I've had enough of danger
And people on the streets
I'm looking out for angels
Just trying to find some peace
Now I think it's time
That you let me know
So if you love me
Say you love me
But if you don't just let me go

'Cause teacher
There are things that I don't want to learn
And the last one I had
Made me cry
So I don't want to learn to
Hold you, touch you
Think that you're mine
Because it ain't no joy
For an uptown boy
Whose teacher has told him goodbye, goodbye, goodbye

When you were just a stranger
And I was at your feet
I didn't feel the danger
Now I feel the heat
That look in your eyes
Telling me no
So you think that you love me
Know that you need me
I wrote the song, I know it's wrong
Just let me go

And teacher
There are things
That I don't want to learn
Oh the last one I had
Made me cry
So I don't want to learn to
Hold you, touch you
Think that you're mine
Because it ain't no joy
For an uptown boy
Whose teacher has told him goodbye, goodbye, goodbye

So when you say that you need me
That you'll never leave me
I know you're wrong, you're not that strong
Let me go

And teacher
There are things
That I still have to learn
But the one thing I have is my pride
Oh so I don't want to learn
Hold you, touch you
Think that you're mine
Because there ain't no joy
For an uptown boy
Who just isn't willing to try

I'm so cold
Inside
Maybe just one more try

I feel exactly like George does in the song. I'm going thru a divorce right now. I ended the Marriage/relationship because I had a suspicion that my wife was cheating on me. And also she was treating me bad. Lying and manipulating me, always saying everything was my fault, if something went wrong and telling me that I was an insecure little boy. Stuff like that. She broke me down in so many ways. BUT even though she has done these things, I still love her and I don't really want to live without her, but I can't go on like this, because it is killing me. This song truly describes how woundable lovers can be. I know it's hurting me to be in the relationship with her, but I don't want to let go, in a way. It's very difficult to describe. I know I should just forget about her and move on, but she is the only woman I want to be with. I've been in relationships before and tried breaking up and having a broken heart, but not like this. We where married!!! This changes everything to me. She was the one! It is like Gabigs says: "It's sad how heartbroken and mistreated the guy is...but still feels like "maybe just one more try" THIS IS ME!!! I feel exactly like that. Like: "Maybe if we try again, things will be different, now that I know more, feel stronger and have learned from the mistakes, from the first time around." I know this is probably not true, because she will never change, but in my heart, I wish it could be. My friends say I'm crazy for wanting her back, but I'm deeply in love, what can I do??? I know though, that I don't want her for any price. It's like The Malicious Minx says: "I don't need you, but I want you in my life. I can't accept you in it until you make a positive change. Stop breaking my heart and come back home." Wow!!!!! This is exactly the feelings that I could not communicate. Thank you! I have known this song for years, but not realised until now, how wise and deep it is. Maybe because I have grown as a human and I weren't ready to hear this until now. Thank you George Michael, for this beautiful and heartbreaking song.

I agree with obscurusvita. I believe the song is about unrequited love. I can relate to it so much because I am there right now. It hurts so bad to realize that you what you thought was love was never real.

My friend and I have dicussed the meaning of this song. He and I both came to the same conclusion.

I've had enough of danger And people on the streets I'm looking out for angels Just trying to find some peace Now I think it's time That you let me know So if you love me Say you love me But if you don't just let me go...

THIS IS ABOUT A PERSON WHO IS TIRED OF GIVING HIS LOVE WHEN HE KNOWS IT COULD BE DENIED. HE IS TIRED OF SEEING EVERONE ELSE HAPPY AND HE WOULD LIKE TO FIND SOMETHING REAL. HE WOULD LIKE TO FIND THE SAME PEACE AS EVERYONE ELSE. HE WANTS TO FIND SOMETHING REAL. AND IF THIS PERSON DOESNT LOVE HIM THEN THAT PERSON NEEDS TO BE HONEST AND LET HIM GO.

'Cos teacher There are things that I don't want to learn And the last one I had Made me cry So I don't want to learn to Hold you, touch you Think that you're mine Because it ain't no joy For an uptown boy Whose teacher has told him goodbye, goodbye, goodbye

THIS "TEACHER" IS SOMEONE MAYBE OLDER BUT SURELY WISER AND HE IS SAYING THAT THERE ARE CERTAIN HURTS THAT HE DOESNT WANT TO LEARN. HE DOESNT WANT TO HOLD OR TOUCH THIS PERSON AND HAVE FAITH THAT THIS PERSON IS "HIS". BECAUSE THERE WILL BE NOTHING BUT SADNESS IN THE END IF THIS "TEACHER" SAYS GOODBYE. HE IS GOING TO MAKE THE CHOICE TO SAY GOODBYE HIMSELF.

When you were just a stranger And I was at your feet I didn't feel the danger Now I feel the heat That look in your eyes Telling me no So you think that you love me Know that you need me I wrote the song, I know it's wrong Just let me go...

HE SPEAKS OF WHEN THEY FIRST MET AND THAT THE FEELINGS WERE NOT SO STRONG AND SO HE DIDNT FEEL THE DANGER OF LOVING THIS PERSON. BUT NOW HE TRULY FEELS IT. HE CAN SEE THE LOOK IN THE PERSONS EYES AND HE CAN SEE THAT THIS PERSON DOESNT WANT TO BE WITH HIM. HE IS ASKING THIS PERSON TO STOP MAKING HIM FEEL WANTED BECAUSE HE KNOWS THAT ITS WRONG AND HE IS ASKING TO JUST BE LET GO.

    CHORUS AGAIN

So when you say that you need me That you'll never leave me I know you're wrong, you're not that strong Let me go

HE IS ASKING AGAIN TO BE LET GO BECAUSE HE KNOWS THE WORDS THIS TEACHER SPEAKS ARE UNTRUE.

And teacher There are things That I still have to learn But the one thing I have is my pride Oh so I don't want to Hold you, touch you Think that you're mine Because there ain't no joy For an uptown boy Who just isn't willing to try

HE SPEAKS OF HIS PRIDE AND HE KNOWS THAT HE IS STRONG ENOUGH TO LEAVE AND MAKE THIS CHOICE FOR HIMSELF AND THAT HE IS NOT WILLING TO TRY ANYMORE.

I'm so cold Inside Maybe just one more try...

BUT IN THE END HE IS GOING TO GIVE IT ONE MORE TRY!

It's a sad song that is ultimately about the hope and optimism that comes with new romantic love. In a nutshell, the singer's heart has been broken repeatedly, but he knows that if he doesn't take the risk of new love, his life will be meaningless.

This song came out when I was 13 and I remember, still being a somewhat literal child and missing the metaphor, thinking it was gross that he was singing about his teacher.

    My Interpretation

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_MoreTry%28George_Michael_song%29

    History

"The song was the fourth of six singles to be released from George's debut solo album Faith. A ballad at six minutes in length, the song lyrically explores a young man's hesitancy to enter/revisit a new relationship because he had been emotionally hurt so many times previously. The song concludes with temptation taking over, and Michael ends by singing the title for the only time.

"One More Try" remained a live favourite at Michael's concerts in the years which followed, although its radio airplay tends to be restricted to specific "Love Songs"-esque features because of both the tempo and the length."

It's sad how heartbroken and mistreated the guy is...but still feels like "maybe just one more try"... I can relate to that painful and destructive kind of relationship.

I think he is tired of unrequited love (enough of danger) and is looking for that special someone(looking for angels). Perhaps he feels compelled to let this person he is with that she should let him know what is going on because he wants to avoid pain, anguish, and heartbreak again. His "teacher" must be an older woman who he has fallen for already and he feels the danger lurking once again as it has happened once already. He doesn't want to learn that he's been cheated...again....

I love this song I can relate so well to it.....

I think he's tired of being in a relationship with someone who is just hurting him. He'd like him to be honest and straightforward but he still loves that person so he's hoping for a kind of reaction to his hard words and most of all "one more try". Sometimes you realise that you're loathing yourself but you still can't take a decision.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
