Time can never mend the careless whispers of a good friend
To the heart and mind, ignorance is kind
There's no comfort in the truth
Pain is all you'll find

Should've known better

I feel so unsure
As I take your hand and lead you to the dance floor
As the music dies, something in your eyes
Calls to mind the silver screen

And all its sad good-byes

I'm never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though it's easy to pretend
I know your not a fool

Should've known better than to cheat a friend
And waste the chance that I've been given
So I'm never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you

Time can never mend
The careless whispers of a good friend
To the heart and mind
Ignorance is kind
There's no comfort in the truth
Pain is all you'll find

I'm never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though it's easy to pretend
I know your not a fool

Should've known better than to cheat a friend
And waste this chance that I've been given
So I'm never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you

Never without your love

Tonight the music seems so loud
I wish that we could lose this crowd
Maybe it's better this way
We'd hurt each other with the things we'd want to say

We could have been so good together
We could have lived this dance forever
But no one's gonna dance with me
Please stay

And I'm never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though it's easy to pretend
I know your not a fool

Should've known better than to cheat a friend
And waste the chance that I've been given
So I'm never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you

(Now that you're gone) Now that you're gone
(Now that you're gone) What I did's so wrong
That you had to leave me alone

General Comment:I think the line 'Guilty feet have got no rhythm' explains why white people can't dance

General Comment:This song is about being trapt in the arms of DRUGS not about a woman...
I feel so unsure as I take your hand And lead you to the dance floor(i feel so unsure as i put the needle to my arm,)
As the music dies something in your eyes Calls to mind a silver screen and your it's sad goodbye(he thought it was his friend, it made him feel so good, but it betrayed him..
I'm never gonna dance again guilty feet have got no rhythm(hes trapt, and he'll never be free agian from the drugs..)
I should have known better than to cheat a friend And waste a chance that I've been given(people on drugs tend to betray their closest friends and family, just to get their fix.. he wasted his only chance, _his only life_
Time can never mend the careless whisper of a good friend-friends and family are going to try and help you, you dont listen, there careless whispers..
To the heart and mind ignorance is kind (in denial, you will never admit you have a problem and never let any one help you
there's no comfort in the truth pain is all you'll find(you will never want to hear the truth, your going to keep dong what is bad for you, keep going through the pain.

So I'm never gonna dance again the way I danced with you.(so now hes always trapt, and feels he'll never be free and happy without it)

i can go on and on.. think about it

General Comment:I have to disappoint you, he said in an interview that it actually doesn't mean anything to him, it wasn't about someone special, he just wrote the song.

    General Comment:Mickey is right on.

George actually hates this song and says he feels "no connection" to it because it's a series of "soap opera-type images." He wrote this song in his teens before he started writing personal songs. As a result, this song isn't really about anything or anyone at all. It's just a killer melody and some lyrics wrapped around it trying to tell the made-up story of some drama.

General Comment:In his book..>george admits writting this song, while on a city bus. He was rather young. He had one girl he was seeing...but starting seeing another. He cheated...and felt guilty about it..and wrote the entire song on that bus ride. However, now...he doesnt really "like" the song. YES, he still sings it at all his concerts..but it doesnt weigh on his heart like it did decades ago. And rightly so.

For me...and it seems for others...this song, is a timeless classic. It never looses value. It never looses meaning for the broken hearted. I cant listen to it..with out tearing up.I lost the love of my LIFE..over foolish mistakes Ive made. Foolish choices. Foolish everything. There gets to be a point, where they have had "enough". Rightfully so.
The lyrics kill me. Just stab me in the heart...
To the heart and mind ignorance is kind
there's no comfort in the truth pain is all you'll find

Sometimes, the truth is better off left unsaid. Ive learned this.

"Though it's easy to pretend I know you're not a fool
I should have known better than to cheat a friend
And waste a chance that I've been given
So I'm never gonna dance again the way I danced with you"

Its self exsplanitory....you dont cheat friends or lovers. The only one who ends up alone...is YOU in the long run.

General Comment:Time can never mend the pain of a false "i love u" from a person who pretended to be "just a friend" so not knowing the falsness of this confession is kind since theres no comfort in the truth. Im never gna dance(love) again since im guilty of pushin that person to say i love you. Tho i could pretend it's their fault but they could see right thru me cuz theyre not fools. I shouldve not cheated her by my love because i'm gay and wasted a friendship. Just how i understand it.

General Comment:Exquisite song about the pain of realizing you screwed up a good thing with someone you respect and who you know will not tolerate it. His voice is gorgeous, the music is sad and sensual like someone rocking you in their arms and stroking your head, the subject matter is sorrowful. This is one of my favorite songs ever just for its sheer beauty all the way around. I can listen over and over. George could have delivered much more in his career, it is a shame lawsuits and scandals prevented that.
