Ssshhhh
There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold
And she's buying a stairway to heaven.
When she gets there she knows, if the stores are all closed
With a word she can get what she came for.
Ooh, ooh, and she's buying a stairway to heaven.
What's the next line?
Ther... You sure?
There's a sign on the wall (pause)
When she gets there she knows, if the stores are all closed
With a word she can get what she came for.
And it makes me wonder
Ooooooh... and it makes me wonder
If there's a bustle in your hedgerow
Yes, there are two paths you can go, but in the long run
The piper's .....
(sings guitar solo, not play, sings!)
And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our souls.
There walks a lady we all know
Who lights white light and wants to show
(mumbling)
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last.
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll.
And she's buying a stairway to heaven.
There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold
And she's buying a stairway to heaven.
When she gets there she knows, if the stores are all closed
With a word she can get what she came for.

Dave Grohl fucked this up on purpose, he did it to say that people should never cover this song.
How could you even forget the lyrics to this song being as big a fan of Led Zeppelin as he is. I know Robert Plant did, but he hates Stairway To Heaven anyway.
I listened to both performances "Foo Fighter(Live) and Led Zeppelin) but I have to say after the 2 A themes (2 first phrases) when they sing "Uh oohh ooo, uh oooh ooh" (you know which part i mean) Foo Fighters sings it more sad and more technical, although he do lots of funny things on the scene (Actually i just heard it, i never watched it)
i'm not a fanatic person, and i do believe if foo fighters plays this song seriously it would be more powerful than what Led Zeppelin has played!
and if you watch the video, the drummer (idk his name SORRY I feel like a loser) he's cool to just like chillin for the first two minutes, and then doing it wrong like Dave.
OH YEAH and there's proof that they planned to forget the words. Both musicians messed up, and the knew to feed each other the wrong lyrics & cues. Plus of course everyone has said how much Dave Grohl lovs Led Zeppelin...
Anyways, people who are offended by this need to take the stick out their ass cause it's no disrespect towards Zep, it's just dang funny.
People who are trying to say he actually forgot the words, you just.. make me want to punch babies in the face.
err, something of that context x_x;
I'm a Led Zep fan, I don't think it's really disrespecting. [Disrespecting would be the use of a good song in a commercial.. then, it only made commercials more fun then x_X;]
Plus, omg, i want to watch the video of this. It would be good to see if he was singing the guitar solo and was doing air guitar! hahaha!
love that "The tune will come to you at last!" emphasis! lol! Maybe the words will come to him at last? lmao!
A couple interesting notes about this...
The performance wasn't originally aired, but only showed up months later during a Kilborn thanksgiving special episode.
Also, some hardcore Zeppelin fans were outraged over this cover claiming Grohl "disrespected" the song. Proving once again that classic rock fans can be just as guilty of music snobbery as the indie crowd.
