The only things surrounding you now
Are the circular memories
Infect your conscience
They are the make up of your worries
Regrets and doubts

Elective betrayal of your person
Radiates confidence
Shine with silence
And shadow the ones below

This drought is leaving me
With cracked soil and brown leaves
Floating on a dry lake bed
With a dry mouth and foggy head
Waiting for the snow
When the water comes
I will overflow
I will overflow
When the water comes
I will overflow

There's one more thing
I forgot to tell you
Worries and doubts
Will only help you
In the long run
You'll shadow the ones below

This drought is leaving me
With cracked soil and brown leaves
Floating on a dry lake bed
With a dry mouth and foggy head
Waiting for the snow
When the water comes
I will overflow
I will overflow
When the water comes
I will overflow

My Interpretation:Although Dredg never was my favorite band, this album is by far the best I've ever heard in my life. It's just so...complete, it's unbelievable.

Anyway, my thoughts on this song:

At first glance it's a description of the dream that was described in the link of "lotsofface"'s post. However, it seems to me like the lyrics put some meaning into the whole situation.
The person sees the dream as a world built from negative thoughts within you. Facing that makes you stronger - in the end you'll be able to overcome them while they would always follow you if you don't.
But on the other hand he feels that this thoughts are a part of him, that he needs the loneliness and silence coming from that. So that "When the water comes I will overflow" part seems to be about the fear that he cannot handle so much "life" (positive things, be it love, success or whatever) within him. He needs negativity to have a personal balance.
So in the end it is an endless search for this balance in life. Or to take the words of the lyrics, to get some snow into your dry soul, but not a whole load of water. Although it seems like life only offers one of the extremes, you either long for something that will never come or you get what you want while giving up something of your own.

I might be far off with that, but that's how I see the song.

General Comment:This song is lyrically (along with most of the songs on El Cielo), inspired by letters that the band received from people who suffer from Sleep Paralysis. Read the letter, then this song will make sense.

The only things surrounding you now,
Are the circular memories that infect your conscience,
They are the make up of your worries, regrets, and doubts.

    Collective portrayal of your person,
It radiates confidence, you shine with silence,
    You shadow the ones below.

    This drought is leaving me,
With cracked soil and brown leaves,
Floating on a dry lake bed,
With a dry mouth and a foggy head,
    Waiting for the snow

    But, when the water comes,
I will overflow, I will overflow.
When the water comes, I will overflow.

There's one more thing I forgot to tell you:

With cracked soil and brown leaves,
Floating on a dry lake bed,

    I will overflow, I will overflow .
When the water comes, I will overflow

General Comment:Are you sure it's 'This ground is leaving me', because I'm hearing 'drought' and it makes a bit more sense.

    Great song none the less.

General Comment:The end is referring to the painting in which this album was inspored by ''Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bumblebee around a Pomegranate a Second Before Awakening'' which was painted in 1944

General Comment:That bit at the end's from a public radio show. So, uh, yeah, this song wasn't recorded in 1944, but the song the end bit's referring to was.

General Comment:Also, it's "This drought is leaving me.." in the chorus, not this ground. And "waiting for the snow", not sound. :)

General Comment:@ RockXWL - vividness of DREAM, not greed. That guy is a liar anyway, no way was it recorded in 1944.

This is one of my favourite dredg songs, I love the power of it, and the winding down sax solo.
