budokan Arena in Tokyo, Japan. A few days before leaving for Japan, they played a show in Eugene, Oregon. During that concert Mustaine was a disaster, at the time he was still struggling with addiction and alcoholism. And to make matters worse, the barricades at the front of the stage suddenly broke and the fans rushed the stage and started a riot. Mustaine and the rest of the band left the venue but shortly after, Mustaine collapsed from the alcohol and drugs in his body.He was rushed to a hospital, but upon arriving at the emergency room Mustaine died. Dave WAS resuscitated at the hospital. After that, he was sent to a rehab center to get over his addiction. That's how he got the inspiration to write this amazing song. Dave wanted people to know loved them in case he doesnt have a chance to say it then he dies:

"What it is, it's, you, it's when people have a loved one that dies and they end on a bad note, you know, they wish that they could say something to them. So this is an opportunity for the deceased to say something before they go. And it was my impression of what I would like to say to people, if I had say, 3 seconds to do so in life before I died I'd say to the entire world, to all my friends, I love you all, and now I must go. These are the last words I'll ever speak, and they'll set me free. I don't have to say I'm sorry, I don't have to say I'm going to miss you, or I'll wait for ya. You know, I'll just say I loved you all, good, bad, indifferent, I loved you all."

General Comment:This song is often misinterpreted
to be about suicide, as the lyrics
can be heard as a suicide note.
    On September 13, 2006, Kimveer
Gill went on a shooting rampage
    at Dawson College in Montreal,
    eventually shooting himself. He
was a fan of Megadeth and
mentioned this song on his blog,
    which prompted Dave Mustaine,
who wrote the song, to make
    this statement the next day:
    "Like everyone else, I am
    horrified and disgusted by the
    tragic events of yesterday. We
will pray for everyone who has
been hurt, and all the families
that are suffering. 'A Tout Le
Monde' is based on a dream I
    had, where my mother came
back from heaven to say 'I love
you.' It's about me talking to her
    again."
    Mustaine: "We don't write music
that has any kind of suggestion
about taking one's life. It is more
like, 'Hey, we have a problem,
let's be part of the solution'."
    MTV banned the video because
    they thought it promoted
suicide. They did show it after
    some special comments were
    added, explaining how many kids
commit suicide every year in the
    US. This message appeared at
the end of the video: "Suicide is
not an answer. Get help." The
woman and child in the video are
    Mustaine's wife Pam and son,
    Justis. (thanks, Dae -
    Paraparaumu, New Zealand, for
    all above)
Part of the chorus is in French.
The translation: "To all the world,
To all my friends, I love you, I
    have to leave."
