    My Interpretation:This reminds me so much of my own situation. It's about a close friend (probably ... in my case it's my best guy friend) and having them confide in you that they love another girl. She wants desperately to tell him the truth about how she feels-but how can she? He loves someone else and she doesn't want to get hurt, so once again she finds herself alone. She knows she has to move on but she can't because she loves him that much and she has been there beside him for so long, she can't live without him. She looks at him differently than he will ever be able to see her-as more than a friend. She doesn't know how to tell him that she loves him and she figures it doesn't even matter...she says goodbye to all of her hope of getting with him and says hello to solitude-or being alone-figuring that it will be the only thing left for her. It's so heartbreaking :( ... but with me, the guy I like is my best friend who likes my other best friend that is a girl. She has denied his love so many times and even has a boyfriend...so he tried to move on and started liking other girls but me (of course.) Recently he asked me if I liked him and I said yes...and I found out the reason he asked was because he likes me too. But then he told me he thinks we should stay just friends because of my girl best friend (he still loves her), and ever since then I don't know how to express my emotions to him. Those 5 words broke my heart...

    General Comment:In my opinion, i think its about loving someone who is in your reach but at the same time so far out of reach.. a good friend that. but you know its all you'll ever be. the friend talks about how they feel about someone else and it kills you. drives you insane pretending like tehres nothing there. and feeling so alone afraid to move on for it. hangin on 2 hope... eh something like that .. thats what some of it seems 2 me

    General Comment:It's like the Evanescence version of "On My Own," lol . . .

    It's very easily related to: She loves him, but he loves someone else. They're close (good friends, perhaps closer than even the pair of requited lovers)-- he tells her he loves the other girl, she stands by him silently and probably pretends to be happy for him, though deep down she's bitter, and has been for a long time ("all along, it was me"). The lyrics imply this has happened before (perhaps he's had many girlfriends, or this one for a very long time). Waiting for him ("only you")-- or at least unlucky in other loves ("how many times have I done this to myself? . . . everyone leaves me stranded, forgotten, abandoned, left behind") she's left all alone.

    This is the perfect song for unrequited love of friends-- which is so sadly common.

    General Comment:I cry every time I listen to this song. The situation is a tad different with me though. I've dated the guy. And we broke up. Eight months ago. We still reamin "friends". I love him soooo much. But when he asked me if i still did, i said I didn't. And he believed me. So now he claims he feels nothing towards me. And now he's with my best friend. He claims he's so in love, blah, blah, blah. And it breaks my heart to see them together. but I messed everything up. Now I'm nothing to him. And it hurts me so much. but that's the gist of it. How he can't tell how i feel, though I try to say it. he never picks up on the hints. This song means so much to me. Bless Amy's boken heart.
