Time can never mend the careless whispers of a good friend
To the heart and mind, ignorance is kind
There's no comfort in the truth
Pain is all you'll find
Should've known better
I feel so unsure
As I take your hand and lead you to the dance floor
As the music dies, something in your eyes
Calls to mind the silver screen
And all its sad good-byes
I'm never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though it's easy to pretend
I know your not a fool
Should've known better than to cheat a friend
And waste the chance that I've been given
So I'm never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you
Time can never mend
The careless whispers of a good friend
To the heart and mind
Ignorance is kind
There's no comfort in the truth
Pain is all you'll find
I'm never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though it's easy to pretend
I know your not a fool
Should've known better than to cheat a friend
And waste this chance that I've been given
So I'm never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you
Never without your love
Tonight the music seems so loud
I wish that we could lose this crowd
Maybe it's better this way
We'd hurt each other with the things we'd want to say
We could have been so good together
We could have lived this dance forever
But no one's gonna dance with me
Please stay
And I'm never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though it's easy to pretend
I know your not a fool
Should've known better than to cheat a friend
And waste the chance that I've been given
So I'm never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you
(Now that you're gone) Now that you're gone
(Now that you're gone) What I did's so wrong
That you had to leave me alone
To the heart and mind, ignorance is kind
There's no comfort in the truth
Pain is all you'll find
Should've known better
I feel so unsure
As I take your hand and lead you to the dance floor
As the music dies, something in your eyes
Calls to mind the silver screen
And all its sad good-byes
I'm never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though it's easy to pretend
I know your not a fool
Should've known better than to cheat a friend
And waste the chance that I've been given
So I'm never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you

Pain is all you'll find
I'm never gonna dance again

I feel so unsure as I take your hand And lead you to the dance floor(i feel so unsure as i put the needle to my arm,)
As the music dies something in your eyes Calls to mind a silver screen and your it's sad goodbye(he thought it was his friend, it made him feel so good, but it betrayed him..
I'm never gonna dance again guilty feet have got no rhythm(hes trapt, and he'll never be free agian from the drugs..)
I should have known better than to cheat a friend And waste a chance that I've been given(people on drugs tend to betray their closest friends and family, just to get their fix.. he wasted his only chance, _his only life_
Time can never mend the careless whisper of a good friend-friends and family are going to try and help you, you dont listen, there careless whispers..
To the heart and mind ignorance is kind (in denial, you will never admit you have a problem and never let any one help you
there's no comfort in the truth pain is all you'll find(you will never want to hear the truth, your going to keep dong what is bad for you, keep going through the pain.
So I'm never gonna dance again the way I danced with you.(so now hes always trapt, and feels he'll never be free and happy without it)
i can go on and on.. think about it
"Trapt" is not a word. I think the word you are looking for is "Trapped."
Doesn't your browser have spell check? Did you think you were smarter than spell check? "Haha, spell check thinks trapt isn't a word. lol"
No. Stop it.
Now, where to start...
You said that this song is about being 'trapt' in the arms of drugs.
You said that taking someone's hand and leading them to the dance floor was a metaphor for putting a needle in one's own arm. This implies that the act of dancing is a metaphor for the act of doing drugs.
This is contradicted when you say that the chorus is a metaphor for being TRAPPED by drugs.
He says "I'm never gonna dance again" not "Oh lord, I can't stop dancing."
So if you are correct in your first metaphor, then in the chorus, he is saying "I'm never gonna do drugs again."
You said:
"As the music dies something in your eyes Calls to mind a silver screen and your it's sad goodbye(he thought it was his friend, it made him feel so good, but it betrayed him.."
This makes no sense. Not just because you forgot your closing parenthesis, but because none of the lyrics there say anything about a friend, feeling good, or being betrayed.
Also, you still have to use a space when you use parentheses (like this.) If you leave out the space, then you just look dumb.(like this)
You said:
"I should have known better than to cheat a friend And waste a chance that I've been given(people on drugs tend to betray their closest friends and family, just to get their fix.. he wasted his only chance, _his only life_"
This was one of the only things you said that made any sense.
You said:
"Time can never mend the careless whisper of a good friend-friends and family are going to try and help you, you dont [sic] listen, there [sic] careless whispers.."
First of all, if you're going to be bad with grammar and punctuation, at least have the decency to be consistent.
Secondly, I think you misunderstand the meaning of the word "careless." When something is careless, it doesn't mean that no one cares about it. It means that it was done without any care. A "careless whisper" is not a whisper no one cares about, it is a whisper that was said without thinking beforehand.
Thirdly, you misused the word "there." as in "over there." I can't believe that you got "Their" right earlier, but then you go and throw in a "there" when you should be using a "they're" or better yet - "They are." ASSUMING that you were consistent in your use of "their" and didn't mean to use it here.
You said:
"To the heart and mind ignorance is kind (in denial, you will never admit you have a problem and never let any one help you"
Again, if you're going to start using parentheses, keep using them.
More importantly, your analysis makes little sense here. He is essentially saying that Ignorance is bliss. You are saying that he is saying that ignorance is bad and evil and grrr.
You said:
"there's no comfort in the truth pain is all you'll find(you will never want to hear the truth, your going to keep dong what is bad for you, keep going through the pain."
This also makes sense. Congrats.
You said:
"So I'm never gonna dance again the way I danced with you.(so now hes [sic] always trapt, [sic] and feels he'll never be free and happy without it)"
As I said earlier, if dancing is doing drugs, then he will never do drugs again.
Finally, you said:
"i can go on and on.. think about it"
I'm sure you can. But so could I. And I have thought about it. See above.
I'm not saying you're completely wrong, just very wrong.
That is all.
George actually hates this song and says he feels "no connection" to it because it's a series of "soap opera-type images." He wrote this song in his teens before he started writing personal songs. As a result, this song isn't really about anything or anyone at all. It's just a killer melody and some lyrics wrapped around it trying to tell the made-up story of some drama.
For me...and it seems for others...this song, is a timeless classic. It never looses value. It never looses meaning for the broken hearted. I cant listen to it..with out tearing up.I lost the love of my LIFE..over foolish mistakes Ive made. Foolish choices. Foolish everything. There gets to be a point, where they have had "enough". Rightfully so.
The lyrics kill me. Just stab me in the heart...
To the heart and mind ignorance is kind
there's no comfort in the truth pain is all you'll find
Sometimes, the truth is better off left unsaid. Ive learned this.
"Though it's easy to pretend I know you're not a fool
I should have known better than to cheat a friend
And waste a chance that I've been given
So I'm never gonna dance again the way I danced with you"
Its self exsplanitory....you dont cheat friends or lovers. The only one who ends up alone...is YOU in the long run.
