Amphetamines and jellybeans
She was pretty in her teens
Waiting for the month of come what May
I smelled you on my shirt today
Of course the hardest part is letting go
But you've got to or you know
You'll end up waiting by the

Phone me once in a while
Let me know you're alright
Tell you again that I'm fine
Then we go about our separate lives

Was it nasty scheme or lazy dreams
I left you cold two blankets deep
This is the last song I'll send your way
I smelled you on my shirt today
Of course the hardest part is letting go
But you've got to or you know
You'll end up waiting by the

Phone me once in a while
Let me know you're alright
Tell you again that I'm fine
Then we go about our separate lives

Phone me tell me that you're waiting
By the phone for me to phone you
Once in a while
Then we go about our separate lives

Phone me once in a while
Let me know you're alright
Tell you again that I'm fine
Then we go about our separate lives

General Comment:damn, how did everyone miss that its using the story of the song amphetamine by everclea, which is about a girl that they called amphetamine, idk i dontfeel like explaining that song, but this one goes the extra step away from that song, saying that she is like amphetamines, not just they call her amphetamine, but that she is like speed/amphetamines, and it alludes back to theeverclear song, and the song annie-dog by the smashing pumpkins is about the same thing too, i cant beleive that no one else got that

General Comment:I think this is about both a girl and the drugs. Typicaly you have a "partner in crime". When doing drugs. On drugs, especially amphetamines, relationships are intence. And once in a while, the girls you hook up with are amazing girls (both looks and brain), but are struggeling and are often borderline. A girl like this can change your life, and never be forgotten (I ve heard many storys). In this song, he quit drugs, she didn't. He moved on and is fine, but he can't forget her. It's probably written a few years after they split.

General Comment:this song is not about a breakup with a girl, but a break up with amphetamines, hence the title. this is how i like to look at it. he makes it sound like its about a girl the whole time to make it more relatable to people who dont know how hard it is to get off the addicting drugs. well thats my two cents at least....peace out

General Comment:i think the title could be amphetamines because the relationship is addicting almost like a drug. if you don't let go you'll end up just waiting by the phone, you'll never recover unless you cut yourself off. even when you do you'll still want that person to call and wonder about you or think about you from time to time, even though you know the relationship wasn't working.

General Comment:The girl in question got involved with drugs and got "way too skinny." Quote unquote. Hence the title.

General Comment:It's about how he can't stop thinking about her "I smelled you on my shirt today" but he knows that being near to her will be worse, in the long run. "Of course the hardest part is letting go/ but you've got to, or you know/ you'll end up waiting by the/ phone..." So he has to do the sucky thing and move on, to stop seeing her and separate himself from his past: "Tell you again that I'm fine/ then we go about our separate lives"

General Comment:This reminds me of situation I'm in... You care about someone a lot and they say that they care about you too but then they start drifting away from you. They stop phoning you and talking to you. You still care about them and dont' want them to leave you even though inside you know that maybe it'd be better if it was like this. If you were separated. But you still want the person to once in awhile phone you and tell you what's going on with them. Yeah. I know that doesn't completely fit the song... but for the most part it does.

General Comment:Yeah, this song is awesome. I kinda feel like he still wants to be with her, but he knows it wouldn't work for some reason, so he just wants them to be friends.
